And don't ignore Mitchell's cuts to the basket. Give the coach some credit, too. It's all coming together nicely.
Yep, too many people think she just passes very well. She does. But her unique skill is creating the openings for those passes with her eyes, head, and ability to drive to the rim or shoot a deep 3.

I think they're up to 3: Kelsey, Aliyah, and Lexie. I realize we need to keep seeing Lexie show up like she did in this game before we can call her great, but I have high hopes.
@@JE-IC Lexie is still in development. So is Smith. I think CC is giving Lexie confidence like she did with Hannah Stuelke at Iowa. Great potential on defense, and making much better defensive decisions now. I think the success in this game was all dependent on her hitting the first layup off a CC get-ahead pass, which was a shaky layup. Last game she missed it. Next layup was clean, and then the 3s started raining down. Gabbie Marshall was very confidence driven too. Lexie's build makes it difficult to stay on her feet, and absorb contact and drive, but it helps get over screens on defense. She has very soft hands to catch any pass from CC, and great speed. It's all about making the layups. If she can do that with regularity, everything else will fall into place.
She's fortunate that the Fever were so bad for many years that they racked up a lot of high picks in the last 6 years. Boston: #1 pick, Mitchell: #2 pick, Smith: #2 pick. So, over the last 6 years, the Fever had the first pick twice and the 2nd pick twice.
@@kimlinden2280 Wow 2018 was a great quality draft year. #1 pick: A'ja Wilson, #2 pick: Kelsey Mitchell, #4 pick: Gabby Williams, the rest of the first round picks are still playin in the WNBA for the most part, #16 pick Kristy Wallace still hanging in there :)
Caitlin’s teammates have also learned that she is a willing passer, and if they run the floor and move on the offensive end, she’ll get them easy shots. Kelsey Mitchell has learned that she doesn’t have to dribble all the time, and she’s actually scoring more points.
Well, Kelsey hasn't had the fortune of playing with a top tier PG during those rebuilding years. Her points average though has been around 18 points for the last 5 years. She's always been a good scorer.
Lexie Hull said while smiling, if you get open CC will find you. Even KM is starting to see how the CC passing will elevate her game. KM would be foolish to bail just when the money starts to really flow into the Fever arena.
People who are saying CC isn't singe handedly carrying the Fevers to the playoffs has not watched WNBA last season, Fever was LAST in their division with the same players, Boston, Mitchell, Hull, Smith, Wheeler, etc.... with the addition of ONLY CC they're finally making it to the playoffs. Yes those players were good but let's not kid oursevles and undervalue CC's contribution to this team.
KM was a liability. She would pound the rock and force shots all the time. Now she does not have to think too much and just is going with the game is giving her. CC is feeding her easy buckets non-stop by great passes and her taking the focus of the defense.
Eh, the Fever were even worse before last season. The addition of Boston moved them from a 5 win team to a 13 win team. You also have to realize they were an even younger team last year with a whole new coaching staff and system. Wheeler was also their starting PG and she had a horrible time at getting the ball inside so Boston and Smith could work their magic. I would argue that it is the smarts of Boston and Clark working in tandem that are driving the surge this year.
I guess you are playing loose with the meaning of singlehandedly. In a literal sense, singlehandedly would mean the other players don't need to be on the court. I think we know how that would turn out.
@@KOSMOinfinite Mitchell is also passing before dribbling a lot more lately. This team was barely passing at the start. It's become more and more a passing team. No doubt AB is learning from CC what is possible.
Caitlin Clark is single handedly getting her teammates wide open shots. Did you see what happened when KM and AB were trying to play HERO BALL the first 2 quarters?? Missed 3's, missed layups, got they shiz BLOCKED. CC didn't have her first assist until lexi hit one on a break end of first quarter. Mid way through 3nd quarter they all started passing to the open shooter. KM ended with 3 assists a 300% increase over avg. and AB had 8, WTH? That's a personal best. That's also when it became a blowout for the Fever!!!!
Exactly. They are learning what is possible. At the start of the season, this team was so stagnant. Nobody was moving, so players could be blitzed into turnovers. Most ppl are forgetting that when Temi is back, this team is gonna be lethal.
@@a2knyc Rewatch the first half of the Seattle game. Mitchel and Boston both were playing one on one ball and ignoring Clark. I don't know if they'll ever fully break those old habits.
People say she's the female Steph Curry but she reminds me more of a Steve Nash just in terms of her shot creation for her teammates and mentality to push the ball on every miss. Also, people forget how good of a shooter Nash was. Nash and Curry have about the same career 3pt %. CC is only 33% but she was 38% in college. If she gets up to 35-38%, she'll be unstoppable.
Curry was never the top scouted player in the entire league as a rookie. But she reminds me of Magic Johnson with the ability to shoot from deep like Curry.
@chuckd2435 Me personally, I dont give two chits about her turnovers.Unless one leads directly to a Fever loss(like a last play of the game deal) doesnt matter to me.. Thats the ONLY thing these ID10T haters have is the turnover stat... Big Whoop..
What I love about CC is that she knows how to trust her teammates. She is so team driven. Sure she’ll take the shot, but usually only if it’s the best/only options. One outcome of this team mentality is that it highly encourages communication and awareness. Everyone seems to be watching the others and acting upon it. The plays the come from said teamwork is frikin Butter!! Like that pocket pick whatever. Holy moly!!
She should be able to trust them. She's got 3 teammates who are #1 or #2 draft picks. And, two of those were All Stars before Clark arrived. They deserve a good bit of the credit for the team's success.
THIS IS INCREDIBLE / ACCURATE BREAKDOWN OF FILM. Someone should really get CC's attention on this ! There is NO WAY she won't benefit from watching this !
I agree CC is singlehandedly taking this team to playoffs... Reason why is the Fever team is pretty much the same from last year and what was last year's record with out CC? Add CC and look at the record this year... So that's proof to me SHE is the difference!!
Well, if you keep adding #1 and #2 picks you should be getting better year to year. The Fever were terrible for a decade. Thus, they got a bunch of top picks that are now beginning to mature. And, CC just adds to that. In the last 6 years, they had Boston #1 pick, Mitchell #2 pick, Smith #2 pick. It is similar to how the Aces built their championship team. Pairing 3 existing #1 and #2 picks with a Point Guard who is a #1 pick should lead to a lot more scoring, for sure.

