    I owned 3 tundras, 2 tacomas in the past. Got hooked when i got into my friend's Ridgeline. Let me tell you, there is no comparison between a Toyota and a Ridgeline. I bought me Ridgeline on 4-2018 and there is no regrets.

    People complain that this isn't a real truck, but yet, never take their pickup truck off-roading or use their truck to its full advantage or even use the bed part of their truck...Honestly this is great truck for daily driving and has a bed for when you need to use it.

      Look at it a different way. It's not a real truck and doesn't have many of the capabilities of a real truck. Yet they charge the same price as a real truck...that's my only gripe with it. Less capable should equate to less cost.

    It’s amazes me how many people can watch videos on the Honda Ridgeline if they don’t really like the truck also looks to me like they are very curious to see what Honda is doing. Honda slowly blowing the competition out of the water for 95% of the people that’s all the truck you’ll ever need.

    • @Yul-Uhlu
      @Yul-Uhlu 6 лет назад

      First model was nice and alot more truck worthy. Being curious about this model doesn't make us hippocratic. This is just a quick spot filler for Honda's line up. Bring back the previous model with some current updates and I'd be 100% for it. This is not a truck, it's a honda pilot chop job with some frame reinforcements, period.

      It has a bed and it tows 5,000 lbs with a ton of creature comforts. Far from a "filler". However it does "fill" the need of 98% of truck owners who do ZERO off roading. Think a little next time before commenting. You look foolish.

    • @pillrollerdeluxe

      @@Johnfanclub Why do you care? Buy your overpriced truck that busts your back. If you do any research, the Ridgeline blows away just about every truck in it's category in terms of ride, tech and reliability. All while being able to tow 5,000 lbs. Hardly a "car with a bed nothing more". But Dopey you just go ahead and enjoy your noisy back breaking "manly" truck.

    Nice thorough review. Just bought the Ridgeline after road testing the Tacoma and canyon. For Minnesota winters you can’t go wrong with the Honda SHAWD system it will out perform most 4x4 systems, unless you plan to do slow speed off-road. The ridgeline has Better handling and you have the bed for when you need to haul anything under 1600lbs, tow 5k lbs. Plus when you need to merge into the highway you’ll have no issues, the Tacoma and canyon’s gas pedal will hesitate before you get any torque!

      I think the Ridgeline is superior to all other mid sized trucks out there in all the areas that matter. AWD traction, interior space, interior quality, features, storage, quality, fuel efficiency and the list goes on. It doesn't have low range or high ground clearance but it's still a great choice for those not needing those capabilities.

    I love the concept of the RL; However, I'm not a fan of the exterior. I truly believe they'd bridge the gap with Tacoma if Honda would change the aesthetics of the RL. It needs more of an aggressive look / stance before I pull the trigger on one. I test drove it and absolutely loved its handling characteristics, but I won't let my full sized Ram go and take the RL plunge unless Honda changes the look to give the RL a better and more truck like stance. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice vehicle, just not what I want in a truck! Get rid of the car looking / Pilot front end and give it a little more ground clearance to give it some gap between the tires and fenders. There's a company called Traxda, who offers a quality 2" lift for the RL, but Honda should offer a package of their own. C'mon Honda... COME THROUGH FOR 2020!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @NorskeDrummer
      @NorskeDrummer 5 лет назад +3

      I'm guessing they purposely don't want it to look like the typical trucks you're accustomed to. I personally can't stand the grilles on most of today's trucks. They're tripping over each other to see who can make the most aggressive and over-the-top-macho styling. I prefer the RL styling exactly because of that.

    I hope that in the new models to come for the Ridgeline, they update the front fascia to appear more aggressively designed or manlier, if you will. I feel that the overall boxy contour of the rear of the vehicle doesn't jive with the smoothness/curviness of the front. Also, I think it would also be nice if it had a wide center arm rest/storage compartment as is the case for most pick-up trucks. Aside from those mentioned, this is definitely something I'd consider buying in the future. Go Honda!

