- The Cure opened with Plainsong on Saturday, July 7th in Hyde Park, London at 20:00 BDT. They were the last act of the day, which was filled-in with performances from other bands that The Cure invited to play, in celebration of their 40th Anniversary. Robert is glowing strong and ready to take The Cure into 2020.
I was standing with a gorgeous, light, teal-eyed, brunette German woman who left her family for the weekend to fly (even though she's afraid of flying) to see The Cure. She has worked with mentally ill people for 25 years and has three teenagers, so needed an escape. When her kids called to ask where she was, she let them know she was fine and in London. The other people I stood close to were an Israeli couple who came to town just for The Cure. The husband was a handsome, twinkling eyed man who deeply cared for his pretty, sweet wife, who sat out most of the show until The Cure came on. The other people around me were slightly rude, so don't deserve stories ;-), but generally, people at Cure shows are kindred spirits.
This is #10 for me. I can only fully enjoy the show if I'm standing in front of Robert Smith. It's amazing how so many people can love him, but he has the kind of presence that connects deeply with his audiences. The show is over, but I'm still dancing in bliss in my hotel near Hyde Park as I go through the pictures and videos from the show.
I never met Robert but he is like family to me. The Cure was the most influential band of my teens. So much joy and pain I shared with their music. The first time I fell in love, the first time I lost a love. Riding high on the waves and finding myself at the very bottom. The Cure was the soundtrack for it all. I sang their songs to myself to get through hard times.
Same story, man. From Russia with love!
Great band ! Great music with great lyrics. Timeless is the CURE now.
There is a timeless quality to his voice and the music. Unbelievable!
I've struggled with heroin addiction for 15 years and bands like The Cure and Joy Division have helped me in the darkest of times.
Plainsong is one of my favorites.
I've considered suicide before and the powerful music of The Cure and Joy Division saved my life honestly.
Thanks for posting this.
Today was a tough day.
My girlfriend and I have been fighting and I needed something anything to help ease the pain and I found this amazing video.
And to you who recorded this thank you so very much I don't think you could ever realize what it has done for me today.
Like you.my Friend... After dark we have seen The Light. Good life
Oh.....
Yo John. How you doin'?
Super Extraordinary incredibly talented 4 decade MAN! FANTASTIC SONG! Robert seems like such an Great guy.. IT'S A PRIVILEGE TO HEAR HIS MUSIC..I HOPE I GET TO SEE THEM..... ROBERT, YOU EMBODY A WARMTH, PEACE, AND TRANQUILITY THAT NO OTHER ARTIST WILL EVER BE ABLE TO TOUCH.
One of my favourite Cure songs. I'm grateful to Robert for writing such a gorgeous transcendent song. It means the world to me.
I was there. The sun setting on a glorious summer day to the sound of 40 years of pop genius. What a night
FJM76 me too. It was amazing.
I was there on that beautiful, blistering hot day with the love of my life. Perfect day. Amazing gig
Was at the gig fantastic concert.Could not get near the front so had to watch it on one of the screens was still awesome. Also big thumbs up to all the fans not one bit of trouble and well organized..Greatest band of all time...
40 years of musical genius!
10 years of musical quality......very little after disintegration
I fully disagree. Some of their best songs came after Disintegration. Trust, Treasure, Bare, Edge of the Deep Green Sea, To Wish Impossible Things, To the Sky, Out of This World, Wrong Number, Ocean, Bloodflowers, The Loudest Sound...Maybe you should have a listen to the songs post-Disintegration. It's possible some of the greatest songs are yet to come.
@@TanyasEtherealFootsteps total agree
Robert is always magic. Love him
Exelente grupo tengo 16 años y crecí escuchando The Cure tengo la esperanza de algún día por ser conocerlo en persona o que lleguen a Guadalajara..
A genius and lovely in all the interviews I’ve watched, The Cure was a great influence on me..
Love the slow motion of him smiling, beautiful.
This is the first time I have watched a live video of The Cure playing and I can say that I was actually there. So fricking grateful for you Robert.

The Cure es la banda que logra la plenitud en mí.
How I wish I got to see this live

I’m so madly in love with this band
I have LOVED The Cure for over 20 years Tanya, thank you for this! I saw The Cure here in Denver, Colorado 3 years ago. Robert Smith is so cool!
And, you are so beautiful! Love your eyes and smile!
He can just stand there and people go crazy.
Like Butters from South Park when he visits Mexico 🍹🌵
6 generations have been growing up with this absolutely great band....
... you make me feel like I'm living at the edge of the world, it's just the way you smile...
That was a nice story. Well worth reading. Thanks
Thank you for posting this. It made me cry, in a good way. I just love them. Much to my regret this is the closest I’ll ever come to seeing them perform. This is extra special to me. Thank you again.❤️
You had an amazing view there Tanya, thx for sharing it .
Robert's smile is truly overwhelming...such a beautiful man both inside and out. I love The Cure! This was my first Cureshow and it was a wonderful experience and Plainsong is my favorite opener.
