  • AJH Synth's MiniMod range is a great modular take on the classic Model D. It can do much more than simply emulate classic Moog sounds though - let's try taking this classic set-up into new realms!
    Modular Monthly continues in every issue of Future Music. See more from our collaborator DivKid - / divkidvideo

    This is the best modular synthesis tutorial I've seen yet. Excellent! Thank you!

    Awesome work as always Divkid. This is an excellent overview of basic subtractive synthesis that we can all learn from. Sometimes you just have to get back to the basics.

    Love your use of color coded patch cables Ben! Chris Myers is also doing that on his Learning Modular series.

    I like the color coding of the patch cables - I think it makes patches easier to follow, esp. if you are new to this.

    Hi thanks for the video and the tips. Tried the patches on my Arturia Modular V sounded great especially the nasal formanty one at 15:30. Have you thought of doing a series on the Modular V or the Arp2600 V? I think the are great synths.

    How does the Minimod filter compare with something like the Moog ladder types in the Doepfer A120 or Analogue systems RS100? Does the Minimoog have sharks tooth waves? The only other time I've seen an old synth with vco shapes that are a bit different is on the Elektor Formant, which has Mark space----a cross of saws & squares.

      This does seem to be a strange thing..British seem to love Moog products more than anybody, including Americans, but seem uniformly incapable of pronouncing the name correctly..

    • @geecen
      @geecen 8 лет назад +2

      Surely on reading it for the first time you read it the cow way too? That's how it would be pronounced phonetically based on the spelling. Maybe it depends on the age of the person - the older among us first heard of Moog through magazines so had no idea how most stuff was pronounced!

    Can you replicate the fat bread and butter model d sounds? And is there the possibility to modulate or clock LFO’s somehow with an external source? Thank you!!!

    Another one of your videos that has resulted in credit card debt :). Can you make one just of the VCF doing basic sweeps at different input and res levels, with and without the overdrive jumper? Trying to get an idea what that sounds like. Maybe the same with the VCA?

  • @rodriguepellaud
    @rodriguepellaud 8 лет назад +6

    you should pronounce Minimood

      +fiddlestickz muzik there's an in depth VCO demo on my page and full in depth of each module to come ... so I "needed" both in order to be able to do that ;-)

    Has anyone compared this to the Minimoog D? In comparisons the Sub 37 and Voyager sound much darker with a lot less buzz and high end so it wouldn't be interesting to hear this compared.

    • @JuanAMatos-zx4ub
      @JuanAMatos-zx4ub 4 года назад

      About a year ago I compared my MiniMod directly to a friend's Voyager. We saw the audio through an EQ and the MiniMod had more higher frequencies than the Voyager. The Voyager sounded "nicer", while the MiniMod had more grit.

      +Kayak Fan it's a long debated thing with Bob Moog himself even saying different sides of family say it different. Moog as in Rogue and Moog as in Moo-Cow. Us Brits tend to say Moog. It's "supposed to be" Moog as in Rogue, so or that I'll apologise.

      we mis-pernounce evvrythang, and in every language.... but so do all the rest of the world. Spain=España, Italy (Italia), Germany (Deutschland)... we take VAYtamins, and watch the TV (emphasis goes to the "V" for regular Americans, & the "T" is preferred by 'Mericans (much like the GITTar - or guitar) -- and "Telly" is a bald guy that used to be on TV (TV is also used to mean television programming as well as the big bright box we all seem to love so much)... Loo sounds like a name (Lou, short for Louis), but we go to the John to relieve ourselves. and what's a "water closet"? we call the (John) a "bathroom" even if there is only a toilet & no bath. oh yeah, our John Thomas is a Richard ("Dick" actually... nobody uses the formal "Richard" any more ----- that's a joke). Oh, and a girl's fanny is in back on this side o' the pond. OH, OH..... NEVER use the term "Nickers" for any reason in the U.S... It drives the k----ers CRAZY. Our "birds" wear panties (or not =0)
