- Shot from 9 AM to 10 AM (1/25/17). Taking advantage of the 45 min block of trains that run express in the reverse peak direction every morning to get a round trip recording of the express run going both ways. Trains can fly through this station on the express in the Bronx bound direction at 45 MPH (skip to the last 10 min to see this). Manhattan bound direction is marginally slower, at about 40 MPH. When I watch a video on the 6 line in 2001 there was R62A and red bird and R142A on the 6 train line and the there was some R62A before the R142A like why did MTA Replace R142A with a R62A
That was when I was 4 years old by the way I love these 6 trains R142A and R62
7:40/ Now there's a sight to behold! Old school US Steel elevated subway line operating since 1920! And can still withstand all those heavy subway cars occupying the same area at the same time! Reminds me of the peak express hours from the Whitlock Avenue Station. To see trains passing each other on all 3 tracks simultaneously? On a curve built like a roller coaster, no less?! Just because the r62as came to the 6 doesn't mean it's a bad thing because it's just a train. We shouldn't complain because at the end of the day the MTA is in charge of the subway system. They know what's the right thing to do! They also make sure that we get from point a to point b. We all are gonna have to deal with the r62as on the 6 line! Complaining for the r62as to go back to the 7 isn't gonna change the MTA's mind. So let's all calm down!
+Karen Evans To me they look perfect for that line. I grew up with the r62as on the 6 train. When they had yellow stickers. The R142as suck. Thank goodness the mta brought them back to where they belong in regards to the r62as back on the 6.
The 6 and 7 swapped fleets when the 7 went CBTC. Before, the 6 line had 100% R142A's, the 4 was split between R142's and R142A's, while the 7 was operated entirely with R62A's. Most of the R142A's on the 6 were converted to R188's for operation on the 7. They lengthened the trains to 11 cars from 10, and added the CBTC equipment. The R142A's that operated on the 4, which was the only other line that had them (the 2 and 5 are run with R142's) remained unconverted and still operate there. This actually is a good thing for the 6 line because when they the single unit R62A's that were used to make 11 car trains on the 7 and made them into a few extra sets for the 6.

Pizarro um no the r142a's don't have an annoying alarm that sometimes the R62A's have the r142a's tells the time even if your phone is dead the r142a's have a nice sound the R62A's have an annoying sound the r142a's were good on the 6 the 1 line R62A's and R62's don't even look right they look old why not put R62A's on the 1 line and put back r142a's on the 6 line and then make actually real r188's on the 7 instead of six cars make 11 car trains of r188's the 6 line gets more passengers then the 7 anyway go to Lexington and you will see
I would love the R62A's on the 6 if the trains would just say Pelham bay park and Brooklyn bridge city hall and the R142as only go to parkchester and Brooklyn bridge city hall
LIRR SBS PRODUCTION It would be better if the R62As ran to both terminals. Putting R142As in a yard with R62As would do nothing but add a stockpile of parts in the maintenance shop.

2017 buddy they put the R62s back on the 6
They switched the R62a from the 7 line to the 6 and those R142a from the 6 switched to the 7 (hopefully that makes sense)
These are some great video clips ! I was wondering if there is a location where you can see several stations along a straight section, such as from a bridge directly over the track, and if you can film from a fixed position, zoomed in. Kind of like this at 0:54, but instead from up on an overpass where you can see several stations ahead in a straight line, not just the next one. Does that make sense? For example, J/Z platforms at Broadway Junction looking toward Myrtle Ave.

I am moving out of pelham bay area because of the 6 train services and all the delays.
No door indicator lights on the 62's? In the 70's a car would be locked down and out of service (Sometimes the whole train) if the indicator light didn't function.

Brett Walters I'd assume because ofhow they're newer. Personally, I have a soft spot for the older R62s. They hold more nostalgia, and they're one of the first things I think of when I think NYC.
MATTHEW HERNANDEZ Who cares? The line isn’t getting CBTC yet, and plus, the R62As are better for 6 line operations because of the LEDs. Also, there will be 2 extra trains added to the schedule because of the swap.

Y them 6 trains ugly now. I use to like the r142a models. Prolly switched them trains with the 7 line
They did. The 7 got it since the population along the line has been growing, and they need more trains to handle the growth in ridership and stem signal problems. Therefore, they took the R142As from the 6, which quite frankly doesn't have a legit excuse to have them anymore for the meanwhile, and converted them into R188s for the 7 and its western extension that caused the addition of 66 additional cars to the fleet. The R62As returned home to its rightful place on the 6, where they have received positive acclaim from both riders, operators, and maintenance shop employees.

I remember when riding the trains were more safer, but after Covid-19, people have lost it…mostly the homeless folks who couldn’t fend for themselves bc they couldn’t take care of theirselves, now they use the train stations as a mean of shelter so they don’t freeze to death or get wet from the rain.
How do they convert theR142A to a R188
Roman Imperator They add CBTC parts to the underside of the trains, and add a CBTC console behind the drivers cab.
They changed the door chime and added in CBTC so now it’s way different from the R142A

Kingston Batista The R142As DO NOT shine on the 6. With the R62As on the 6, the cabs can let the LED lights work its magic and really make the 6 shine like it once did.

@@ragvirsinghhothi8848 Why? The line just got a modern CBTC system and needed those R142As for the beneficial operation.
R62A received new led lights inside the subway car so that it would be much brighter in the subway car and not dark. All R62A have this, except for R62.

@@superbrownsheep3777 You know that the R62as used to run on the 3 line before they got transferred to the Flushing line for a replacements of the old Redbirds the R62s that was on the Jerome avenue four line were sent to the 3 to replace the R62as That s how the R142as came to the Pelham line and got replaced by the Redbirds and the R62as on the Pelham line

I like the R62A its still cool to see them on the 6 but I still like the R142A 6 trains better and thats my childhood i have so many fun memores expecialy the car 7600 I would always run in to that car every time i got on a R142A 6 there it goes 7600 and it was the last set of cars to remain on 6 line service until may 22 2018 the last set remaining on the 6 that was R142A type was sent to the 4 line but i think it got scraped for more cars that are R188 cars for the 7 line hope to see R188 and maybe some R142A from the 4 because jerome does not take care of its R142A cars on the 6 in the future along with the new R262A cars and hope to see R62A back on the 7 as well
