- The State Legislature thought they were helping small contractors when they decided they no longer needed a license to operate, but counties in South Florida are saying if you don’t have a license, you can’t pull a permit. That’s why one fencing contractor called Help Me Howard with Patrick Fraser.
Go around it and just have the permit pulled under the homeowner .!!
They wont be able to sell or lease their home for a year. According to Florida Statue 489
Unfortunatley the homeowner has to go to the county permit office to get notarized the permit application. But if the HO is disabled or doesnt use a computer you are screwed. This is inconveinent for both
DBPR doesnt require a fence license, Palm Beach cty does. But there is no fencing licensing school or other information that I can find to get licensed in Florida. California requires 4years experience and a 3hour test. If I wanted to get a general contractors lic. that would be different, but this is not.
If they STATE said you don't need a license, the local government can't ask for one. Local government can't step on top of the state. Miami Dade county/ Broward area the one that needs to remove the required from their permit application, that simple.
Who benefits from this confusing problem ? Permit and license fees will be lost in local government if they are not required. Correct ?
The law is clear. Miami Dade County can not force the company to have a license. Is that clear! So what’s need to be done is go ahead and suit Miami Dade Stealers
How can we find this law and the list of trades?
The county put me a fee of $500 dollar in a hearing because this whole issue
Funny in the correlation of ethnic and ecological valuable states and the implementation of licensing. In the majority elsewhere there’s no licensing laws and using Ohio as reference, you can hold skills of 5 trades before you need a license or Maine where you don’t need one at all. All these states without licensing have higher rates of homeowners and lower costs than Florida, maybe start there 🤡🤡
Was there a fix to this situation yet?
It happen to me the same I installed lanai screen
What is the state law called?
Small contractors also need to have qualifying employee insurance!
So wait if I do drywall do I need a license ?
You need a license in order to be a drywall installer, you don’t need a license for compound, texture or paint
It’s my understanding that you do (gypsum board license) if it’s 2 or more than 100 square foot of drywall, roughly 3 panels…