Was there last night, this followed by Pictures of You was one of the most beautiful ways to open a gig I've ever seen
Best band, best concert intro song, and Robert is a pure class act. Genius.
Thank you!!! Love cure...love this video
im jealous! saw them 20 yrs ago. they are Awsome!!
many thanks Tanya for this moment , i watch and watch this video 2 times a week
Always a great delight to see them playing on stage. Even though time runs out.
(Tanya, I love your beauty)
Thank you for capturing the moment Robert noticed me in the crowd. It was when you zoomed in on his smile
At five minutes, toward the end? I'm happy I caught that moment for you!
Great!! This is our youth grown beautifully!!! This is the foundation of our big tree!!!!!
Video is so crisp.. thank you for, sharing the video and your experience. I hope to get to see them live one day... been a fan since 1985 and have yet to see them.
I'm bawling! I love him so much I cannot breathe!
Thank you for this!! I haven't gotten to see them live for 2 years, so this is a good fix. ☺️♥️👏👏
What an Alive Legend! The Cure.
Thank you :)
The soundtrack of my life since 1985. My first show was on the Kiss Me Tour. Thanks for sharing this epic concert.
Great show of best pop rock band of the world!!!!
You were lucky to bne there for this show because it was a historic moment. You're also lucky there wasn't a mad crush at the front. Here in the statews whenever there is general admission on the floor people start crushing to get close even before the show starts. Luckily They will be playing this show in Glorious HD with 5.1 surround sound at our local theater on July 11th. I already have tickets for me and my wife. It's the next best thing to seeing them live and since they are ignoring the USA again this summer it will have to do. I think Robert will reward the USA when it's time.
They've made a lot of commitments to play at festivals in Europe all summer long. They'll be in Texas and then Pasadena in late summer. I've heard they might add more shows. They'll most likely tour the new album next year and do a world wide tour.
I am really jealous many fans could see amazing show!come back to Japan
again please ...
Thanks for sharing.
I love how he curses the sun at 1:19!
;-)
Thanks Tanya. Love plainsong. Yes, totally awesome. :))
I was there, but I always love your videos! Thank you!
Im a Brazilian fan, This music is pure emotions
Simon with hair again!! Cool !
Cure is LIfe, life is CURE..,
he doesn't play, a lot of emotions of Robert and for us too !!!, it doesn't matter
I hated....the Cure until 1991. A friend introduced me to Disentigration and my life has never been the same! I have so much history with this cd and the band. No band in the world makes me feel this way. Roberts voice delivers soothing, healing notes and the guitar and bass tones compliment each other and his voice. This music is so Sacred to me now that, I only listen to the cure when I am alone in the Mountains in November and on Dec 15th. (Walking through walls in the heart of December) from Last dance on disentigration. This music makes my heart really heavy because I woman I really loved was with me when I was exploring the cure in the mid 1990's. We went thru it together, well, shes no longer with me, moved on as well as I. But, those feelings are still right there when I listen some 24 years later.
Magic moment 40th years
Maravilhosa captura um beijo anjo por nos disponibilizar este momento ... lindaaaa!!!!!
A true Legend
Amazing band......👏🙌
...sometimes u make me feel like im living at the edge of the world ...🎶
I'm so envious!!! Nothing better than a Cure show... last saw them in Hawaii in 2016 (both shows!) I saw them like 6x in 2016 and I could got to every show... Saw Las Vegas, 2 Hollywood Bowl shows, Shoreline, and both Hawaii shows... great memories! Although next person that talks in my ear during a concert is going to get their ass kicked, almost had to kick someone's ass at the 2nd Hawaii show, but they thought better of it... and I vibed them out of the show, no kidding, they left and didn't come back! I hate stupid drunk people...
lovely, thanks for posting this
GENIO ABSOLUTO !!!
England 2 Sweden 0..
Then straight into Hyde park to see the cure. All in all, a most excellent day !
It was a great day, very great day :)
us too, such a brill day
Ditto! Very special and emotional day for me -first saw them in 1980 with my recently deceased younger brother -this time around I was accompanied by my 2 sons
There is hope yet!
Beautiful day

Disintegration is my fave Cure album -
Justin Time same
Mine too 🖤
Ugh me too man, that album got me through some tough times
I like the video you made... I just saw myself behind you 🤣🙌🏼
Je devais ne pas être très loin de la personne qui a filmé, un peu plus derrière, quelle belle journée.
Moscow is waiting for you again, guys! We will be glad to see and hear you!
sigo y seguiré adorando la música de the cure seguramente ya no como al principio pero la seguiré adorando. el .mito del rock
Thank you!
The Cure were phenomenal. The screaming on this video is doing my head in though :( spoils it
Sorry about the screaming, Matt!
It’s not as bad as someone clapping out of beat at the wrong tempo ... ok I’ve watched it right thru I see where ur coming from .. sounds like a few people were murdered .. it’s not screams of joy
Disintegration is the best musical album for all times and nations, its true.
was there too. amazing !