Ugh Kelsey Mitchell has been BALLIN. And Kelsey hits all the clutch shots when the game gets close. Oh, and Hull made six 3’s yesterday, and Boston nearly had a triple double. TEAM win
@@thecaptain29 Sure but Kelsey is dropping nearly 30 a game both games with most of her shots coming on ISO. The title says “single-handedly”, that’s not the case. They are playing great team ball but also have great games individually. It’s OK to give credit to other people besides Caitlin too.
Clark is playing well, and is a big part of why Indiana is competitive this season. That said, give her teammates some credit. Aliyah Boston is a beast in the paint. Kelsey Mitchell is scoring nearly 18/game, Lexie Hull had the game of her life over the weekend. And the the rest of the team is simply getting it done. Of course it is easier when Caitlin Clark commands so much attention, but give credit where credit is due. The rest of the team are finding ways to get open, and are then making their shots. Indiana could very well be a force in the playoffs, and it will be because of they are playing as a team with much more depth than they get credit for. Sometimes it takes one player to bring it all together as it did for the Celtics with Bird, and the Lakers with Johnson.
People may not be aware that both Mitchell and Boston were All Stars before Clark was on the team. And, Clark is benefitting from the Fever being so terrible, for years, that they got a lot of top picks for her to play with. Boston, Mitchell and Smith are #1 or #2 draft picks. Only a few WNBA teams have that many top picks on the roster simultaneously. The benefit of the Fever being bad for 10 plus years.

