A lot of defense is effort and the Fever lack effort on D. You can blame coaching too but not boxing out? You learn that at age 8. Boxing out takes effort and it's easier to just stand there and let the ball bounce your way.

That's not true. I've seen her force passes from many guards, knock passes away, make steals, block shots. Yes, he highlighted several poor defensive plays by Caitlin through 40 minutes..two of the last were late in the 4rth quarter when she had 5 fouls and was tired. I wish she could just play 33 minutes.

Yes she will make some splash plays on D but they make up a fraction of 1% of all possessions. Her overall defense is not good and lacks fundamentals. I don't understand why these coaches aren't teaching what you are explaining here. I am guessing that they know but don't know how to teach it. Knowledge is one thing but transferring that knowledge to another or others is not so easy. The staff obviously does not know how to communicate to the players and I agree with you they are ruining this team it is so hard to watch. I blame ALL of her selfish previous coaches for allowing her to just shoot logo threes because it brought in ratings and won them games in college. Coach Blunders biggest blunder was not teaching and preaching to Clark how important it will be for her to cultivate her midrange game AND allowing Clark to be a pg. @@Oneanddone14 I get fans are paying to see her, but yes she shouldn't have to play all 40 minutes. The last 3 games were against quality teams, where she has 1 steal and 1 block total. Fever scheduled got front loaded with a lot of Chicago, Washington, and Atlanta games where her defensive stats looked better. DT's attitude about CC may have been catty, but she was right about levels to this, let's hope CC improves from this.
@@Oneanddone14 The OP is right and he explained it exactly the way I see it. She does go through the motions on D until she gets the ball back. Yes she will make some splash plays on D but they make up a fraction of 1% of all possessions. Her overall defense is not good and lacks fundamentals. She actually looks lost on D a lot and it's frustrating to watch. More importantly her body language on the court needs to improve. When things don't go her way her body language is poor.

I don't understand why these coaches aren't teaching what you are explaining here. I am guessing that they know but don't know how to teach it. Knowledge is one thing but transferring that knowledge to another or others is not so easy. The staff obviously does not know how to communicate to the players and I agree with you they are ruining this team it is so hard to watch. It doesn't look like there's any intention of getting rid of this staff but they should!!
Imagine what this team could be with an actual coach who knows what they are doing. None of them know what they are supposed to do on defense. Caitlin is basically being held on a leash by this "coach". They have the most exciting product in the league and they don't know what to do with it.
The Fever need a better coach and Carrington. P.S. this is why professional sports exist, can you imagine this guy and millions of other sports fans being THIS passionate over all their money going to foreign wars and the military industrial complex?
The way the Ace3s shot so many more 3 pointers than the Fever was shocking. Sorry Fever, someone was saying something in the comments somewhere about betting for them to lose all the time, I do not blame the people who expect little from them as a team.

Not a Clark fan but I agree that the coaches are insufferable. I don’t get it? Caitlin is NOT a point guard. The problem is she is a shooting guard WITHOUT a midrange game, lacks physicality, and doesn’t understand the word defense let alone how to do it. This is not her fault though. I blame ALL of her selfish previous coaches for allowing her to just shoot logo threes because it brought in ratings and won them games in college. Coach Blunders biggest blunder was not teaching and preaching to Clark how important it will be for her to cultivate her midrange game AND allowing Clark to be a pg. Sides is making the same mistakes.
