Listen Man... Thank you. These ARE my guys! I still listen to GIGEL. It Gets No Deeper, Supa Casanova, All U MCs... Cee & Rud were ahead of their time. As a young boy growing up... They were the soundtrack to my life. Their music is timeless.
These were my dudes. They lived in the building behind me in Astoria Projects. They were the most famous group to come out of Astoria. But there was another group called BBD not Bell Biv Divoe but Black By Demand. Their video is here on RUclips.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
This is one of the coolest albums i ever bought. I thought it was cassanova rapping til i saw a video. All the songs were dope super lover had unique style nobody copied. Good to know their story. Thx.
'88...let 'im think. 'im was in Jamaica. Slick Rick. Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff. Dana Dane. Salt & Pepa. BDP. PE. Shinehead. Just some of the "variation" that era brought about. Respect to Super Lover Cee amd Casanova Rud. They had 'im ears in '91 with "Romeo". Salute.
13:12!!! Damn!!! That was a fly ass dance. Dance routine was on point. I miss the 80's NY style of rap and dances. The fashion trends NY set was fire for many years!!!!
@@krazethekingofcontent Much appreciated but I was there in Astoria projects - went to most of the shows with Supe and Rud. Just thought everyone should know how Supe pioneered the Modern HipHop Flow back in the late '80s before Most. I got stories for Days from them days lol
King of content is the best historical information on HIPHOP Period !!!!!! Peace and love I learned alot about the back stories of artist from back in the day I neva knew bout cuz we didnt have internet back then it was MTV Bet Source magazine
We almost should've stopped watching this the minute you said they followed Pete Rock and CL Smooth... Like come on man, they preceeded Pete and CL by at least 4 years
I still rock there 🎶 can't do this mumble rap aka skinny jean trash they play nowadays. Classic hip hop right here. This makes me wish this story was a hour or few longer... love it.
Caliente was able to freestyle at any given moment...he was extremely talented. He was a hardworking man, driven, and a good person! I’m happy for him!
Paul C. was the man! If he did Ultra and Rakim, that proves it. I use to bump Ultra’s “Watch Me Now” to flex ride’s my sound system. Two 15’s and a Punch 45 BoOMin!
Great video, Super Lover and Rud are mad underrated. With the production credits I don't think the issues is not that people misunderstood what Paul did cause there from overseas, these LP's sold world wide including all over Europe, both as imports and later euro releases. I believe the issue is a result of the generation gap who's only reference point is youtube and youtube doesn't give you the credits like the wax will.
Their debut is an all time classic imo. Ahead of their time lyrically (Only Rakim G-Rap Kane KRS LL Cube SlickRick MastaAce EPMD were as dope as Super Lover Cee in 1987/88 skill wise and imo he was top4 ✍🏽skill wise with G-Rap Rakim Kane in 88). It still holds up today! Timeless! Paul C 😮💨🔥😮💨 production/engineering/mix as well! So sad he passed in 1989 (murdered) at 24 as he was gonna be a living legend! He was working with Organized Konfusion too! Would have had more🔥with OK (Pharoahe one of my GOAT emcees), Super Lover Cee and Casanova Rud, Rakim, Latifah, Ultra Magnetic MCs, Main Source, etc etc. He was such a talent! Listen to the way other all time legends talk about him from Large Pro to Pharoahe Monch to Rakim to so many others! Would have worked with so many more legends too. PS United Skates of America in 80s was such a fun place for kids and young adults!
Short cited release the whole documentary you will get alot more likes. Forgot how dope this group was I remember being in the record store and debating road least 10 minutes over if I should buy De LA Souls 3 free Hugh and rising. Or Super Lover Cee and Cassanova Ruds tape.
Shout Out to my Big Bros. Grew up under these guy's and lived in the building next to them. Astoria Projects! Also Rud taught me how to make beats. Salute my bros even my Big Bro Spunk 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

These dudes were the flyest dudes out at the time. In 1987 these New York cats were hotter than firecrackers!! Everybody was bumpin the James Brown and Girls I got em locked!!
What I like the most about "The Golden Era" is that everybody had their own lane. Some artist sounded similar but mostly everybody had their own originality. It was a few biters here and there. But today almost everybody sound mundane.
I remember seeming Kraze scary ass downtown Manhattan with his cute wife buying bootleg purses 👜 inside some underground bootleg depot building, They was moving through like ninjas making sure no one seen Him. But I seen LOL 😂

Great segment and great to see Steezo (RIP) on this.
I bought their first album. It was a solid album you could listen all the way through it. Definitely ahead of their time.
Right
I got the first album on vinyl. Still got it! Classic

Astoria Projects. Hardcore projects in L.I.C. It wasn't just Queensbridge. In 1986 I took GED classes there at the center.
I saw them at the Rooftop in 88'... Salute Kraze for doing this one
This was on point.
Keep bringing it back.

I've already watched this on a segment called real rap stories very informative love your material and yes I did also peep the series rap star❤.
Coming from Queens as a DJ they had 2 of the most popular beats to make blend tapes which eventually morphed into hip hop soul!!
Whatever happened to cassanova rud?
Caliente was able to freestyle at any given moment...he was extremely talented. He was a hardworking man, driven, and a good person! I’m happy for him!
Their back and forth was so on point in addition to them sounding alike, I didn’t know who was rapping.
Lyricism was on MAD point in '88. Back when lyricism didn't even really matter yet.
The Best Dance track in 80's🗽🏙❤EASTNY/Bushwick Brooklyn! Best time growing up in NYC HIP HOP ERA! Thank you
Salute for this clip. Gurantee I'm hitting that "Do the James" slide once we get back to clubbin mode.
Well im goin to get down for the james brown.

Stezo!!! Oh wow. I am still trippin' that he passed...
03:44 - I saw Steezo open up for Ultramagnetic MCs at Dingwalls nightclub in Camden, London way back in '88 (or maybe '89)
Yooo! You had to be there!!!!
Was and still am a huge fan! Thought he could have spoke on Casanova Rud more. Hope they still cool…

My family from astoria projects i used to go out there hoping to see these dudes
Go back and listen to " Come on and get some" Sup displayed a high lyrical skill and certain lines in that track is still hard to match til this day

What beat is that at 2:31?
I'm from the era I always thought Casanova Rudd was rhyming with super lover see damm Rudd was just a face💯
Not entirely true. He did rap on "All You MC's" on the album, and more tracks on the "Blow Up The Spot" EP they released later on.
@ Tone Gee Word Me Too!*Smh.....
@@mortensteen Yup! Rud killed ALL YOU MC's. I wish he actually had more rhymes on that record. He was neck and neck with Supe...and that's hard to do.
