I think this is my favorite song by the sound. I know there are other masterpieces, but this song always will ring in my head for months after I listen to it. I bought this album in 1982, I thought it was fantastic then.
Great song, absolutely. But I also find myself watching this video over and over again for the little dance "Max" does for a few seconds at the beginning. It's so damn precious.
Funny how expressing sadness can make you somehow happy, mostly true musicians can understand this but I know there are great people out there that relate. Cheers to you all!
Vader 22 Actually post-punk and punk were contemporary movements, let’s say that they were the same idea with a different perspective, so post punk isn’t that “post”. Anyway. the sound was the best post punk band of all time.

I had no idea he tried to murder his parents. I only saw the documentary a couple of days ago. I don't know how to feel about this because I really love their music. RIP 😔
@@gabrielceballos8789 yes. It was only one time according to to doc. It was specifically against his dad. But he warned his parents that day he should stay away from them and even tried to convince the police to spend the night in jail for his own dad's safety but they didn't let him. It's pretty sad he was suffering from a mental condition. The documentary is available to rent on vimeo. Well worth watching.
@@nsny25 that's horrible..... Yeah I know he had schizoaffective disorder, he was in a bad state of mind a few days before he committed suicide, I assume that's when he tried to murder his father?
@@gabrielceballos8789 no, no. That episode was around the mid 80s. That's when his parents took him to a psychiatric hospital the very next day and once they got there he shattered a window with his hand, grabbed a broken piece of glass and tried to stab himself with it in front of his parents but it didn't work. One of the nurses told his father that he would eventually lose his son because he would try to kill himself again. When he finally succeeded in 1997 it was in very different circumstances. He was recording a comeback album and it was going very well for the most part but when it came to the vocals he felt the medication he was taking would negatively affect his performance. Against the producers own recommendation he stopped taking the medication and days later is when he committed suicide by throwing himself at an express train in Wimbledon. I believe he was meant to be at the studio that very same day. A friend of his recalls talking to Adrian on the phone the night before and remembers him sounding very calm, as if to suggest he was finally at peace with himself and with his fatal decision, despite not having warned anyone. It's a pretty tragic story and I feel really bad for him. Seemed like one of the greatest genuine talents in music who described himself honestly through his lyrics. RIP 🙏

Can't explain how much I love this man.. I hope someone told him how important he was to many people. RIP Adrian, your music will live forever
Met him at a gig in London in the 80’s, a gentleman. A genius. Taken before his time, unfortunately by his own hand. Forever missed! 🙂👍
I had the chance to open for his show in Ghent Belgium.
No one makes music like this these days! Simply brilliant! RIP Adrian

I invite you to the party of my mind
An invitation to the party of my mind
Some talk, some laugh
Some go out for air
In the party of my mind
They'll all be there
All my friends will be there
In the party of my mind
There's a room for us
In the party of my mind
A place to be, a place to be found
A room without light
A room whith lights that blind
These ideas I invite
To the party of my mind
Won't you come in and invite love
Won't you come in, invite your anarchist friend
Won't you come in, anything can happen
Won't you come in, stay till the end
There's a disturbance over by the stairs
And her face looks round for me
Her eyes say something's going wrong
Some things aren't how they should be
I invite you to the party of my mind
An invitation to the party of my mind
Some talk, some cry
Some go out for air
In the party of my mind
We'll all be there
Everyone will be there
Everyone will be there

This song is so sad! 😥
It really shows you Adrian's state of mind.
Can we talk about Adrians guitar playing please......he's right epic..
@chatbandler Those chords, that change when he goes to the bridge. Doesn't get any better than that.
met him and a great player ( concert in Ghent ) we opened for him..in his show as support act. Great guitar man he was!
Nice to see the band in action with a track off their third and final album for 'Warner Bros.' Thanks for posting and sharing the video with us all.
Excellent audio, thanks for the upload!

An awesome group that never got their due.
Probably from Holland where The Sound were revered. 😎 !
They were liked in Greece too. I heard they come on the radio sometimes still.
Beloved so much in Italy too!
They are revered in Europe but completely ignored in the States. What a shame that U2 stole that popularity from them!
Another great song.
