This is the most excited I've been about a closet video in a long time. One of the greatest living cinematographer's. I love his work with Inarritu, Scorsese and And Lee.

Rodrigo is the man. One of my favorite cinematographers. He crushed in on Barbie, and now looking forward to his work on Killers of the Flower Moon later this year!
Well that was the most emotional I've been in the closet. And he couldn't have ended on a better note than he did with After Life & his moment. Beautiful.

I disconnected so much from film production that I had not heard about the work of Rodrigo, my classmate in film school. I'm glad that he has defined his style as a photographer, but above all I'm surprised that he likes black and white, specifically that of the movie Rumble Fish, and he's also going to direct Pedro Páramo, wow! I plan to make a future, excessively free adaptation of that novel, hehehe, let's see if his next work on it inspires me more... Greetings, amigazo, take care of your health, don't let those bleeds overuse you! Ahistá un premio, con saludo y abrazo, Rod 👏👍🍸🍸
Wolf or Wall Street - one of Scorsese's recent best! He and Prieto certainly kicked off with a visual winner! Rodrigo Prieto seems a very cool guy - and would make a great teacher!
that should be in criterion. i never had so much fun watching a film as i think it's scorsese's best film as i had a hell of a time watching it in the theaters. i didn't see it with a big audience but... the laughter we had was FUCKIN' loud
I have Woman On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown on my criterion wishlist, I can't find it anywhere else. Is the movie worth purchasing? I'm gonna buy it no matter what eventually but I ask because I chose to buy All About My Mother over it and I did not like that film. In fact I hated it. It was so conventional. I feel like it was hiding under the guise of an "art house" film, but was so basic.
I love how he praises sound, instead of image. He’s one of the greats!
Prieto's one of the best cinematographers. Cool to hear he's going to direct too.
25th is one of the greatest NY movies

I actually had a dream where I got to hang out with Tom Waits last night 😁 One of the best dreams I've had in _years!_

Spoiler, man.
Can't wait for Killers of the flower moon. Good luck with your ghostly film debut Rodrigo!
He also shot Barbie. Big year for Prieto fans.
Can’t wait😭😭😭
His explanations are absolutely wonderful. I could listen to this man for hours.
Pedro Páramo is one of my favoirte novels of 20 century. A very ambitious project. If you like Zama or Memoria you should check it out.
No idea how he will mange to adapt it, but very interested
It's an excellent novel, and I find it almost impossible to adapt it into film, but I trust in Rodrigo Prieto.
I love that he chose After Life. My favorite film. So moving and gentle.
I can really recommend the episode with him on the Team Deakins podcast! Truly a genius in his craft!
Thank you for the podcast recommend!
@@SamDavies94 You're welcome!
Team Deakins is such a phenomenal podcast
Yes!! Gotta get more D.P.s in here! Roger and James Deakins in particular!
I love when people come in and pick different movies from previous closet videos. Also, all of his choices are top notch.
Brilliant and articulate closet visitor. Thank you!
Rodrigo should be a more known name of DP's with how eclectic his work is
His filmography is rather incredible.
I’m always interested to learn what films cinematographers respect
Brilliant DP! Thanks so much for having him on.
Incredible cinematographer. Picked a few movies that I own, too. Worked with my favorite directors. Stellar choices.
One of the most underrated cinematographers working right now.
If his name is on a movie, it’s good.
He is NOT underrated but rather under-appreciated!
Great Rodrigo. He's been in very important films. One of the greatest cinematography director.. Without any doubt. 🎥🎥🎥
Splendid! Please consider inviting more cinematographers into the closet. Cinema is a visual medium after all!

Criterion, please keep up with these closet video's. I absolutely Loved this one!
Uno de los más grandes en México y va en ascenso, grande Rodrigo Prieto🙏 Se nota que le sabe y tenía muchas ganas de hablar de su trabajo
woah amazing news of the pedro paramo adaption
Just saw Silence yesterday with my best friend, that movie should TOTALLY be in the Collection
By far the best closet video of the last few. Actually said a lot of interesting stuff.
A big yes on Afterlife, a wonderful movie.
Women on the Verge seems to be the most accessible and commercial Almodovar film, but Matador holds a very special place in my heart.
I love the explanation and comments on each film, one of the better closets!
He really has an amazing choice of movies.
I loved 25th hour and never knew who was the genius behind the cinematography.
love his work! love his selections! love this series!
Not enough people pick Kwaidan. Masterpiece!
This man has worked with SCORSESE, IÑARRITU, ALMODÓVAR, what a career!! Only a master can work with masters 👌🏼
Ever since Iñárritu's death trilogy, Prieto has shot films for Martin Scorsese and Ang Lee.
Someone give this carnal an Oscar already!!!

After Life is a brilliant film, glad to see it mentioned
Kwaidan is a wonderfully beautiful film. He hit the nail on the head with how tactile the artificiality is, but nonetheless gorgeous to watch.
'Kwaidan' is very possibly the single most beautiful horror film ever made.
@@barrymoore4470too bad the stories are Medicore
Amores Perros is one of the best movies ever made.
It truly is a Jewel that has you at the edge of your seat
FINALLY, someone chooses a Kore-eda movie
ikr???!!
OMG Pedro Paramo! Can't wait!
I was just thinking, "I forgot about that movie!", re: 'Afterlife', and then it's said "Hopefully I reminded you". Thank you thank you!
Can't wait for his directing debut with 'Pedro Páramo.'
This is one of those rare closet vids that feel like they could be ASMR
Ya espero Pedro Páramo 🎉
I think he did The 25th Hour, which is well worth your time.
Great selection!
So great to hear he's directing :)
love this man!
LOVE. This one was GREAT.
I didnt realize he shot Broken Embraces which is Almodovars most underrated movie. Hi work on Frida is breathtaking as well.

Amé lo que dijo sobre los sonidos que hace cuando quiere explicar un movimiento de cámara.
I’d really like to hear him talking about Roma (2018)
After Life is a beautiful movie (and it is on RUclips to watch). Amazing choice.
GOAT cinematographer, sharp as shit.
This man is one of the best modern cinematographers.
He even made garbage like Barbie look great.
This is the 1st Closet Pick that I could think of where a filmmaker picked one of his own movies. You would think he would already have a copy of it.
espetacular diretor de fotografia.
Pedro Paramo 💛
Does anybody know which camera is used to record these videos?
Love 25th Hour
He's behind the live-action BARBIE movie
Silence was amazing
Next I go and find After Life and watch it straight away!
Silence should be on the Criterion
Some unusual choices. Also, Kwaidan apart, not much early stuff
YES
Based Barbie cinematographer
Loved this
Afterlife is 10/10
I want to see After life.
Amazing!!!
You guys should get Ryan trecartin and Lizzie Fitch on here

Might as well put Alejandro in it
