Just by installing the RuneLite bot detector plugin, you help bust bots! Plus, the data can be used to find mules! I hear they've also been experimenting with some deep learning that is already proving to greatly increase the plugin's accuracy at determining if an account is a bot vs. player.

I've been running the bot detector plugin for over a month now and it's crazy to see the automatic detection it picks up and then getting to know my reports actually help when I manually report bots. 89 possible bans, 9 confirmed bans with 100% flag accuracy but my total is 9500 total uploads, 934 possible bans and 211 confirmed. nutty.
Lol I can see other people using that plugin on an alt account to test if their accounts look like bots or not 🤣

The only bad thing about this is without killing the ringleaders with the gold, it's not going to make a difference when only 5% of their bots get actually banned. They still get the majority of their gold

It really makes me wonder what the value of some of these highly botted items like the dragon bones/black chins etc would be if bots were completely wiped out 100%
Turn back the clocks 15 years when the eco was thriving . Dragon bones were 3k each but it was also not as fast/easy to get a ton of coins or buy bulk anything other than feathers or food.(if you found the right people)
@@an-insane-llama I actually remember dragon bones would stay rock solid at exactly 2.7k, find memories of getting 55 pray back then. I still have notes in my RS account on marking the price of dragon bones as of certain dates
@@swirle13 that's nuts, I never kept exact track of prices. I was definitely a noob during those times and "ironmanned" everything (plus scammed myself nonstop with prices lmao.) But looking back it was more enjoyable then than it is now for sure. I didn't know that people went to certain worlds in certain areas to buy/sell so I would run around the game asking random people questions lol

Pking in Wildy is still a part of the game. I only train slayer with Wildy slayer usually and the Wildy is pretty active during peak hours on some worlds
The wildy's too crowded what are you on about? My friends' gims were trying to get ma2 done and we ended up needing to all show up and cover the poor sods because max squads were camping the spawn points and it took like us like 3 hours just to find a quiet spot. Then we ended up needing to still get like 8kc done because people were camping the mage arena bank, ended up needing to cheese him to the lever by bonding an alt to rag him with bronze bolts so he wouldn't get killed.

Osrs is a dirty game. People use bots basically as drug dealers to push weight and move that dope knowing they might get busted and out the game. But just like real life, no matter how many thugs you take off the streets, they don’t die they multiply. The game goes on

There's a lot of bots operating out of the ferox enclave, but they are not LMS bots. They use the altar, bank, teleport out and repeat this cycle - on most worlds. Not sure what they're doing.

An Honorary OSRS and RS3 player by default. Neither game is trash. RS3 just has a lot more complicated mechanics towards endgame. As does OSRS just imo easier to learn.

Bots and gold farmers are the economy. The community doesn’t want to do certain tasks but don’t want outrageous prices. In a way they’re just illegal aliens trying to make it in a cyber capitalist system
I don’t bot or farm gold I’m a player but I understand why the black market is this way. Nobody wants to farm gold without the chance of a huge payday so people basically just do end game content and it leaves the rest of the game riddled with bots to get their supplies because the money is there. Why would you make a consistent 3m/h when you can do raids and possibly get a t bow split and if not you still make good money. The bots exist because they are filling a gap that not enough people are. Do I think it’s beneficial to the game? No absolutely not but it’s a product of our own creations
It's always a good day to see bots banned and gp removed from the game.
There is an island (where you spend 10k to go on) south of Kourend to fight sand crabs... There you will find many many accounts that I suspect are used to train into accounts to sell. The stats on every character there is suspicious, and there are 5 or more accounts there each day.
Most aren't bots sadly so all jagex can do is hopeful catch them changing hands after sales it's usually real people leveling and selling ACC's at crabs

Pugger can you investigate these Agility Pyramid Bots? Usually 19/20 combat always have Iron Scimitars. Curious to see what they're actually doing because they could be muling bills. I've seen a few which multibox and teleport out. Reported of course but keep seeing more..
Lumby church is a popular area to trade gold over to buyers. Tip for when right clicking piles of players. Select an item in your inventory fire and use the "Use" option, then right click the piles of players
It's alarming that Jagex can retroactively provide a log of how much they've been getting traded per night, yet they can't set up an anti cheat that flags these accounts for easy bans.

this is why bosses got loads of supply drops added to their loot table. they wanted to remove bots from the equasion and make the game function without them. not an easy prospect but technically it should work.
But now the bots grind the bosses instead :(
If there are no bots, who will fish and cook for PvMers, who grinds Zulrah for scales thus for PvMers, who will mine ores for PvMers etc.
RS3 has bot situation under control but that made basic resources like feathers super expensive because people likes to PvM more than gather them.
If bots went away the value of raw resources would skyrocket and it would actually be worth collecting them and make it possible to make money without high-risk activity's.
@@TheMegatuz you're undermining your entire argument. Yes, this is the point of getting rid of bots. It will actually be worth doing skilling due to the value of the resources generated. If you think that it's that difficult to maintain a good supply of each resource, I advise you to play an ironman for a short while. Bulk resources are easy to obtain nowadays but require some time investment so it is worth doing for low lvl players who are aspiring to do high end content later. Those at the top still get their resources but they will pay more for them because they have the currency to spare.
That's called a functioning economy.
At this point i believe 90% of the player base are actual bots. Only the 10% remaining is ppl that actually play the game

I was literally on top of one of the walls while doing a Fally diary task and thought “man, this would be a great place for mules and bots to do their business”
by the spirit tree in grand exchange ive been noticing a few accs that seem like mules hanging out, all low level and random names. one person talked to me but i think they were buying gold because the other accs were trading to each other and logging.
The bot detector is insanely flawed though, on a test account I tested auto clicker magic training and it showed a 50/50 for unknown and magic bot which makes sense but on my main where I might spend hours doing 1 stat at a time between melee, woodcutting, and slayer recently it shows a 100% real player acc as 91% unknown bot. I am guessing their detection is convinced of bot activity as long as the account is willing to mindlessly grind 1 thing for 4+ hours

Yes! I started botting because I realized you rarely get banned lols. Been botting for 6 months 5 hours a day, sometimes more and not even a warning.

Most are made from existing words. The one Kloaksovs translates to "Sewer Sauce" from danish. Others seem finnish and some are english. Very original for bot names so im guessing they either got good at this or theyre hacked accounts

You should check out fossil island wyverns, theres tons of pvm bots with all 99 combat stats except range dressed in granite body d legs d helm with a whip just farming fossil island wyverns, they are on nearly every world ive checked.
check out world 330 there's a full dragon armor and obi helm at kurasks in fremi salyer cave names are BHUTTA A, and BHUTTA (with letters a through z for last character)

Surely if Jagex have the trade logs, they can look to see a number of accounts trading one account in quick sucession and surely they also know what is being traded, where and when.
With all this information you can track the mules super easy.

I would be fascinated by the economics behind botting is OSRS. Such as how often do they expect to be caught, what is their marginal cost of GP and at what gold price does it no longer become profitable to bot. Because as you mentioned most of the big bot farms are owned by a single person it really indicates to me that unless you have the scale it isn't profitable in the long term especially since the price of OSRS GP is now so low.
