Steve Lukather is a treasure to the world. Such a killer musician and a great dude.
How can you not love that guy. One of my favourites ever.
Ernie Ball seems to make some of the best guitars out there. From the woods down to the very last mm of detail they're always perfect
I just saw Luke with Ringo in Ontario over the weekend. What a fantastic guitarist and humble man. Love him!!
Saw Steve play in 2012 for G3 concert in Melbourne. He was amazing. Truly great guitarist.
With Satch & Vai.
Yep, saw them in Brisbane. Wonderful evening!
Steve seems such a nice person, humble and funny, and obviously a music legend and guitar god!
One thing would have made this video better - Mr. Luke actually playing them :(
There's another video of him actually playing it somewhere
@@dbautistamedia Link?
@@RolanTHUNDER went to look for it as soon as i made this comment, it was actually the L3my bad, but it was very entertaining because he's never played it and he got put on the spot
@@dbautistamedia Oh ok cool. Would like to see that too

Luke is my all time favorite guitarist, as the name shows. He keeps me inspired and motivated to better myself at not just guitar but every other instrument I’ve learned. Thanks Luke, couldn’t ask for a better inspiration👍
Same for me!!!!
Steve, you don't need to know how to build 'em......just keep playing the royal way you do, man, and that will keep us happy (along with your amazing voice!) for decades to come!
Lukather my forever hero. Great L4 release.
I started playing because of him, he is just the best guitarist out there. My first e-guitar is an LIII that I saved money for for ages. And it's the best guitar I could have ever imagined. ❤
Congrats to both legends, Luke and Ernie Ball!! 👏 Also I saw Vinnie Moore @ 0:27. Would be cool if he got an Ernie Ball signature. 🎸 Thanks 4 making such outstanding guitars and helping Luke continue to inspire!
Got my 1st LUKE in 1994, signed by THE MAN. Now I have all 3 models 1-2-3. Need the L4 now 😂 So much fun to play those guitars
Legendary guitarist and vocalist . Love you and Toto forever. Greeting from Myanmar.
It is just amazing to see a friends through decades comes arround and make such an amazing guitars!
I want one!🙂
Two of my favorites guitars are Luke 1 and Luke II and even today, after long time relationship, those two wooden chicks plays heavenly! God bless Steve Lukather for his ideas and Music Man to have the crafting needed to build it!❤❤❤❤
I played an L2 that had a surprisingly thin neck...very comfortable. How similar are the necks between your L1 and L2?? Do you know if the L3 neck is similar?? Thank you!
@@joenardulli6685 My Luke 1’s neck is little bit beefier, if you know what I means, but (I think) was just because he came out from Valley Arts McGuire’s guitars and some of’em had slightly larger necks…but, in both ways, are really playable and comfortable!
@@joenardulli6685…I’ve occasionally played an L3 in store and 'bout the neck it looks like coming home, for me…
@@joenardulli6685 …are undoubtedly very great instruments, the only difference you can make is by choosing the combinations...
Long live Steve 👏🏻
Congrats! Luke is one of the all time greats!
My favourite musician of all time.
Love Steves sincerety.
Just in love with Luke and everything he says or emanates
Fell in love with Lukes when I played a friend's during a jam session. I now own 3 of them, including a BFR. Looks like I'm gonna be adding a 4th!
I've owned 3 Lukes...ALL stellar instruments in their own right...I've since paired that down to an amazing BFR Luke II...but I have a feeling I might have to have one of those amazing Steamrollers...those look absolutely AMAZING...keep up the stellar work MusicMan!!!
I love Music Man. I have an 83’ Stingray bass that just kicks ass. I also have a 2010 Stingray 5 string but there’s nothing like that 83’. That’s being passed down to my son when I’m gone since his mom bought it for me brand new when we didn’t have 2 nickels to rub together and hopefully he’ll pass it on down too. Thanks MusicMan for making such badass instruments for all of these years!
My L2 is solid as hell and super versatile. Great buy.
He seems like one of the most down to earth guys.
I'm sure Steve Lukather is always trying to hide how highly intelligent he actually is in many things, being humble and all. And love his sense of humor. what a guy! what a guitar! i had that first LUKE the dark blue one with floydrose and stupid of me to have sold it very cheap.
yeah, he is very self-deprecating but I guarantee you he knows a lot about pickups/technical stuff.
Legendary alive of the guitar.
Greetings from Brazil.
you are hearing it first right here...I nominate Steve Lukather to be our next P.o.TUS....... he might be the only one who is impossible to dislike and could save us
So freaking excited that I can finally afford gear that Mr. Lukeathur tours with 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hearing Luke play that L4 with Toto, I am sold. Love that natural look on that, too. The pickups are insane! Could not believe I was hearing single coils but it could clean up perfectly as well.
