- I was looking for Lordes cover tribute of David Bowie's "Life On Mars?" from the Brit Awards last night and I couldn't find a video including just the Life On Mars section of the song and seems as it's difficult to just find the song part from the official video so I've decided to upload just the song (again) ((It got taken down before ))
I in no way claim to own this. All rights go to The Brit Awards and Lorde herself I guess. The picture used in the video was posted by ReeFSubagja on Deviant Art. I claim no right over that either!

@@JohnDoe-xv9du Bowie was so much more than just an eccentric guy. You can’t just boil it down to that. Especially with a track like Life On Mars, which comes off probably his most grounded and down-to-earth album Hunky Dory.

Joe Gervasi Eh, I thought hers was alright. It was kind of a mess but I thought her version of Space Oddity was quite good. Even though it lasted like 10 seconds
David would've loved this performance. Brought me to tears... I miss him everyday and listening to this cover makes me feel not so alone. Lorde found inspiration in Bowie just as I have and you can hear that in her vocals.

Lorde is one of the best and perhaps the most underrated artist of the decade.

+Lewys Cousins I agree this was a great tribute - I've listened to it so many times, and as wonderful as it would be to hear it in the charts, I think it's nice to have it as just a one off. The emotion would probably be lost when recorded in the studio and only having one performance kind of makes it extra special if you know what I mean. Like a final goodbye.

Lords is the last person I would have thought of but nobody else could have pulled this off she smashed it
Lifelong Bowie fan, ever since seeing his Station to Station (Isolar) tour back in 1976. I was for the first time in my life struck with how deep a loss it can be to lose someone i never actually met. I miss having him on the planet looking forwards for us, forecasting what's to come. This was my first intro to Lorde and i've been a fan of hers since. And yes Bowie's statement about her being the future of music, that can't hurt, eh? So sweet, still pierces my heart listing to this. Thank you for posting it!

Now this is what I call a tribute! Thanks to Lorde, wonderful performance of one of David Bowie's songs.
I find myself returning to this performance by Lorde (and Bowies's original band) not only because of its stylish and authentic tribute/celebration to Bowie, but also because of Bowie's 'cutting edge' belief in the future of music. I can only conclude its in mighty good hands if this performance is anything to go by :)
What a beautiful tribute from a friend. Glad they met before Bowie died. He really loved her and gave her such a boost with his kind words, and he really wanted to hear something exciting and new in music and that was her!

Bowie's will always be my favorite but I love this cover. Lorde's voice is unmistakable in its own right just like Bowie's.
I wish this was on Apple Music or something besides just youtube. Such a beautiful cover.
Yeah, I really don't know why they didn't do that tbh. A lot of live performances like this get albums or singles whether it's a cover or their own song. As far as I know, there's no version of Lorde's tribute to Bowie on any music services like iTunes or Spotify and there's no version higher than 192kbps (RUclips scales this down to 128kbps anyway).
I'll add an update in the description if I ever find anything!

Lorde’s cover is an “official” one, so to speak. Bowie declared her as the future of music, and his family personally picked her to do this tribute.

Blisteringly great tribute.
The best tribute/cover done for Bowie of course with Bowies orig band... just as good as the tribute Bowie and Annie did for Freddy Mercury w/ Under pressure but to get the full effect you have to watch Lordes performance with this song and the band.
