I have bought several hypertough tools and ha e been very happy. Mind you they are only for home use, nothing heavy.

Thank you so much for this review. I'm in Louisiana too and I just need something to cut my yard that's only 1/2 an acre.

I got the same mower spring 2019 and it is tough. I've run over so many sticks, overgrown weeds, wet grass, small shrubs, netting, bricks, got rope wrapped around the blade, etc.. Love it. It kept cranking even when I would choke it out. I have only put a new filter in maintenance-wise. Too lazy to clean the dirty one.

In the fall of 2017 my heavy $500 drive-assist Toro quit after 5 years. Best I could determine it was the carburetor. Turns out the carb is a single block of metal that costs $150+ to replace. So, I replaced it with one of these instead ($149 then). First one would not start for anything; took it back and they gave me a new one. Second one was missing several parts, including the screws to hold the handle together; took that back. Third time was the charm: still using it and never have had a single problem, always starts (better than the Toro ever did, too). I think the failure rate (lack of quality control) on most products is far higher than it used to be, regardless of brand, but if you get a good one of these it will last and perform very well.

I bought mine tonight for $231, with tax @ Walmart. Watched both of your videos on this machine. I am confident it is perfect for my yard. My lot is less than 1/4 acre and I am in New England, so it won't get as much use as yours and last me a long time. Thanks.

My brother has this mower, he has used it heavily, it was running rough at the beginning of this season, changed the oil, spark plug, ran some seafoam through it & it is running good again, I think it is a solid mower, made it through a season of heavy use & I think it will easily make it though another one, got to love the price too.

Just purchased this mower. Pending delivery and I'm excited. Gone thru 2 electric mowers, they just die! .Tired of cords! Hoping this works well. Small yard.

For anyone new to changing oil on push mowers or storage of them...never ever tip them towards the carburator for extended time frame..the oil WILL fill into carb and you will be in for a treat tearing the carb off and cleaning it.

I bought the same mower probably 3 seasons ago and it still works just fine the only thing I have an issue with is now I live in East TN and the grass in my yard grows so fast and thick I actually have to raise my deck higher to get it cut without choking the mower out. Besides that it does what I want it to do, it's just a little underpowered for my needs here.

  • @norge696

You're suppose to change the oil within the first 5 hours due to the manufacturing process of the engine block. You'll have small aluminum shavings in the engine oil. Warm up the engine for a few minutes then drain the oil.

I've had my Hypertough push mower for 5 years. Its great. All I have done was change oil and sharpen the blade. Other than that it's a good little mower. But its been light to medium use.

    You have to consider ETHANOL.
I understand that in the South it is still pretty easy to find gas sold WITHOUT ethanol added. This is probably what the author of this video uses. That is why he has no problem. Other people, (for example, up north), don't have a choice but to buy their gas with ETHANOL mix (10% most commonly). This is what causes starting problems. Not at first, but later. You see, ethanol extracts water from the atmosphere, and you wind up with water in your tank.
If you use Ethanol mixed gas, make sure to use a fuel stablizer product, like STA-BIL. I think you mix about half an ounce per gallon to your gas.
Stabilizer works so well that I have seen a mower hard to start because of water problem, and then splashing a little STA-BIL in the tank, waiting a couple of minutes, and have the mower start well.
