Same thing with 4 & 5 downtown trains, even in the summer. All sweaty and just being squeezed into the middle of the train... Very typical on a morning. Haven't experienced the rush hour during the regular work year, though (Such as October or January).
Pee nobody really cares about. It's when somebody shits on the seat that people clear out. But desperate time call for desperate measures. Like at school when some dick took a dump in all the urinals. wait wat
Our subway is a bit more “spread out” so, our stations aren’t as packed as in some other countries. 491 stations. Not only that, taxi's, uber and our buses help transport people.
Run Keral I'm one of those people. I love crowds, actually. I hate being the only one in public places like Starbucks, Walgreens, Malls, etc. I really don't like being the only one on the bus...it feels pointless for some reason.
Man I miss NYC! I've witnessed Penn Station on a Friday night! Yowza! Part of me completely loved it! I do wish Kmart would surrender their store at Penn so nice stores can go in there! City Target for the win!!!
Man I miss NYC! I've witnessed Penn Station on a Friday night! Yowza! Part of me completely loved it! I do wish Kmart would surrender their store at Penn so nice stores can go in there! City Target for the win!!!
I just watched some footage of the same exact station filmed in 1986. What I can tell you from the visual differences is that America, New York in particular, is color void. Meaning that the color in our apparel has all but vanished. About 85-90% of those filmed are wearing black. It's highly prevalent in the city's culture. The '86 footage had the full color spectrum in it. People were wearing mostly every color EXCEPT BLACK.. Now, it's all you see. Sad that we are either trying to be nondescript or we have generally just lost our individual identities?!?
You're right! Also, cars of yesteryear had colors, green, yellow, orange, blue, red. Now only white, black, grey, beige and some reds or blues. We are being washed out of the pleasure to enjoy vivid colors.
Since you seem to film something as particular as this in terms of location & time in the NYC Subway, I suggest you try filming the uptown platform on the B/D line at 145th Street between 6:40 PM & 7:30 PM during PM Rush Hours. Worst time to attempt to go from the Central Park West corridor to the Grand Concourse corridor. Also, perfect proof that they really need to extend the duration of Bronx-bound B service during PM rush hours. As it stands, it ends too early...
I’m so confused, as a Brit our trains are simple we have the train name ( Northern Line , Victoria Line etc ) and it stops at every station until the last stop unless there’s branches and each have their own colour. Can someone pleas explain how ny subway works like what’s the point of the numbers and letters?
I can explain. There are 10 different colors used. The color of a route tells you which main line in Manhattan it belongs to. They are the following: Red(1)(2)(3)-Broadway-7th Avenue Green(4)(5)(6)-Lexington Avenue Purple(7)-Flushing Line-42nd Street Blue(A)(C)(E)-8th Avenue Orange(B)(D)(F)(M)-6th Avenue Lime Green(G)-Crosstown Brown(J)(Z)-Nassau Street Silver(L)-Canarsie Line-14th Street Yellow(N)(Q)(R)(W)-Broadway Grey(S)-Shuttle Lines Each of the lines that have a certain color run on the corresponding line. For example the 4 is green so it runs on Lexington Avenue. The 5 is also Green so it also runs on Lexington. The 3 however is Red so instead of running on Lexington, it runs on 7th Avenue.
The idea is one line covers a certain 1 or 2 branches for the main line and another covers another 1 or 2 branches. Along with that, New York used a 4 track model to improve efficiency. If a line is local, it will usually run on the outside tracks an stop at every station. If it’s express, it will run usually in the middle track(s) and will only stop at the main stations on the route and skip the smaller ones, which improves efficiency and capacity on the line
Great video! Even more fun to watch at double speed. This system depends on many people being able to ascend many flights of stairs, with a few exceptions.
No way rush hour. I was at that station every morning going to work and going home. It was hot as hell!! So many people never took showers. Always smelled
Not only new cars (we got new cars in the 70s & 80s too and it never stopped the graffiti rats from defacing those new cars), but today's coating is anti-graffiti, plus they're protecting the train yards much better as well. Offering stiffer fines and jail time doesn't hurt either.
The announcements make us know who the subway is. But the music blocks that ugh, the announcements are a good little part of the video. Also, at 7:22 that screeching sound just sounds beautiful and makes me sleepy. Also why don't you upload videos?
Ordinary everyday people think they are going to get discovered so they start belting out lyrics with their instruments hoping someone notices them, wow.
I paused Coming to America to see what the subway trains of New York look like today. Good thing the graffitis on the trains are all gone now. I live in Japan and the subway trains here, even in Tokyo are all beautiful and so organized, but I still want to try to ride a New York subway train someday. 😁
+changeisnowpeople Being honest, sometimes trains are back to back, that is why this train not crowded. Trains and platforms can get very crowded in New York City subway during rush hours. My stop Lexington ave/ 53rd Street in Manhattan and Jackson heights/ 74th Street in Queens are good examples.
+cyrussnyc Train bunching, much? If only the public were educated on this concept...no train would have to be more crowded than the one behind it ever again. /sarcasm
cyrussnyc hahah.. could be, share those videos, I am sure, Mumbai trains are most efficient, Japan is similar to our situation, NY might be 100years behind :P ... anyways, I believe you have the financial capability to copy Copenhagen, after all cycle is the future of reducing congestion and reducing environment impact, reduce medical expenses, increase healthy people and increase immunity, increase peoples stamina, savings on gyming or taking out extra time for being healthy as traveling to work itself is a workout(a real time saver- 2 targets with one bullet)
Es gibt sogar in der New Yorker U-Bahn freies WLAN 07:05 ?! Deutschland muss in der Hinsicht echt besser werden, und wie immer schönes Video. Machst du das eigentlich mit Stativ?
I hope you don't mind an English reply. Yes, some of the stations in Manhattan and Queens have free WiFi (and also cell phone service). I think in Germany it's more difficult to provide free WiFi service because of legal reasons (the provider is made responsible for illegal activities of the users). I don't use a tripod, but when I film with my DSLR camera, I prefer to use a monopod with a fluid video head (when permitting). This allows for the smooth panning you can for example see in the 125th street video. However, I shot this film solely on an iPhone 6+, which has really great in-lens image stabilization, so you would just need some calm hands. :-)