It was never about the RV. It was about the pain.
I was behind you! ahah! I was in your video too (0:37) dressed in black with the "boys don't cry shirt"! :D Great concert!
THE CURE 1970/2019 el mejor rock punk mistico
vampires into the daylight before darkness for final Amazing moment .
The cure were at spartan san jose. Wish tour. I actually jumped the fence for free. Crazy me. Author. Haunts of san jose
Let's celebrate the 30 years of the ALBUM next year in the Olympic Stadium in the Moscow!
I was with you while we're waiting for primary entrance in west entrance. The mexican guy 😉
I really loved the concert. My 8th The Cure, but one of the Best.
Kind regards
Hisss jokessss phantasticoooo
Whoa.. when did you have to arrive at the stage to be standing in the first row??
If I ever make it one of their concerts, I want to be standing as close to the stage as possible
For this show I actually doddled in my hotel room longer than I usually would before getting in line. I got to my allotted gate (there were many gates) at 9:30 AM BT. There were three people in front of me, one couple who got to stand right at the bar for having been there since 6 AM. I stood behind them, which was still an extraordinary view, but to be at the bar you have to be there by 5 AM. You never know, though. I got really lucky to get where I did by showing up as late as I did. There are other entrances, too, so it depends which entrance gets let in first and how fast people can run. Ha ha. The security guards will shout or run after you if you run.
Very nice, Tanya!
2 weird things about Plainsong live, in recent years:
1. Robert holds the 6 string bass through the whole song, but doesn’t play it.
2. Reeves plays his own 6 string bass, but barely plays it (just the root notes). Around the early 2000’s, Perry used to play a 6 string bass part in-harmony w/ Simon’s part.
These are not bad things, or criticism/complaints. Just something I’ve noticed that sparks my curiosity.
Wow, good eye, Rocky! I wonder why they'd hold their instruments and not play? :-)
same here...
Not claiming to be 100% on this but I don't think it's a bass Robert's holding. For this album and a few he plays a baritone guitar. Which is why many guitar parts on Disintegration, Kiss Me, etc. are rather deep sounding.
I personally think it is because whenever they open with plainsong, they follow with pictures of you, so Robert is ready to play straight away , after the " hello "
Was going to say exactly the same thing :)
I had no problem understanding anyone there in 2012 except a dude at waterloo. He asked. Weh ya bone. I asked. Are you asking where im from. Weh ya bone. Are you calling me a bum. I stood up and said i speak english. They had a funny look on their faces.
Vote for The Cure once a day everyday until December 7th to get them inducted into 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
www.rockhall.com/fanvote/
I’ve voted for them everyday! They so deserve to be there.
@@ellenchapman2896 Thanks for reminding me to vote today! I've been voting everyday, too.
Tanya ❤️ aparte de lo muy hermosa que eres, que bacan que seas fan de este super grupo. Como quisiera una novia asi. Pictures of You. Saludos!!! desde Perú
@@JorgeRodriguez-nw8ik
I love how Trent Reznor inducted them 😊🌸
Being a huge NIN fan as well... it was perfect that he was the one to do it for the cure
Pity the audio quality is terrible! This is one of my favorite songs!
I'm hoping the clear, beautiful picture makes up for the sound. This version has better sound:

Reeves Gabriel. His talents are so under used.
I think he's glad to be part of something that offers world tours every few years. And he gets to express his talents in Reeves Gabrels and His Imaginary Friends.
Legends
nice seats!
The Cure is the most loving british band in Russia...after DM.
хотелось бы так и мне считать, но вот посмотрел краем глаза , сколько собрали на стадион этим летом гоперские Рамштэйн - вывод делается иной
Simon. Waving.
The cure sempre. Banda MA-RA-VI-LHO-SA
Merciiiiiiii
Simplemente THE CURE!!!! Javi Soriano
You can hear me screaming. Thank you for capturing the moment robert looked at me and my friends. It was when he did the weird smile thing
God bless Elizabeth Taylor - the current lead singer of the Cure....
what name song is playing?
Plainsong
Your lisp is adorable 😊
I think it was a nervous lisp. I was trying to speak quietly, not to draw attention.
Wait, they were in Hyde park this year?! Such a shame I only found out now.
They're playing again this summer. Maybe you'll get a chance to see them then?
Hey, I saw you on Saturday! :) You were on the huge screen for a while :)
Как жаль, что в Питер к нам они не приезжают!!!!
Надеюсь, когда-нибудь они будут!
never unstand why ppl are screaming at concert....
One reason is because they're excited to see their favorite band play. Another reason is to let the band know they love them, like to show support, but it can be disturbing to other people in the audience, so the screaming should only be done inbetween songs or at the beginning and end.
People get overwhelmed
What about "The Reunion Tour" (like "Kiss") with Laurence and Boris?
Mr.Robert...y las gafas de Sol?☀️💥💫⭐️🌟🍏🍎🧚♀️
