I had Cough Cool, an original pressing bought around ‘82. From a London 2nd record shop in Notting Hill gate. I had all of them, I was a big fan back in those days.
I'm view number 6666! I used to have a major Misfits vinyl collection. Sold it to Philadelphia Record exchange in 98. I walked in, put them on the counter and the dude says "I can't afford these!" I told him I needed rent money. He says "don't come back in here a week from now saying you made a mistake!". Now, in 2015...I made a mistake!!!!
Don't feel too bad. At least you got some money for them. I had 1/4 of my vinyl collection go missing after a move (I assume one of the movers just stole the box). Lot's of valuable first pressings like a mint Stains (SST) still in shrink only played once to tape.
@@stevegilmore2093 thanks. at this point just too expensive. I did find the flac files to put on CD but man I miss some of those albums for sentimental reasons.
Never had really any of these except Walk Among Us, but was lucky enough to meet various people who had one or another of the singles so I had it all on cassette back in the early-mid 80s, and believe me I listened to this band to death (as it were). It's cool how all these records have become so sought after, kind of like old comic books which they're not a million miles away from being in a sense. Back then it was really hard to find out anything concrete about the Misfits so there was a mystique that I really kind of miss; it made them special, and was fuel for the imagination when listening to this amazing shit that seemed like it came from outer space. They weren't that popular among anyone I knew at that time either, so I had that feeling of knowing about something great that most people haven't discovered. All that is hard to remember now after all the lawsuits, exploding popularity, 90s Newfits, M25 dead horse debacle, stadium reunions etc, but their best stuff is still in a class by itself.
I'm a stickler about the facts! A Walk Among Us cassette didn't come out until 1988 (Warner Brothers), not 84 or 85. Cough Cool only had 1 pressing, "the Minor Threat guys" never played live as Samhain, aside from Lyle playing guitar for only the first show. There is no 'fiend club' version of Horror Business, that would be the Evilive 7". NOTLD didn't have a second pressing, Halloween didn't either. No orange Halloween, black only (that'd be awesome though!) There is a white cover version of Halloween, like a test pressing. 3 Hits From Hell did indeed have a lot of different pressings. "Most" of the Misfits vinyl wasn't pressed in the UK, they used plants in New York and New Jersey. Beware was a UK pressing, and there is a German Earth AD (Wolfsblood) and Evilive on 12". Second press of Walk Among US is not on Caroline!!! Caroline has never owned Walk Among US. WAU is on Ruby/Slash/Warner Brothers/Rhino. The Evilive 12" is German, not UK. The Die Die My Darling cover art is from a comic book called Chamber of Chills, but it was modified by Glenn. Those colored Legacys are awesome! I suspect the red and white Legacys and purple and white Die Dies were pressed at the same time. There were pink Legacys. That's from starting to press red without cleaning the white out of the machines, or vice versa.
Man,I see you know a thing or two about them :) can you perhaps help me with info: how much is worth a Horror Bussiness black pressing, its in ok condition (has few lines here and there,it doesent influence the playing tho) but its just the record, without sleeve,or nothing?
Lyle did play on some of the songs on "Initium", though. Despite what he says, Brian Baker was never really in the band. I don't think he ever even practiced with the band.
That’s an amazing collection, I have a few of those myself. One of my WAU copies has the original t shirt order form, shirts were $6. There were 2 WOLFSBLOODs one had a black label with silver letters the other had a silver label with black letters. BEWARE is the real deal too, it has the “smudge” above Jerry’s shoulder, no known bootleg exists with that smudge. That collection is flipping awesome
It's crazy but original Misfits vinyl goes for big money, and is just as collectable as Beatles, and rare jazz records. I heard somewhere that Henry Rollins has few Misfits gems in his collection.
truth. Since Glenn's return, with the shows, prices have risen in a surreal way. Last month I managed to buy two Samhain vinyls that I didn't have in my collection yet, from a guy from Luxembourg (Never mind the Misfits, Here's Samhain and A Bucket of Blood), for 83 euros.
I'm late to the video but man that was great. Been a misfits and Danzig fan since the mid 90s when I was in middle school. Awesome collection, great video.
People sure do love The Misfits! I've always been more into Danzig's solo material to be honest, but can't deny how much fun Misfits are. Amazing collection, Dan! WE ARE 138!
Awesome video! I'm a big Misfits fan, so it was great to see this stuff. Plus, it was a nice touch to have you moving the conversation along and asking questions. Nice job, Dereck. Really fun video, would like to see more like it.

