- CBTC on the (7) now allows trains to be much closer together on the NYC Subway. This is at the Queensboro Plaza station.

not when you live by 2 separate elevated tracks and your windows are open because its hot inside
it's not the worst thing in the world, you get used to it but it gets annoying sometimes when you have to keep putting the volume up and back down when a train passes.

WOW! this is the view that you NEVER get to see!! I don't think you can even see it on Google Maps! I love love these things. like everyday down to earth views that local people going about things. thanks! i love how it.. the platform seems to be up high and buildings are surrounding it!

Was riding at the RFW on a BMT Chambers St. Loop train (yes that was a long time ago before CBTC) coming into DeKalb Ave behind a D-Triplex Brighton train. The motorman brought the train halfway into the station less than 20 feet behind of the departing Brighton. Just close enough so that the tripper didn't come up to stop him. This is when motormen were very well experienced.
That was a long time ago. It’s amazing that the Nassau Street loop provided so many different services, including the “Bankers Express”. I do remember motormen slowly pulling up to trains at a close distance (carefully) without incident. It’s unfortunate that after a few accidents the TA overreacted and installed so many timers throughout the system. Even with the recent speed ups, the trains don’t run as fast as they did way back when.

don't they do that with the 6 trains and the 2 trains and the 5 trains and the 4 trains a lot because the train is at the station and the next train is at the next station right behind it and the trains are supposed to be 37 minutes away from each other and the first train needs to be long gone before the next train comes to the station.
train traffic and the trains are always delaying.
this happened once with the (2) and (3) trains at Central Park North 110th street, It had to be the last stop for the (2) train because of the close train traffic

I seen that a few times on the 7 line as teen. Their Ans at 33 & Rawson as especially when the Switches get went down in late 90’s down

This should’ve never happened if the first train didn’t stop with doors
Open for that long.I counted the doors should’ve closed within 7 seconds as usual trains and the next train came 43 seconds later.This is pretty close but still apart.Which means when this first train arrived the 2nd arrived 3 minutes later.

In queensboro plaza is normal for the 7 train to be closed cuz one is local and the next one is Express, you can actually see the first train was Express it goes from the middle track the 2 train was local it goes in a different track
An with CBTC it allows trains to run close together so the system can handle more trains
I saw this happen on the Broadway line in which I saw a n right behind the r they almost looked connected

WHOA!!!! Now we need this CBTC system-wide!!! MTA need to spend the money on updating the signal than remodeling stations
They are but it takes a long time and it's hard to get the work done even if time isn't an issue
They'd have to get rid of all the SMEE trains which alot of the lines are ONLY using B,D,Q,N,W,1,3,6 (Those are all of the ones I can recall that only use SMEEs)

Yes, I see an improvement for sure!
7 trains were never as close together before 2018 and 2019. The 2 trains in this video we're about a minute apart, a great improvement from 8.5 minutes.
No, I ride that line everyday and the local never arrives in the morning. I still have to wait ten minutes for the train while three Flushing bond trains pass by and two expresses pass as well. CBTC was a terrible investment.
Blake McNamara They just need to improve the dispatching on the line. In addition, the 7 is getting 14 additional trains added to the schedule because of CBTC.

I HAVE LIVED IN NYC ALL MY LIFE AND HAVE TAKEN THE MTA THOUSANDS OF TIMES AND HAVE NEVER been or seen a train with that white cabinet/BOX IN IT

richie bee The L line is no where near dangerous. The most dangerous line would have to be J/Z. With the oldest trains and architect in the system, it’s somewhat dangerous.

@@KaltrinaDemiri it's horrifically expensive to live at the centre of Manhattan or on fashionable streets like Fifth Avenue or areas like the upper west side. Many people live in Brooklyn, Queens or even, in their own words, "across the street" in Jersey City. Downtown Manhattan is becoming more residential but was traditionally a bit of a ghost town after office hours
@@visionist7 Oh yes, I know i ts super expensive to live right smack in the middle of downtown but that would be nice or at least a walking distance to the city is also nice. Just miss being in the city and being able to walk everywhere I wanted instead of having to take a car to drive 20 mins just to one place like I do now haha. I do like Brooklyn as well.

Mamadou ly The L and 7 lines were chosen first because they are self-contained lines, as in THEY SHARE NO TRACKAGE WITH ANY OTHER LINE. Any CBTC installation in the Bronx will be more complex, which is similar to the situation with Queens Blvd.

The train up ahead is blocking in the waiting train. The next train was waiting to pull in after the waiting train left.

Here is what I don't get why did they rename many sets of R142As equipped with CBTC components to R188s?? They could be just left it as R188 but that was too extra to rename an R142A equipped with CBTC components to an R188
Exautical Because the conversion of the R142As to R188s ARE part of the R188 contract. Therefore, it made sense for them to rename them the R188s.