Privileged to own one of these amazing Luke4 30th guitars…Just amazing. 😔
GREAT guitars... 1st impression was an EVH model back in the day. Fell in love with the feel and the tones. Still one of my favorite guitar memories 🤙🏼
What an amazing human being and player.
Got L2, my number one to go to. Beats my lp, fender strat and tele anyday.
Great Master Beautiful
Just saw Steve with Ringo last weekend. Such a great show and a great guitarist!
Ive never met Sterling but I think the world of him. Fine human being.
The body shape on these looks super comfortable, and beautifully done!
Man that background music loop is really doing my head in!
Love Luke! My first front row seat was catching Toto in a relatively small, GREAT sounding venue in Vancouver circa 85' and what a show it was...
Always love seeing a recessed floating Floyd on an EBMM, would love to see that more often.
Dude the full on white hair is the best! F'in love your playing bro. Greetings from New Mexico!.
***MASTER MASTER*** *MASTER OF STRINGS IM TELL"N U ALL* *THE MASTER USES ERNIE BALL* *CATER*
master...........
This was really interesting. I only started learning how to play this guitar 6 weeks ago & I'm documenting my entire learning journey on here so this was super motivational!
The color on the first model WOW.
Steve Lukather, in my opinion is the best of all time. No-one plays with his attack and melodic feel. There are quicker guys out there, but that means jack.
I really want to thank Steve and Music Man making an affordable Sterling signature model. It really helps those who dont have 3 grand to spend, can get a great guitar for aroubd $700 ! Wish Sterling made Morse and Albert Lee models too.
The Luke !!!!!!!! Amazing musician.
I Love Luke! EBMM you guys are just the best out there! Love you! 🤘❤️
Have never liked the 'blade switch' for the bridge/neck pick ups. But these guitars are just sublime - if they didn't have a blade switch I would def buy one. SL is a genuine icon.
Soon as I come across 4K I’m getting me one !!!
Steve I have one of your Family Reserve Luke's with the EMG's. Still use it after 15 years of use. But I did put larger gauge strings on it and added springs to the bridge wami. Still love it!
Guitar God...
Heroic musician! Beautiful guitars. Delighted to own a Luke II in Luke Blue.
I could listen to Steve's comedy all day. haha
I admit that I liked the sound better when he played with Valley Arts. But anyway, you give this man a broom with 4 strings and he makes it sound like blessed glory.
The Isolation to Kingdom of Desire era is the best when it comes to the sound of Luke's guitar back then.
Keep rocking Luke! 👍🏻🙏🏻
One of the funniest videos I've ever seen,.....is of Steve getting woke up by neighbors cutting a tree up and doing lawn work. He rolls out a half stack and his guitar into his back yard and just let thst amp RRRRIP!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂All the while his in his skivvies and robe just screaming profanity while playing. It's really great.
I have three Luke 1’s and a Luke 3, soon to have a Luke 4. Unbelievable built quality.
Awesome
i wish i could afford one
Man! Take the 1992 dark blue proto color and slap on the L3 neck and ernie bridge onto the L4 "everything else electronics body" and you got yourself an EXCALIBUR of a guitar!
Such a class act!
not quite sure why you'd have Luke doing a history of these amazing guitars WITHOUT having them plugged in..but.. still cool ;)
Amyone else think the Candyman album is some of his best work?
It's a shame Music Man guitars are not being sold in Brazil. Awesome instruments. Years ago I played a Axis Sport of a friend of mine and it blew my mind. The best axe I ever played. Love the designs, quality and tone.
Love the luke!!
That is a high quality piece...so glad they brought back the Floyd! Now if i just had a few grand....
Steve could play a rubber band and still sound like Steve!
What a legend 🔥🙌
I see him every other week walking on Ventura Boulevard
I used to bike Ventura Boulevard alot, yup, bumped into a lot of people like Lenny Kravitz and Jay Leno. Seeing Luke would be terrific.
The guy is so nice, I could imagine myself going to the pub with him and have a really nice time. But when he's playing he turns into some kind of a musical god. Still trying to learn to play the wonderfull piece he did on his video of Transition Pick ups. Half of the views must be mine :-)
Luke is my favorite player of all time, took me until age 35 to actually realize he wrote the soundtrack of my life, through good and bad, 57 years later…I own BFR HH Tumescent, L3 HSS custom shop, and proudly own a Bareback SSS. I LOVE THIS GUITAR & I must have the same hand shape and neck preference for the Luke signature. The tones of these guitars are amazing and trustworthy but all different in individual tones.