I have to know...what exactly WAS the fiasco with Rikk Agnew? Which incarnation? Adolescents? Christian Death? Did he know about RAF as a band? Because he's not shy about discussing royalties 😍
My favorite thing about the early Misfits recordings is that in the late 70s they were still trying to figure out how to play their instruments...in that way punk has an indie quality...it's amateur
Initium was the first album by Samhain. It was Danzig, Eerie Von, Steve Zing. Lyle Preslar played guitar on tracks3,4,7,8 but they were over dubbed by Danzig.
I started storing my vinyl outside of the jacket, but inside the poly sleeve, like Dan does. But what do you do for double gatefolds and double non-gatefolds? Do you store it in between the gatefold or in one of the pockets? Thanks
Die Die My Darling artwork is from an old comic book, chamber of chills, the title is from an old horror movie. Nice collection, Cough Cool is a pile of shit, but soooooo rare.
HELL YES! I admit , even though I know you are fond of SOMETHING from every genre, I wasn't expecting this from you Dereckvon. My adolesence was greatly aided by headphones and these albums (on cassette), The little band I was in in High School mainly covered Misfits/Samhain and other punk - then when it was just the more dedicated (the drummer and myself , the lead guitar) would go experimental because we were very punk skater kid graduating in 1995 for me and a year or two before or sfter for the rest ...though most dropped out and went chasing skating and raving in ATL. Im sure you've googled the origin of the iconic skull and other art by now but if not , do so. I won't spoil the story (or film hint hint) in this coment. Please listen to all the stuff and keep up the great work. RANDOM: MY LATEST DISCOVERY OF SOMETHING IN MY COLLECTION THAT GRABBED THE FUNK OUTTA ME LAST NIGHT : "Ash Ra Temple's track "Space" - Im guessing you've enjoyed it many times but ....wow. Peace my man.
Anyone remember a website called "weare138.com" anyone know what happened to them? It was like a wiki page for all things misfits. All the fiend club goodies, all the pressings and album covers and different versions of albums, bootlegs, live pictures, flyers, live bootlegs, even guitar tabs. Not even just misfits stuff either; had links to other Danzig related sites. Would spend hours on that site. Cool site but it disappeared over the last 7 years. Wonder if they've been reincarnated since.
I think this is great and all but there are millions of fake Misfits pressings and it would be ridiculously hard to figure out which is real and which is fake.
looking at his double copies .its evident the printing press operator didnt give a fuck or they didnt have a color proof to match the color.you can see the color differential on the earth ad.still looks cool how the purple is different though
Who killed Marilyn aint Misfits release, its Glenn alone. If Im not wrong he played all the instruments on ther, theres rumour that Googy played drums. What confuses me tho is that te story was that Jerry ("others" actually) didntlike the song and thats why it was released by Glenn himself.hey playd it two-three times live maybe.Whatcnfuses me is what the fuck them not liking it has anthing to do with this being released as Glenns solo project???Its hard to believe they had any saying in the Misfits,it was Glenns child after all??
In truth. Glenn sought out Jerry Only and Doyle to record, but they were more concerned with working with their father and earning some money. He got tired and decided to release the album by himself, recording all the instruments.

@@trencher7 😞 I am sorry for your loss.
@@trencher7oh christ. That sucks beyond comprehension. That stains record is killer! Hope you were able to get another one

@@trencher7 man. I get it. That stains record cost a kidney! Hopefully you still have some rare records that you didn’t lose!

do you still have that black HB?

Hello from Southwest Omaha! My Misfits releases in my collection can be counted on one hand.
🇺🇸😂 Awesome DERECKVON 👏🏻On DANs Collectable ,THE MISFITS LPs I Enjoyed Them👏🏻🤘🏼
I only have a compliation cd by the Misfits. Love the song 'Were Eagels Dare' Bye Jen.
The Die Die My Darling artwork is taken from the old Chamber Of Chills issue 19 comic book cover.
The Chamber Of Chills 19 comic is really desirable to collectors. When one pops up for sale, it is usually for big money.
Title taken from a cheesy old Tallulah Bankhead movie that's...almost worth seeing, if only for the moment when she delivers that line.
Vary nice appreciate being able to see well kept vinyl and especially The MISFITS !
I love this misfits collections! Crazy dope
your friend has an INCREDIBLE misfits collection! god damn. this was really really cool to see and very informative

Misfits are kinda like the punk version of the Beatles.
Congrats to that awesome collection and thanks for sharing!!
Awesome showcase with Dan! I really like hearing the stories behind the collection. Also, Pushead did a lot of the Misfits art back in the day.