Caitlin Clark has just awesome vision of what's happening in the court that she easily knows who is free and/or strategically located to make an easy basket.
Yeah they are really taking good advantage of the other team missing. Their defense needs work though. Hard to go against someone like A’ja Wilson who doesn’t miss very often. Storm is a really good team though. They beat the Fever 3 times this year which makes this win even more special.
Well, maybe the Dream wore down the Storm for them. I was at that Friday night game, when the Dream won in the last second with a Tina Charles basket. Great fun game to attend. The Dream beat both the #2 and #4 ranked teams this past weekend after finally getting their PG back, who has played in only 4 games this season. Unfortunately, Cheyenne Parker got injured Friday, though.
@@kimlinden2280 the Dream aren’t the same team from the first half. When the analytics say the Fever have the easiest schedule, it’s BS. Poor record teams got injured players back. What matters is the Fever are better.
Can you imagine if there was an NBA game or NBA all-star game and they let Caitlin Clark play? I wonder how good she would do? I wonder how much better she'd make the NBA stars? Imagine the hatred!
This is a perfect example when someone is foolishly and blindly in love. Desperately need some fresh eyes. Clark is good, but a truly great player, and number 1 draft pick, would leave no doubts about the ROTY, yet a 7th draft pick is side by side with her in making history. FACTS
I was at that game, One of our better games we’ve played this year so far Lexie was getting to her spots and knocking down 6/7 from 3. Finishing with a career high 22 points Aliyah Boston was having trouble scoring against Seattle’s Magbegor so she started facilitating with a career high 8 assists also 15 rebounds (flirted with a triple double) Caitlin Clark always does her thing 23,5,9. She made some tremendous reads I doubt anyone else in the wnba could make those types of passes And Kelsey Mitchell is is just a natural born scorer, a lot of people call her a ball hog, I just see it as her knowing how to play her role which she’s incredibly consistent in I wonder if the Fever could finish above 500 for the first time since 2016 and we should make the playoffs this year since then too
It really is beautiful basketball, making everyone around her better by putting the ball in a good position. It seems that mentally, she is always a step ahead of the defender.
For myself and many others who saw CC in college, she is performing up to expectations playing, learning from her mistakes, growing, meshing with 2 other exceptional talents in AB and KM, and other talented players on the Fever team. People who expected her to struggle mightily, including veteran WNBA players, simply underestimated how good she is. That's somewhat understandable considering that Kelsey Plum and Kelsey Mitchell were 1 and 2, respectively, on the all-time women's career college scoring list until CC passed them this year while she was wrapping up her career at Iowa. KP and KM are excellent talents, but each struggled and had difficulty transitioning from college to the WNBA, which was the norm. Their struggles served to suggest to many that CC would struggle like them in her rookie season and beyond for a time. CC is just a better all-around player and more mature than other rookies whom she was compared to, but those other rookies like KP and KM over a longer period of time have proven to be outstanding WNBA All-Stars. CC landed in a great spot on a hungry team with some very talented All-Star caliber players in AB and KM who needed a highly skilled floor general to organize and lead them. It's a team game, and the Fever are developing into a championship caliber team. Props and credit to all who are buying in, growing together, contributing, and playing, winning basketball.
No WNBA players said she would "struggle mightily". One or two simply said it would be an "adjustment". Taurasi said it's an "adjustment from college playing with grown women". And, Clark literally said she agreed with that statement. She talked, in her first couple of months, about the adjustments she was experiencing with the physicality, etc. Her high turnover rate in the first couple of months was also evidence of adjustments. Getting used to the increased athleticism of players in stealing passes. I think with Kelsey Plum, she bloomed when they had the coach change and the new coach put her back in as a starter and had more or a motion offense emphasizing 3 point shots which is one of her strengths. Before Hammon, the Aces had Cambage and Wilson and it was more of a post player traditional centered offense under the prior coach. As soon as the Aces had a new offensive mentality, Plum was more impactful. With Mitchell, she was stuck on a Fever team that was terrible and rebuilding, without a top tier PG. But, she was a good scorer from the start as a rookie. She was averaging 13 and 14 points in her first two seasons, playing about 24 minutes. Then the last 5 years she has averaged about 18 points regularly. She's always been a good scorer.
@kimlinden2280 Maybe not in your mind, but I think we are pretty much in agreement. You approach it from a different perspective with certain data and details but I don't find that anything you said contradicts or negates anything that I said, other than you beginning your comments with "No WNBA players said she would 'struggle mightily'". I heard the comments of Diana Taurasi and others. DT wasn't wrong for saying that it's an adjustment from college playing with grown women. Other WNBA players, some sports network commentators, and WNBA fans agreed with DT. Multiple things can be true at the same time. I'm not throwing shade on CC, AB, KP, KM, DT, or any one else in the WNBA. I'm not throwing shade on any of their rational fans or on any of their rational critics. I appreciate and respect all of them. All Opinions Matter (AOM)! While all opinions matter, I sometimes offer my opinion and pusback on what I perceive to be comments coming from "irrational for or against fanatics and critics". Your comments are not irrational, and like I said in the beginning, I think that we are pretty much in agreement.
This is so amazing and fun to watch. Nobody saw this coming from her in her rookie season. I knew she was going to be great. But CC’s on court situational awareness is scary unbelievable for a rookie. Credit Sides for getting the rest of the team to finally adjust to this basketball badass phenomenon. The Fever just became dangerous.
Your analysis is spot on and concise. And thank you for not being one of those dbags that rewinds the video then goes forward and back and forward and back...
Caitlin Clark being snubbed by the Olympic Committee and by Olympic women’s coach was a USA embarrassing bad management, there’s going to be big regrets about it
Nah, Clark has no regrets. She needed the break and rest. She said so herself. She said, at the All Star break that she was exhausted and that was why she didn't enter the 3 point contest or skills challenge. And, I don't think the Fever would have wanted her to play in the Olympics either. If exhausted, she risked injury and that would have disrupted her chance to win rookie of the year. For that reason, I don't think any top rookie should play those extra Olympic weeks. And, Clark was not eligible for the 3x3 Olympic team as she chose not to do the qualifying tournaments. And, the team won gold. Every player on the Olympic team deserved to be there.
Caitlin Clark can read the play ahead of time. She is composed and "into the game". She knows that she is "played", so she makes herself as "bait" to coordinate with her team-mates to play freely good. Aside from that, she scores at will ... and that makes her EFFECTIVE and UNPREDICTABLE❤.
All of us who can't slamdunk a ball have a lot to learn from her. For others who can, it's her magical passes and three-pointers. But most of all, her mental maturity and poise in the face of being kept out of the Olympic team is something we old guys can learn from.

