But I got tired of the size of it and the ride and the crappy gas mileage so it was replaced by the Ridgeline. Yes that's right I replaced a Tundra with a Honda Ridgeline and it will do everything I need it to do in almost luxury SUV way. I love my 2017 RTL-E. No issues whatsoever; when I press the start button it starts; when I press the gas pedal, it accelerates; when I press the break pedal it stops; so on, so forth.
I boight a brand new 2018 last year. First owner with only 17kms on it. I now have over 90000kms in about a year and a half. Absolutely love the truck still rides like a dream. It also has been fully capable of things I love to do and need a truck for. Camping trips, moving friends, hauling toys, 4 wheelers etc. and just driving to work its my office.

I saw Mr. Truck speaking about diesel trucks and my thoughts were that men drive diesel pickups as a status symbol. There’s a guy on my street who bought a gas F250. He works 5 days a week and occasionally pulls his camper. No need to have a diesel if you don’t tow for a living.
I think the reason why you need to walk up and be in proximity of rolling the windows up is so you can be sure nothing is going to get caught. That way you don't accidentally kill your dogo or something while the key is in your pocket.
As a ridgeline owner, I have to disagree. I'd say that 3/4's of truck owners could get by with a car or small cross over and just borrow/rent one the two times a year they actually tow something or use the bed for outsized or loose cargo and save literally tens of thousands of dollars in fuel and loan payments (trucks are incredibly expensive these days, even base model gas job half tons can go for 50k cad). As for those of us that use them semi regularly but not professionally, I'm a firm believer in late 90's beater wagons and a commuter car as my daily, because, again, you will save 10's of thousands of dollars in fuel and loan payments (not to mention up keep and insurance) and you won't feel any where near as bad when you inevitably scratch or dent it. At the end of the day, they're work vehicles, and what you spend your money on is your prerogative, just make sure that A) you can handle the payment's, because you will get tired of them before they get tired of you, and B) that you actually want it and are not just doing it to fit in with a group of people whom you regard as friends, because, I guarantee that if you run into financial trouble, that few if any of them will rush in to hand you money to keep paying for your blinged out 21st century Chuck wagon.

@@johnlopez3001 I agree, the new Ridgeline looks too much like a minivan. Aerodynamics, fuel economy, and cost cutting most likely to blame. Don't get your hopes up for the 3rd Gen ridgeline either. I love my 2020 Ridgeline, your right, it's exactly what most truck owners really need. If you think the interior of a Ridgeline looks dated, look at the interior of most newer year American branded trucks look like (they all look like they were designed and styled by geriatrics)
I love mine. There are somethings I wish it had or could do, but they are only wants, not needs. Mostly I wanted the AC seats and working seat heaters that Canada gets. On my 30min drive to and from work my seat heaters come on about 20min in. Otherwise I wish I could tow more, but I don't need that right now. I want to hopefully get a car trailer to move a small tractor or cars around. But no need yet. I love the trunk for groceries and other storage. Plus with the trunk I can haul the same amount of firewood total as my friend's 6ft bed Tacoma. That doesn't include the fold up rear seats.
You don't buy this if you need heavy towing capacity. Of course, most people need that once or twice a year, if they need it all. All of those huge monsters trucks mostly get challenged with the tough trip to Home Depot on the weekend.
My neighbors are Mexicans , they have 3 full size trucks. Never once I saw them haul or tow anything beside groceries from walmart... This would be great for people that don't need to tow a yacht or tank.
Duhh, but 90% of those buyers will never admit it or give it a try before they knock it. Sorta like all the Tesla haters keying cars and blocking the chargers.
Because they only care what others think about them driving one, a real man doesn’t care and will buy what he likes, without a care in the world about what anyone else thinks. It’s called having some balls and going out of you’re comfort zone. 🤷🏻♂️👏🏻👏🏻
Its funny how people bash the Ridgeline yet it has had certain features that REAL trucks are just now getting almost 15yrs later. The first Composite bed and now manufactures are doing that, it had lights in the bed now everyone is doing that, it has a trunk now everyone is giving some kind of storage in the bed(ways smaller than the ridgeline), it has multi-way tailgate now everyone is doing that, 8 Tie downs in the bed new REAL trucks in 2020 in some cases they are still options and all of these features were standard in 2006 on the Ridgeline. While you may hate the Ridgeline you can thank the Ridgeline for all your REAL truck bed conveniences.