    I saw two of these today at a local Sprouts market. I had to blink twice at the sight. Saw one of the previous gen style and the second was the current style. The fact they look plain or dull I’m beginning to think is a quirk. You see one pass in front of you and your eyes glaze past and not really seeing a truck but shorthand for pilot suv. I wonder how many people have been pulled over for speeding in these. If Honda keeps this vehicle they may try to go full truck frame and stick this cab on it. Normally I want a truck to be a truck but all things considered if I needed something brand new to fill 85% of my occasional needs this may do if I don’t find something else shiny to see on dealer lots

    A somewhat surprising negative is that it has the worst depreciation score of the segment, with Tacoma naturally scoring a 10, but Colorado and Frontier coming in with 8's, and the Ridgeline only at 7. Weird for a Honda, but I guess it makes sense; it's not "heavy duty" like the competition, so if it's used like a work truck, it won't hold up as well. I doubt most owners use them like that, but perception is reality when it comes to depreciation.

    Pretty much every review of the Ridgeline concludes it's a very capable small/midsize truck. Hopefully it will get the front end from the new Honda Passport.

    Honda makes very good vehicles. This is a niche vehicle. They sell 10-50k Ridgeline per year over the years back to gen one. Ford sells over 400,000 F150s, and Chevy sells @300,000 Silverados and 80-100,000 Colorado’s per year looking at 2017 and ytd 2018 numbers in the USA. The new Ridgeline It’s a nice niche vehicle for someone who wants a bed, but does not want a truck like drive. To me this is a modern, better El Camino.

    In my opinion, if it has a bed it's a truck. Does not matter if it's a unibody or not. That being said, I would probably buy a tacoma or frontier or maybe the upcoming ranger because I want something that will drive like a truck.

      @@qualitylandscapeandhauling7942 I'm thinking this might be perfect for my landscaping business, as long as it can tow a 52 inch z-mower with small trailer. My other truck is a 4x4 f-350 with a dump insert, be nice to have a smooth ride when doing small jobs.

    • @qualitylandscapeandhauling7942
      @qualitylandscapeandhauling7942 5 лет назад

      @@earthboundmisfiti2428 I test drove a Honda Ridgeline and it drove smooth. I really liked it. I just thought they were a bit expensive. So I ended up buying a used ex at&t truck for $4k. It's a Chevy 1500, v6, long bed, with a commercial camper on it. So it's perfect for my landscaping business. Maybe in the future I will buy a Honda Ridgeline.

      Elijah Dorce' I respect Honda because its always in the same class as Toyota on reliability and quality. I just don’t understand why their car designs have go so ugly. Not only the Ridgeline but the new Accord and Civic.

      ELPJM09 I feel you. Hondas are excellent cars in terms of reliability and engineering, and honestly I don’t have a problem with their Accords or their Civics. I’m looking forward to having one of those one day. But one thing I want to complain about is the 2018 Camrys, I honestly think the grilles look worse than the previous ones. I’m sure it looks good on the inside, but the new grilles are a major turn off for me

    Seriously I have a Ram 1500 4x4 and just saw a Honda Ridgeline stuck on level ground in a parking lot. I pulled up next to them being pulled out by a F150! I drove all over in same area as the ride line not ever spinning any of my wheels. Snow about 10 inches. All four wheels spinning on Ridgeline doing nothing. It’s not the tires it’s the AWD system of lack of it. Subaru would have walked right through this area. In Montana I have seen same thing with Honda CRV and I told my wife that no Honda AWD systems allowed on our property.

    I was waiting to see what the ford ranger had to offer as it looked like it might be good, well the reviews are out and its just plain disappointing. Looks like I will be trading my G1 Ridgeline for a G2, interior is way better than any other midsize, rear seat setup is better than any other, bed is better, trunk in bed is incredibly useful I use it all the time in my G1, tailgate is better than others if you've never used it you don't get it but once you have the swing tailgate you won't want anything else, Mpg is better than most, rides better than others. Only down sides are tow capacity, and offroad worthiness but both of those are not that important to me. My boat and pop up camper are both under 5k, I hardly ever go offroad other than campsites and the beach. G2 RL its going to be for me.

    I've had Honda cars before and have 0 complaints. I'm planning on moving to Texas in a future and this vehicule looks in a way what I need. I'm not pulling anything heavy I would buy it just so we can have a vehicule in case we need to go to the hardware store or maybe maybe carry something you wouldn't be carrying in a Pathfinder which is the vehicule we currently have. My only concern will be how durable will this engine be. Will it start crapping by the 100,000 miles?
