NYC Subway: (N) Trains Terminating at Queensboro Plaza
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 апр 2015
- Today we are at Queensboro Plaza in Long Island City (Queens) on a Saturday afternoon.
Because of construction, there was no (N) train service between Manhattan and Queensboro Plaza. Therefore, (N) trains from Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard terminated at Queensboro Plaza on the lower level platform.
Besides terminating (N) trains, this film also shows some (7) trains on both the lower and upper levels of this fascinating elevated subway station.
Enjoy!
Filmed on 4 April, 2015. Авто/Мото
Fun fact:the (7) train is the only train in the whole NYCT system with 11 car sets all other trains have 10 or less
Wow didn’t knew that thx
xXBryanXx Jimenez no problem
@Ian Aquino thank you

I would be shocked to see all 12 cars on the 7 line on the MTA
The platforms that the N and W trains now use were once used by Second Avenue elevated trains which crossed the East River on the Queensboro Bridge before service ended in 1942. In October 1949 the former BMT half of the station was abandoned and the tracks rerouted so that BMT trains served Astoria and IRT trains from Times Square served the Flushing line. The old platforms and elevated structure were torn down in the early 1960s. There is a double crossover on the upper level east of the station which is the only track connection from the 7 line to the rest of the subway system. Work trains and trains in transit to Coney Island or 207th St. shops for repairs use this connection.
murray1575 That crossover is also used to transfer equipment onto and off the 7 line, like in 2002, when the R62As were transferred onto the 7 line to retire the Redbird cars, and just recently when the R62As were transferred off the 7 line for CBTC installation.
F***
Let me see when the train would be fast.
5:18 - 5:26 is the sound of the N train I was waiting for

I love your videos and how you are documenting NYC's subway lines.
Thank you for the videos been to NYC 4 times friendliest people in the world 🙂
This is one of my favorite stations ever
Queensboro plaza is my favorite station too
me too
Nicely shot with fine audio too in documenting the unusual circumstances on this day at QBP!
Missing your regular videos @Luftschlange! this is a great one
Beautiful. I love the sounds... :)
I like the "7" logo on the channel photo- it matches with the flushing '7' trains
Nice video. Queensboro is one of my favorite stations. The others are Coney Island, and Broadway Junction. I think I like the complexities of the stations. It is not just 1 train gong and coming.
It's amazing how much longer the trains are than London.
Even if I go to this stop everyday, I will never be bored by it.

Two legends with each other R160(N) and R62 (7) trains
Thank you for this Great Video.Mmmmmmmm
I enjoyed this video.
which of those lines must occupy more of the Queensboro Plaza platforms than the other one does, must N be the champ there?
7 train( Flushing) began at 34st Hudson Yards now in 2018
The funniest part when the passengers thought the N train was going to Manhattan.

NYC Subway: 13 Gym Trains Departing and Terminating at 6th Street / Hoyt Schmerhorn Street Station 🚉!

I forget, is there a Free Xfer passageway down to Queens Plaza Station?
ad 骆伟焜: Don't worry, your English is excellent. It's true that the last shot of the film shows a particularly slow moving train. I believe the reason is that its tail is still moving through the tight curve that comes right after the station. The usual travel speeds are somewhat higher. I don't live in a suburb, but I'd imagine that it can take quite some time to reach downtown. The infrastructure here is very old and under heavy stress (the subway runs 24 hours a day), so trains usually don't go as fast as they could be.
Du wohnst an der (7), nicht? Irgendwo zwischen Grand Central und Queens, vermute ich
Ja, meine Heimatstation ist Vernon Blvd-Jackson Ave.
Luftschlange The smell of natural rocks and train tracks, then the sound of trains arriving, the station gently rumbling, it never gets old. .
Why did MTA make the queensboro plaza station share the IRT With the BMT?
+Mintu Chowdhury The station was built when the MTA did not exist yet. It was just the indepented, private companies of IRT and BMT. The station was built like that, because in the beginning IRT trains also ran to Ditmars Blvd and BMT trains also ran to Flushing, later this was abandoned, but it would have been dumb to rebuild Queensboro Plaza station
Hey boy! Did you know , that famous Russian blogger "Badcomedian" used your video at the background in one of his scatch ?
Could you send the link? I’d like to see it!
Around Queensboro Plaza there are signs there could have been more tracks flowing in and out of the station. Did it used to be a much bigger station at one time? Did trains go over the bridge?
Yes