Depends how old you are. In your 20s you want a tough lookin Tacoma/Jeep. In your 30s a Ranger/Colorado cause they look good but also comfy for that commute cause now you have a job. If you over 40, your life is over and the only thing you need a truck for is to go to Home Depot and get fertilizer and plants for your mother in law otherwise your wife will yell at you so you get a Ridgeline cause face it no one is looking at you and you might as well be comfortable in your valuable alone time.
I have 19E Ridgeline and a 69 Camaro with LS3, 5 speed, 4 link coilovers at the rear, mini tub, coilovers at the front. I drive my Camaro more to Home Depo...and I'm 50.
Traded my Tacoma for a dealer owned ‘13 Ridgeline RTL. I looked at Tacos, GM, Nissan. Paid 30k, for a fully loaded 19k miles. It’s not a real truck.....other dull sized truck owners say. Hmmmm. I tow my boat, put 2 pallets of Pergo flooring in it. All in leather clad comfort. Smooth ride, easy to park, well you know. Always a pissing contest.
I like it. If you want the nice interior of the Honda Pilot in a pickup truck, then this is it. It is like the Pilot but with a pickup back instead of a trunk.
I really doesn’t bother me that much that’s unibody and not body on frame, Honda just needs to give it a whole different look a more truckish look and u won’t even tell is a Honda Pilot with a bed

Honda needs to give this truck a unique front end , 300 horses and offer more accessories ! That being said, the Ridgeline is a tad too pricey for what you get.
I have a 19 Ram limited its more truck than I need. I get terrible MPG sometimes wish I got something smaller but I love the interior on my Ram 🐏 I got my ram used for 47k
City Truck! 4wheel Minivan with a bed and a trunk! I own 1! 2007 ❤️ 3 lovely children daily! 200k on it and still going strong! Only problems “I” fixed is the “usual” battery, starter, & alternator, Nothing major! SOHC J series! Best of both worlds, single cams V6! The engine is easy to maintain!Honda has made some of the best SOHC engines in the world!
All these toxic brodozer dudes getting their panties in a twist over a truck. Its pretty funny because in a few years all trucks will be unibody, trucks are already starting to trade out solid axles for independent.
Honda reliability is awesome, don't get me wrong. BUT, it you are hauling a big camper or large trailer or want to put large items in the bed, this is the wrong truck for you! Buy an older Chevy or Ford to haul big items. For an all around truck that has some style and some utility, the Ridgeline is great. Just don't overestimate your towing capacity and the capabilities of AWD. Hauling is hard on the transmission.
Honda doesn't advertise their vehicles as much as the other manufacturers do. When's the last time you saw a Honda commercial? Most people just don't think 'Honda' when they think 'trucks'. That's a conundrum because the Ridgeline is absolutely the best midsize pickup truck on the North American market. Doubt it? Take one for a test drive after you have driven all the others, including Toyota. Take the time to look at the exceptional features the thing has; there are several. Then pull out your check book, 'cause you're buying a Ridgeline .. no doubt about it. I did. And 10k later I know I made the right choice.