gingerbread man true
gingerbread man they got rid of brush. What's your favourite class.
My top 3 are class 321 class 319 and 317.
gingerbread man cool, 315 is also quite nice. I used to hate it but when I looked at the 345, the 315 seemed like first class luxury travel.
I saw a completely empty subway car XD. I wonder who peed/shit/died in there
When the doors to that car open and you just get hit by a wave of stank

That's rush hour?! Where is everybody?
Rush hour normally ends at 7PM.
Alex Jbf looks like a Sunday at rush hour
simon wang (4)(5) Is the busiest train in manhattan
This was probably at the end of rush hour. This subway station can get really busy during peak rush hour times.
Our subway is a bit more “spread out” so, our stations aren’t as packed as in some other countries. 491 stations. Not only that, taxi's, uber and our buses help transport people.
Thanks for taking the time to film that! I found it helpful in preparing for our upcoming visit to NY.
This city is really for people who dont mind many other people around them.

Nathan Bush You're weird. An empty bus is so fucking nice and convenient.
Nathan Bush I feel you!! Cities like New York, Paris or Tokyo definitely get me going!! I sometimes can get depressed when there is no one around
why would you talk to a random person on the bus? @@pepehimovic3135
Sound of the train is music by its self
11:01 Note: This video was taken 6 months before the 7 Subway Extension opened.
Cool. NYC's subway looks and sounds like a nice place to see different things.
Except don't go on late nights lol
+Gino Florencia lol I rode the subway last week at 3:30am the 6 train to be exact from 33nd to 49th on manhattan

Gotta love subway performers... That guy on the bucket drum... not bad... :) Gotta love NYC. :)
I hate them, and most real NYers hate them too. That's never been a "New York thing".
i mean, i'm a native NYer and i enjoy them sometimes.
"please step aside and let customers off"
do they really gotta remind people that people getting off have the right of way?
They mean you should let passengers off the train first before you get on the train.
i know what they mean but it's a shame they have to

THIS IS NY

So mostly tourist are here and people who are unfamiliar with the Subway and how we do things
Michael keating Because some people act like arrogant idiots

the sound of the motor is so cool hahaha
Its got to be a mad house at that place during that time. Earlier it was probably even worse. Can't imagine.
I wish we had such calm rush hours in London
NYC is a lot busier than London could dream to be. This isn’t rush hour.
@@suhana8516 that was the point of my comment

This cannot be rush hour. Nobody's rushing!
mmm I think he means rush hours as the trains rushing to other stations :) sorry if i sound mean :l
The “rush hour” is so much better than here in Jakarta. 😂
The reason why your one is worse is because you have no public transportation and you just have to drive everywhere!
Lord Revan We do have many public transportations, it’s just the population is too high
Oh that explains it