What a clinic! They can watch the tapes, but they can't stop perfect passing. ❤
Thank you, AC! Brilliant breakdowns! CC and the fever are going to cause problems for opposing teams in the playoffs! :)
CC has been getting a lot of help. Team has made tremendous strides
The team defense is vastly improved. Lexi Hull is a dynamic whirlwind on defense. On offense the ball movement has picked up and everyone is willing to create and pass. Boston with 8 assists. Wow. And don't ignore Mitchell's cuts to the basket. Give the coach some credit, too. It's all coming together nicely.
Love your analysis. You allow me to see (and understand) things I didn't see in the game. Keep em comin'.
Yep, too many people think she just passes very well. She does. But her unique skill is creating the openings for those passes with her eyes, head, and ability to drive to the rim or shoot a deep 3.
Caitlin Clark has helped to greatly elevate this team, but she is not single handedly carrying them to the playoffs. They've got other players who are greatly contributing to their success.
Sorry, dead wrong. Caitlin is literally carrying them.
@@MzrSol87 You are wrong. They just didn't have a top tier PG. But, they were still rebuilding. Wheeler was there as a Vet influence. Both Boston and Mitchell were All Stars before Clark arrived. The Fever have four players who were #1 and #2 picks. Boston was still very young last year. Mitchell was been a great player the last few years. The PG is just filling in the gap that was needed. Clark is on one of just a few teams that has four top draft picks. She is leading the team is PG, but not carrying it by herself with that much top talent. No one says Chelsea Gray or Aja carries the Aces because they also have a bunch of top picks playing along with them in Plum and Young.

#1 pick: A'ja Wilson, #2 pick: Kelsey Mitchell, #4 pick: Gabby Williams, the rest of the first round picks are still playin in the WNBA for the most part, #16 pick Kristy Wallace still hanging in there :)

hah, just wrote a comment "Caitlin Clark is healing mental issues with her basketball skills" before reading yours.

There is no such thing as a boring game when Caitlin Clark is on the floor.