Same here Manny Motta. My budget was $29k. I checked out the new Ridgelines first but for the same amount of money I bought a 2016 F150 platinum V8. I'm happy with my choice
I'm planning getting one of these for work (Self Employed Delivery Driver for NGC Logistics, amazon deliveries) and also for taking my musical equipment along to gigs (Yamaha Genos Arranger workstation keyboard + Studio Master walk about PA system, foldable Piano stool and Keyboard stand. What I really need to know is, can the Ridgeline series have a canopy added to the tailgate, as I would need that if I was to use it for the Amazon Deliveries. Thanks in advance for any advice
You want torque, not HP when towing or carrying a heavy load, So I’m not concerned about 0-60 times. If I was I wouldn’t be looking at buying a truck. Thats the only thing that bugs me about vehicle reviews.
this truck reminds me of the neon srt4's joining in on the JDM scene in the early 2000's never really fit "in" because it was american and bubbly, but it did exactly what most of those cars did
As the owner of a 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup, this will be my next truck. We've parked our heavy rv camper so this will take care of the other truck needs in our house. I don't need a penis extension, I need a practical vehicle. 1600lbs cargo, 5000lbs of towing, more than what I need.
I think the windows going down with remote is dumbest idea ever. I have a pilot and I’ve opened them on accident with out knowing it Before. There is no way to turn it off either.
I have an 2019 RTE AWD. It is NOT a truck. First off, it doesn't have a real 4WD system, it has a car-based AWD system. But the WORST thing is, the ground clearance.... I drove over a rock that a Ford Ranger 4x4, RAM 4x4, and F-150 4x4 all drove over with no problems... My Ridgeline ended up with $8,000 worth of damage, all of it the bumper cover and underneath! For the price tag, it doesn't even come with skid plates!!! Plus the towing capacity is only 5,000 lb. It's a soccer-mom's version of a truck!
I think it's ironic that American trucks are made in Mexico and this truck is American made. I have a 2019 RTL-E and got it for 7k below msrp. For me, it was the best truck for me. I'm retired, too old for hardcore 4x4ing but can still get to campsites with some light off roading. The exterior speaker system and underbed storage cooler is super handy since it'll be used in the city and freeway most of the time, the ride is so much superior to other trucks.
Hold on..at 9:11 you said you find a problem with Honda lacking a bit abd dated but yet cool features l...Waait...wuuut??? That doesn't even make sense..I'm confused 🤔🤔🤔
If they make a 4 cyl turbodiesel I would be at the dealer tomorrow. I have been in one and it's very roomy inside. In the mean time I will keep my mini Duramax Colorado... It gets 35pmgs highway and has 600 miles of range with the diesel
I want to like this truck but the styling is odd. They need to honestly change the look of this truck if they want to be competitive in a very competitive market. Honda needs to realize what people are looking for. Call it what you want but most truck buyers want something that rides and looks like a truck regardless whether we need all the capability or not. If they did that I would be in. They need to make it a little more trustworthy. Now I know lots of people love this truck but does Honda want to sell a shit ton or not? I don’t understand their logic. At the end of the day it’s all about making money. Making off-road edition already and people will be lined up. Follow Toyota or anybody else in the market.
Honda is selling all of it though. Most dealers don't even budge the msrp. I get the looks thing but most buyers, believe it or not, are prior body on frame truck owners. They just got tired of the truck ride and poor mpg.
I must say my opinion of this truck has changed over the last while. They aren't really common around here so they aren't front of mind. Also, IMO the first gen was HIDEOUS. I think this 2nd gen looks really good though. If I can talk my wife into getting rid of our big 5th wheel and getting a smaller trailer then I'd seriously consider this to replace my current Duramax 3/4 ton Chevy. One question I have about these - Can you put 2 dirt bikes in the bed with the tailgate up if you rest the back wheels on top of the tailgate?
I like the features of the black edition but not in black..I have a black Tacoma and it's always dirty, shows every scratch and ding..I'd love ot if it came in grey or white..also.mthey need better colors like Army green, orange, Red, cement gray etc...oh..and a lift kit with a more square fron grill
Honestly, I would rather have a cool-looking truck that i dont need than a weak-looking "truck" that I do need. I know this sounds ridiculous but its true. Perception is actually very important.
@@Hammerdak Im just being honest (unlike most other people around here). If people only bought what they needed, the Ridgeline would have much higher sales numbers then it does.

At 10:11 , Honda probably have that feature to save infants
buckled up sleeping when driver goes to the casino!
I wish it had a mild off-road package as it sits a little too low to the ground for me.
They make a lift that the factor will install.