The pink pack EB strings can’t be representative as Paradigm is Lukes choice. The squish of the EB PInk packs are cool but they don’t feel good, and they don’t meet the performance of the NYXL pink pack 9-42’s in my honest opinion. The L4 Bareback is amazing best put; “I’m telling you right now that mf’r is not real!!”
LEGEND!!!!
Magnifico
.💰💰💰💰💰💰
Legend...
LUKE is the BEST!!!!!
When we hear Steve's playing
The Man!!!!!
EXCELLENT.
Unquestionably the cream of the crop in the guitar industry. Next to E.S.P./LTD and a small handfull of brands, the MusicMan/Sterling names are synonymous with innovation and cutting edge gear. It's pretty safe to say, Luke knows about these things, just a little bit.
Les Paul?
i like Ernie Ball but i love Valley arts guitar!
Love to Luke!
I love the first musicman with the Bradshaw stuff in the ‘90
Check Luke birthday party with David Garfield en Will Lee👌🏽
That sound was so f c k powerfull
Lindo Steve Lukether eterno Toto amo ele 🇧🇷
We need a full length doc on this relationship and the guitars. I love my JP so much. The only thing I wish I had was a sustainiac. Do I even risk I’m having one put in? I’ll never ever sell it but I’d hate to have it ruined. If I do I may just get rid of my other guitars. I just don’t need ‘em. Thanks EB!
It’s a pickup swap,it’s not going to ruin anything lol use a push/pull pot instead of toggle switch.
@@tommilitello198 thanks. I’ve thought about this too. I don’t mind using the pickup split push pull but the system requires two switches and I need that push pull boost. So I’d need 1 hold at least which is fine as this guitar will never be sold. It’s a BFR I got brand new but considered used for way less than it was worth. I already installed a TremolNo but that’s easy to undo. I do have a concern about room in the body for the system? Thanks for your help!! Btw, my screen image is my guitar.
I love Luke and I want one of those guitars so bad but they want almost $4K and for that they don't even give you a hard case . Almost $4k and you get a gig bag? The Balls! Now I see how fitting their name is
Sono tuo ammiratore. Grazie luke
Those guitars look so great and Steve is an amazing player. Has he ever played a 24 fret guitar tho?
He played basically everything you can imagine, some of his old VA models had 24.
Growing up in the 60's and 70's the only great guitarists they ever talked about were from the British Invasion. US artists it seemed were 2nd Class. I've seen a lot of Headline Acts.
I saw Toto in 1996 or 97 at a small club on the beach in NH. The Club Casino.
It was far and away the best live show I've ever seen.
Steve is an American Treasure.
I’m awaiting my L4 Bareback action right now. Dookie brown named bareback??? I see what you did there Luke!
Update: received it today!!
Fine looking instrument, love Steve and have been lucky enough to have seen him play live. Sadly these guitars retail for thousands of pounds in the uk, so definitely not a guitar for the working man. I think a lot of Musicman guitars end up in hardcase’s securely stored rather than used. Love to own one but even second prices are out of my reach.
I want the purple one.
Myself, never been a fan of the blade switch, prefer the Gibson style but hey these are nice guitars. SL is an icon.
Edward van Halen being asked: “What’s it like to be the greatest guitarist on Earth?”, his answer: “Go ask Mr Steve Lukather!”
Great instruments. I'm lucky enough to own two Steve Morse signatures but I gotta say, It's a shame how ridiculously expensive they've become in Aus.
inflation, liberal business policies which raise production costs in California/America, and you live in Australia (shipping stuff there is insane)! lol But I hear you. Every time you turn around quality guitars are going up 3/4/5 hundred U.S. dollars. I'm glad I'm well stocked because it's getting harder and harder to afford with just an average salary.
Cool
Mr. Lukather looks so much better, more authentic, real and true with his natural grey hair. In other words his hair is not dyed. Instead of looking like a runaway from a Freak Show, his hair now looking very nice - very natural, without needless artificial enhancing! Ageing gracefully is the only way to go (at least in Europe).
I love Luke, now even more with natural hair! Luke is - easily - one of the best guitar players the world has ever seen. So versatile, so talented and one can only imagine how much time, effort & hard work it has taken for him to be there, where he currently is. A true living legend with a wicked sense of humour.
For Toto not being inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a disgrace. For that reason, The Hall of Fame Founders and Staff suck *ss for sure.
My favorite Luke solo:
On "Girl Goodbye"
Debut album, Toto, in 1978.
- The chorus of the very song is poor, bad and extremely stupid.
- But the guitar solo in the song is almost like no other - it's from outer space. It's insanely superb. Luke is giving his best.
Thank you for reading my message.
RIP Jeff * RIP Bubbles