I was wondering during those first two quarters, WTF were they doing?
She got everybody passing
Even Mitchel which most of us thought would never happen.

Outstanding overview of CC's abilities:)
Someone needs to give this man an NBA or WNBA coaching contract! ASAP !
Holy moly!!
Lmfao more white delusion
She should be able to trust them. She's got 3 teammates who are #1 or #2 draft picks. And, two of those were All Stars before Clark arrived. They deserve a good bit of the credit for the team's success.
I was having a terrible day, and I still am, but at least there's a new AC vid. God bless you, coach.
THIS IS INCREDIBLE / ACCURATE BREAKDOWN OF FILM. Someone should really get CC's attention on this ! There is NO WAY she won't benefit from watching this !
" LET HER COOK " - Unc
Yea, Clark is a beast.
Caitlin is amazing
Seeing the game of Basketball through the eyes of Caitlin Clark for these past few months has been nothing short of PHENOMENAL!
I’ve never been interested in the WNBA until Caitlin Clark. I’m now more interested in her games than I am of ANYONE in the NBA including Steph, LeBron, KD or anyone else you can think of. She plays the game in such a beautiful and efficient way! This girl has me hyped about Basketball the way I use to feel as a kid watching Kobe. Incredible!

Terrific guide to C.C.'s unreal abilities. I enjoyed it immensely.
I've never watched basketball, either here in Australia and definitely not in any other country. Why the hell am I now glued to watching the Fever every day on RUclips? CC is legit. Vision is crazy. Makes the whole team better.
Ugh Kelsey Mitchell has been BALLIN. And Kelsey hits all the clutch shots when the game gets close. Oh, and Hull made six 3’s yesterday, and Boston nearly had a triple double. TEAM win
CC runs the team. They couldn't generate that kind of offense without her assistance and the attention she draws from defenders.

@@thecaptain29 Mitchell has averaged 18 points in the last 5 seasons. She and Boston were both All Stars before Clark arrived.
The wnba should appreciate Catlin Clark for what she's doing ❤❤❤❤❤

Your video breakdowns are top notch! 💪🏻👈🏻🫡
Yeah they are really taking good advantage of the other team missing. Their defense needs work though. Hard to go against someone like A’ja Wilson who doesn’t miss very often.
Storm is a really good team though. They beat the Fever 3 times this year which makes this win even more special.
True. They cannot improve to a premier defence team this season. The best solution right now is to maximise their running game.
Their defense got work. Mitchell was relentless on Loyd. It's better when Hull gets more minutes. She did a lot to justify those minutes.

So true....no doubt she'd average 10+ APG in the NBA
This is a perfect example when someone is foolishly and blindly in love. Desperately need some fresh eyes. Clark is good, but a truly great player, and number 1 draft pick, would leave no doubts about the ROTY, yet a 7th draft pick is side by side with her in making history. FACTS
CC has something very few players have....Gravity which distorts the defensive scheime. Great breakdown again. Hope you send Sides your link.
I was at that game,
One of our better games we’ve played this year so far
Lexie was getting to her spots and knocking down 6/7 from 3. Finishing with a career high 22 points
Aliyah Boston was having trouble scoring against Seattle’s Magbegor so she started facilitating with a career high 8
assists also 15 rebounds (flirted with a triple double)
Caitlin Clark always does her thing 23,5,9. She made some tremendous reads I doubt anyone else in the wnba could make those types of passes
And Kelsey Mitchell is is just a natural born scorer, a lot of people call her a ball hog, I just see it as her knowing how to play her role which she’s incredibly consistent in
I wonder if the Fever could finish above 500 for the first time since 2016 and we should make the playoffs this year since then too
Man I love your energy and your analysis!
That was an exceptional breakdown!
awesome analytics dude. love it man. ❤
Love your analysis, AC. Keep it up!!
Thanks for the breakdowns!
1st time subscriber. Excellent breakdowns, mate
That’s what make her the most exciting player to watch

Caitlin Clark can read the play ahead of time. She is composed and "into the game". She knows that she is "played", so she makes herself as "bait" to coordinate with her team-mates to play freely good. Aside from that, she scores at will ... and that makes her EFFECTIVE and UNPREDICTABLE❤.