Best truck I have ever owned
You actually can not lock the rear diff on the Ridgeline. Colorado/ canyon and Toyota etc can though.
Pretty accurate description of some of us older folks : )
I have 19E Ridgeline and a 69 Camaro with LS3, 5 speed, 4 link coilovers at the rear, mini tub, coilovers at the front. I drive my Camaro more to Home Depo...and I'm 50.
Sad life man. I'm 61 and use my truck to take my mountain bike and kayak to the better recreation areas
Put a k20c1 engine on it and type R this beast
Were is the 2020? I am hoping for an entertainment system upgrade and a fix to the back door.
Jeremy Wheeler I did my 2019 RTLE back door got the parts at my Honda store 14$ for both checkers and 30 min to put on easy to do
Bought one in September, at 600 miles on the odo and going strong. First long trip scheduled in December. We will see how the highway mileage does.
Post an update if you would!
@@Seth_Stewart Looks like the trip in cancelled due to bad weather between here and my destination. Will be making a few short trips here and trying out the various off road modes while doing some light day hiking.
It's almost half a second faster 0 to 60 than the zr2. 6.7 versus 7.1
Just bought me a new 2021 Honda Ridgeline
Honda needs to give this truck a unique front end , 300 horses and offer more accessories ! That being said, the Ridgeline is a tad too pricey for what you get.
The window trick with the key , my 2004 Honda v6 Accord mugen edition did that.
Love this brand. Wish this was available in Australia. Nice review!
All these toxic brodozer dudes getting their panties in a twist over a truck. Its pretty funny because in a few years all trucks will be unibody, trucks are already starting to trade out solid axles for independent.
Correct
They are also going to be all electric soon after they go unibody as well. But that's a whole new argument they are going to have.
@@1MarkKeller Nope.. 1M lb. towing capacity, but no unibody! ruclips.net/video/bXFHgoon7lg/видео.html
Great job on the review. Just bought one today! Subbed!
When it comes to new trucks today, there is no such thing as a good price. What average person can seriously afford them?
good point
Honda doesn't advertise their vehicles as much as the other manufacturers do. When's the last time you saw a Honda commercial? Most people just don't think 'Honda' when they think 'trucks'. That's a conundrum because the Ridgeline is absolutely the best midsize pickup truck on the North American market. Doubt it? Take one for a test drive after you have driven all the others, including Toyota. Take the time to look at the exceptional features the thing has; there are several. Then pull out your check book, 'cause you're buying a Ridgeline .. no doubt about it. I did. And 10k later I know I made the right choice.
you are correct. best truck by far.
I drove one. They wanted 45k for that U.S. I ended up with the Tacoma TRD off road 4wd for 32k. The Honda rode much nicer. I simply couldn't afford it
Same here Manny Motta. My budget was $29k. I checked out the new Ridgelines first but for the same amount of money I bought a 2016 F150 platinum V8. I'm happy with my choice
you didnt look hard enough. I found an RTL-E for $29k
@@JJbones88 nice job👍
Love that Vtech growl. Such a good motor
The Nissan Frontier is the best truck
Here is a BLACK BLACK EDITION RIDGELINE $40,000 price maybe when it ages a little it can be a future interests
You want torque, not HP when towing or carrying a heavy load, So I’m not concerned about 0-60 times. If I was I wouldn’t be looking at buying a truck. Thats the only thing that bugs me about vehicle reviews.
True. Acceleration is an added bonus, though. This Honda 3.5 L V6 has better torque than my 2015 F150 3.5 L Ti-VCT (naturally aspirated) V6.
“You can lock the rear diff”. That’s flat out wrong dude. Review your spec sheet.
this truck reminds me of the neon srt4's joining in on the JDM scene in the early 2000's
never really fit "in" because it was american and bubbly, but it did exactly what most of those cars did
As the owner of a 3/4 ton 4x4 pickup, this will be my next truck. We've parked our heavy rv camper so this will take care of the other truck needs in our house. I don't need a penis extension, I need a practical vehicle. 1600lbs cargo, 5000lbs of towing, more than what I need.
