I found this evening after reading the news on the RTE. How Joanne Hayes didn’t get on the first plane out of Ireland after this I know not. One of my first earliest memories of this news in Ireland growing up. The hypocrisy in Ireland knew no bounds. For every pregnancy there was a man. I could go on but ... *sigh .... this Ireland makes me sad. Very sad and very ashamed.

😮 crime of the century. The backward ignorance of the irish people sadly lives on even today 😢 in some parts of our country

I've heard stories and rumours about infanticide in Ireland ... in my area of rural Ireland ... that happened years ago.

I have unfortunately..a lady that has since passed years ago, was found guilty of dropping a newborn down a well and served time in the 50s...such was the stigma. I did ask my mother was it common and she said that growing up youd hear of it, and corners of fields were often chosen as burial sites by mothers trying to hide their dead babies

very glad to have found this. I was at the Cahersiveen baby's funeral. It had a lasting effect. I would imagine that the baby's murder and the bringing of proper justice, is the real victim? Nobody seems to understand that there is a murderer/s still walking free today....

There are also Brutal vicious criminals who wore Garda uniforms and received promotions and (tax-payer funded) generous Garda pensions, who still deny their Evil actions and intent.
We also should remember that these EVIL Gardai were the same ones who beat False Confessions out of those they falsely accused of committing the Sallins Mail train robbery.
Yet because they were UNIFORMED Criminals, they suffered No Consequences.
And be under No Illusions, because they got away with it then, Uniformed Thugs, who call themselves "Gardai" are just as Violently abusive today as they were then...

How does this guy get wheeled out every fucking time there's something historical to be considered in Ireland? Are there no other historians in the country? Does he own the subject?

While I feel sorry for Joanne Hayes and the awful witch hunt she endured at the time, I also feel that it should be said that she was by no means an innocent flower. She was sleeping with a married man, remember and this was her THIRD pregnancy by him. Not the first, the THIRD. Anyone can understand a girl getting caught out once, but THREE times?? Come on now!! (the 2nd pregnancy was a miscarriage supposedly). There are always consequences for wrongdoings in this life - in Joanne's case she paid more than anyone could have ever expected, but FGS,, STAY AWAY FROM MARRIED MEN - IT IS WRONG. I feel more sorry for 2 innocent little souls who didn't ask to be brought into this world - 1 savagely murdered, and as for Joanne's baby, he may have been saved if she had access to proper medical care, but she couldn't go to a hospital in time. I'm not by any means saying that's right, but it is a consequence of (supposedly) adults decisions. I also feel sorry for Jerimiah Locke's wife and family who had their lives torn apart over this case, all because he couldn't keep it in his trousers. They did nothing wrong, but have had to pay the consequences in shame, blame, gossip, notierity and no doubt the press hounding them for years. A tragic case all in all. I sincerely hope that baby John's murderer will one day be brought to justice. RIP little angels.

Why are you placing blame on just Joanne and not the father? He was the one cheating on his wife and yet you blame the mistress? Typical

@@andieeakin I wasn't actually. I said it was BOTH their faults he was a married man and she was a grown woman. I think she thought that if she kept having babies by him that he would eventually have to leave his wife 🙄🙄