lol
Sorry for my English. :-P I wonder if the trains run so slow just like the one at the end of the film all the time? Will it take much time to get to downtown from suburb?
Mashdash
Or construction work and problems with anything.
Theres some suburban parts of Queens or Brooklyn that arent too far from Manhattan. It can take 30-60+ minutes depending on which neighborhood you live in and if the subway serves it directly.
Hey luftschlange can you do Qtrain mat nyc
why no more vids?
Fascinating station!! 😀
That station is soo cool man
how does the N turn around at Queensboro Plaza?
There's a junction north of the station but can only terminate trains on the lower level track and is very unreliable
Wow that honking train scared me ;)
Redstone Creeper same
I agree. Everyone needs to be sure to turn down the volume when it shows a film that's filming the tracks that leads to north
Don’t worry if you are scared just be patient.
once I took a train to coney island but it was single track so The n train was delayes
Me too
cool tour.
I like the track-layout.
Reason Being For That CBTC In Operation Sign At 1:00? I Know That Is Not The Southbound (7) Track But The Southbound (N) And (Q) Track... Nice Videos!
That's a good question and I was wondering about that too. Maybe it is because there is a physical connection with the Flushing Line just after the station?
+Luftschlange Hmm... I Guess So? At Queensboro Plaza, I Have Seen A Punch Box On The Upper Level For The Crossover Between the BMT Astoria and Flushing Lines But About The Lower Level, I Am Unsure About The Sign though.
I’ve never been to this station before
I’m confused. How are they going the opposite way but both end up in Manhattan?
they are just entering manhattan through different sides from the videos pov the n/w trains are going to manhattan by going north but the 7 trains are turning west then turning north again
Looking forward to being part of it.
Is that me or is this R62A train used beep sound r
From the long island railroad
I had a question for u do subway trains wear slippers, clothes, and boots?
Yes they do
Wait... The trains only went from Astoria to Queensboro?
No because of construction near Queensboro plaza
Trains from Manhattan terminated where?
Trains from Astoria
The q trains use to go to Astoria ditmars blvd now it goes to 96-2avenue
Is that me or is this R62A train used Beep sound from the long island railroad
2:43 that is just beautiful
Can you make your captions readable? Mostly it blends in with the background! Other than that great visual 🎙️[never mind]
At least there is one train master in youtube. Thanks because wiki is not trustable
Isn't the gap too big for the BMT Trains at the IRT Stations?
Close... the gaps are too big for IRT trains at BMT stations.
Well, think about BMT trains at the IRT stations will look like. The IND/BMT trains are 10 feet wide, and the IRT trains are 8 feet wide. So if you put them on the IRT platforms , I think the paltform is broken. But if you are doing the opposite, then the gap is a little bit far. And also the length of the trains. IND/BMT trains, too long at the IRT platforms; IRT trains, too short at the IND/BMT platforms. So let's say they are going back to their original lines.
THAT FREAKING HORN
I don't think I'd ever be able to ride on the NYC subway. From what I see, there is a map available for the trains, but they rarely stick to it; also the local-express part confuses me a lot. Why would a train skip stations, when *do* they skip stations; it just seems so difficult to find my way around!
+TheBandicootCrash Seriously? 5 million people manage to find their ways around every day. Don't worry :-)
+Luftschlange i dont know... I guess it's because it's much different from what I have in my country because NYC is so dynamic. Over here there's 15 fixed routes and that's it! Haha
+TheBandicootCrash Well, routes are fixed in NYC too. Only for construction there may be alterations. Most of the time services run according to the displayed map.
+Luftschlange really? Perhaps I got some various videos I watched confused; but what does it mean when a train is a local, but runs, say, Bronx express? And such?
It's actually very simple. Some trains skip stations because it allows a faster travel. It is known in advance which trains are express and which are local. Say, lines 4, 5 and 6 in Manhattan have the same ("green") route. Of them, 4 and 5 are always express whereas 6 is always local. So if you have to travel a long way across Manhattan and you are approaching a platform, you'd rather take 4 or 5 train because it's faster.
Usually there are 4 tracks along each line, of them two are for the local trains that stop at all stations and another two tracks are for the express trains. Those stations where the express trains stop have 4 platforms whereas local stations have only 2 platforms, letting the express trains pass at high speed without having a danger to hurt anyone.
What about the (Q) trains?
jonathan chan at the time the video was taken, Q service served Astoria, but only during the weekdays. Now, the W returned to take back that role, with the Q going to the Second Avenue Subway.
You should have put the audio warning in the description about that loud horn
Lol I thought there was a train in my room!
wow your like a actual nyc subway teacher!
I miss the r142a’s on the 6 line I’m never in queens
I miss them too.
Peace n kindness down under Sydney Australia
🍺👍😁🚬
This facility is the only place one can change divisons. IRT or A division to BMT/.IND B division on the same platform. Please observe how well these transfers are executed.Credit the MTA....

Cool
Train is just N train but it go very fast when the train stop the people has to go getting on the ride when the train go people has go to the next step. It goes faster subway train when the train stop to next step.
I don't get it
They could’ve made shuttle buses to go to the other N and Q train stations
I used to be scared when the r162 train turned cause it looked like it was finna fall
R142, you mean?
Nice 11 car 7 train
Before the (7) took all the r142’s off my (6) line
I loved the r46 7trains i like it still
You mean the R62A 7 train?
No the trians like 1 train the tpye
Yeah those are the R62/R62A subway cars. R46 can't fit on any A division lines which are the number lines, because they're too wide. R46 only runs on the B division lines. It runs on the A, sometimes F, and R.
And those old R32/R46 trains have to run to the Rockaways since the MTA doesn't want the newer trains to be damaged by the sea air. That's why you only see R160's and R179's going to Lefferts Blvd.
At least, on the A train.
W is restored, though
Nice, they have some newer R143 trains on line 7 now. Previously there were only older trains.
bormisha *R142A's and r188's
+bormisha They moved them to the 6 train
DJ_Ultra ???
bormisha It's R188. Not R143 Cuz Its IRT Not BMT/IND.
Yep
Can you please do some rail fanning on the Second Avenue Subway for me please? BTW great video!
+William Scoufaras Thanks but I do no longer live in NYC, unfortunately.
Luftschlange ok no problem. It was just a request. No pressure
