That marble mobo looks so nice in the white case, pretty powerful build.

Awesome review Wendell! This is my next mobo for my Zen4 upgrade since Asrock made it for AMD as well. Suprised u didn't get it right after your Steel Legend review. It was on sale on Newegg for like a month for $509.99 (X670E) and so far it is one of the highest rated AM5 mobos. So much future proofing built in with features etc. I do editing, streaming and gaming so its worth money for me. Might pair with the 7900X/X3D & RDNA3 which will be announced TODAY @4PM ET
I just built an Asrock Taichi Z790 myself (non Carrara). So far I’m liking it.
really enjoyed the commentary. good build. I'm using a 13700k and a 3090ti with an msi mpg 1000w pcie5 psu as well as an asus Z790 hero and 64gb trident z 6000 ram
you can move the cable all you want as long as it stays fully seated ~ the cause of the melting/burning is from all having a partial connection to the positive plugs ...(and yes I reported that hypothesis long before that news ever came out as I had a space heater that did the same thing)

Great video. I’m adopting the Z790 platform because of the additional PCIe 4.0 lanes for M.2… I’m hoping that RAID 1 will perform well (Samsung 980 Pro’s) on the Z790. Upgrading from a ivy bridge 3770 system, rocking a Dell perc 5 controller.. should be quite an uplift.. I’m just super paranoid about software-ish raid being the best route now… I’ve used hardware on my home pc’s since the 90’s..
Get Corsair 8TB MP 600 PRO XT SSD, it is only 1189 dollars right now. I don't trust software RAID.
There are so many m.2 slots on motherboards these days yet so few lanes through pcie slots, it’s usually x16 or x8/x8 and a single x4 slot. Why are there no additional x4 slots. And why is an x8 slot so rare, (ws x570-ace).
Can you do a pcie school? Splitting lanes and not merging them? How does the pcie lanes exit the cpu? How does the chipset divide up connectivity? Why we can’t make more slower lanes from fewer faster lanes? Does using the GPU through chipset lanes hurt performance(lane count, speed normalized)
Great review, I love the white marbled look. Just wish USB/M.2 weren't the big new trend, as having a lot of PCIe slots is the only reason I would ever buy ATX/eATX boards. Having 3 is kinda lame, and risks competing with tiny, cheap mATX boards when it really shouldn't have to.
Those are Wera items for the bottle open and screw driver, very very good build quality items.
Odd that the AMD X570E version doesn't have AsRock's eDP port since well on AMD support side only a random mATX motherboard supports their side panel monitor kit. For note a bunch of Intel motherboards support that eDP port.
Missed opportunity to call it Blazing one generation earlier. I mean PCIe4 20Gb per lane would have been perfect for that, right?
I got this motherboard and the h170i Elite Capellix heatsink. I was wondering if you connected your heatsink to CPU_FAN1 or CPU_FAN2/WP_3A?

I had Zotac Extreme 4090 unfortunately it was faulty 4090 .I have also Crosair 7000x case and it's touch the cable my side window.this 4090 just crazy big (I swaped for gigabyte gaming OC )

WHAT A BEAUTY!!!! I absolutely LOVE that marble!!! I wonder how hard it would be to WRAP the case (the way cars get wrapped) in that same Carrara marble style... probably about $200 I'm guessing.... but you could probably get your GPU wrapped along with i6t, which would just be the cherry on top (as long as you look into whether or not it would affect cooling... I doubt it tho if it's just on the back plate)
ALSO, did I see RGB on the EDGE of the MoBo??? THAT IS AWESOME!!! Why didn't you mention that??? That's pretty much the ONLY PLACE I would want RGB on a motherboard because we usually only see it above the rear IO block and it's ALWAYS got the manufacturer's logo on it... That RUINS the aesthetic for people making custom high-end builds, and they jsut avoid those types of boards altogether.... So THIS type of RGB is Subtle AND Useful (when it comes to incorporating the RGB into the rest of the build theme) PLUS it lights up the area UNDER the GPU... which you cannot do with led strips in cases that have the bottom PSU cover (which almost every standard case case these days) unless you create a way to keep the leds from burning your eyeballs LOL

I'm torn between this ASRock or the Asus Z790 Apex for my white Lian Li O11 XL dynamic case.

I would like a white PCB and white VRM with this look and would pay for the looks then but until then i would not want this over another board

without a graphics card and using i7-14700K (Or current i7-13700K) with standard Noctua NH-U12A cooler be suitable with the Taichi and Taichi Lite? How many actual NVMe Gen 3 M.2 on this board.
I'm literally building a 11900k in a be quiet 802 case with a 420mm Arctic freezer to cooler right now.
My GPU however is the Intel ARC A770
Why have pcie slots gone away ?
The marble on the box looks black and white but the board looks like it has a blueish/purple hue, is this just an artifact in video or is it an ugly blueish hue?

No. Unless that case supports extended ATX it won't fit.
Nvidia was so innovative and artistic with the SLI bridge, look at that 12v hot ass fire psu plug connector...
Do you have a Kill-a-watt meter? I have a 10900k @5ghz 1.3v and Asus Maximus XII Formula, 32gb 3200mhz, RTX 4090 and EVGA 1000w PSU. While running Timespy my total system usage was 600-650w. Now I'm worried when I swap in my new 13900k setup i'd be using well over 600+w underload in testing. I'll run some tests. I'll most likely just upgrade the PSU cos Id prefer not to run it at is rated efficiency consistently.

i have cheap pentium/celeron for bios updates if new cpu does not work and MB does not have bios flashback but it still cost some money but if you building computers a lot so bios flas is gonna be expensive too if you bring it to the store and let them the job done and if you need spare computer you still have CPU

One sad thing about my kickass 7950X system is that I can’t justify buying a 13900K to play with to my husband.
One thing I’d be interested in seeing is a memory comparison between 12th gen DDR5 and 13th gen DDR5. My 12900K was a bad time pushing memory overclocks, it outright couldn’t do four sticks faster than JEDEC4800. My 7950X on the other hand doesn’t even hesitate to overclock four DIMMs. It would be interesting to see if 13th gen has fixed that.
obviously thunderbolt is kinda that one thing from apple that mankind should not be worried, but my morning jokes worries someone i suspect, lol

How do u keep the Temps low with this board. My 13900k hits 35c idle in bios and 113c in cinebench. I'm using h150i elite capelex in lian li 011xl

If a manufacturer could take a 40gb thunderbolt port and turn it into 4 10gb ports, that could turn cool for a forbidden router. With ddr5

It is important to note, that you don't need Z790 to get improved memory speeds. Z690 with Raptor Lake will also see the benefits as its more tied to the IMC of the CPU than the chipset.

Incorrect. Z790 boards generally OCing DRR5 and CPU better due to increased PCB layer count.
I kind of hate to see a lack of 10G on boards like this, at the same time if your actually enthusiastic about your networking you're probably already using a separate card whether it be rj45, SFP+ or your already well beyond 10G

In a dual GPU config you will lose the PCI 5.0 M.2 capability ... OK I can handle that! Samsung 990 is fast enough. can't wait to see benchmarks on Blender rendering with dual 4090's ....!!!!!