Awwwwwwe yeahhhh. And the radio only plays smoooooth jams.
I do wish we got this in our market huhuhu
I think the windows going down with remote is dumbest idea ever. I have a pilot and I’ve opened them on accident with out knowing it
Before.
It's a soccer-mom's version of a truck!
you know it only has like 8" of clearance why tf would you drive over something that would cause a problem. user error
Are not all the volume controls and needs on the wheel? I haven't touched the dial on my Ridgelin in years...
Very good review! Thanks
I'm hesitating between 1st gen ridgeline or 1st gen pilot.....
I'm one of those that hate the lockers, the Silverado I driver suck sometimes because of the rear locker
At $25-30k I'd buy it all day.
Michael how can you expect sustainable quality at your price point? Come over it. It cost what it costs.
I rather have this then any UNRELIABLE american trucks with cheap interiors!
The Colorado/Canyon doesnt even come with a push button ignition...you have to use and insert a key lol.
@@squidusn71 I know lol so ghetto
I think it's ironic that American trucks are made in Mexico and this truck is American made. I have a 2019 RTL-E and got it for 7k below msrp. For me, it was the best truck for me. I'm retired, too old for hardcore 4x4ing but can still get to campsites with some light off roading. The exterior speaker system and underbed storage cooler is super handy since it'll be used in the city and freeway most of the time, the ride is so much superior to other trucks.
Realtime Reviews my gmc was made in mexico
Hold on..at 9:11 you said you find a problem with Honda lacking a bit abd dated but yet cool features l...Waait...wuuut??? That doesn't even make sense..I'm confused 🤔🤔🤔
If they make a 4 cyl turbodiesel I would be at the dealer tomorrow. I have been in one and it's very roomy inside.
In the mean time I will keep my mini Duramax Colorado... It gets 35pmgs highway and has 600 miles of range with the diesel
Its a pilot with a bed 😂
6:15
Was that VTEC I heard there?
Did I miss the part where they showed backseat?
Yeah, I think I missed that too.
Sheeeit... they know that 90% of people who drive crew cabs don't need a backseat
Acoustic windshield sucks replaced it three times already do to chips and cracking very easily
Ventilated seats are for Canadian buyers only :-(
coming from a tacoma owner, i don't mind the rear end of the ridgeline....but the front end is hideous. alter that and i'm sold
If it was a bit meaner it would be fine in my book.
They call it “Black Edition” but left that huge chrome trim on the grille 😂😂😂
BLACK IT OUT
why would they do vented seats in canada where its never hot and not in america?
52K? Where do you live? Paid 38K for my 2019 RTL-E last year. The black edition only a bit more at MSRP than the RTL-E.
52k Canadian
What did you pay out the door with taxes and fees and from what state?
Lost me at $54k! And that was 2 years ago. Thats absolutly insane for a fake truck like this.
How quite is the cabin? Can it compare to the Lexus RX350? No one really can really give an accurate answer. Pls help
Take one for ride and find out
I have the 2020 Sport, and wear hearing aids. I usually can’t carry on a decent conversation, with the radio on. I quit listening to radios in vehicles. Now, I play the radio, and still have a real conversation. Love the truck!
$52,000? You can get a 2017 or 2018 Ram 1500 for $32,000 or less. Hemi or a v6. Ridgeline may be practical for some but don't call it a truck. A truck can tow and get chicks. Ridgeline is just Crv with a bed.
So far except Sport basic radio it is an amazing truck. Yes it's a truck ! LOl.
if you need a truck to match your purse, get a Ridgeline
Stupid statement!
Song sauce at 8:22
Does the sound system sound good?
I have a 2018 Ridgeline RTL and I’m no expert in sound quality, but I think it sounds great.
Dealers should be thanking Honda for not actually building a full sized version of this truck.
I rarely see these
If it looked as good as the Tacoma then they could.t make enough of em. Take my money.
First 😅😂 i think the ridgeline has it's place in the truck market
I “Second” that comment.
