I dissect a pair of Nike Air Monarch IV Cross Trainers to see if I can locate the root cause of the squeak. I found it so take a look.
Was just getting ready to order a new pair when I first decided to see if any info was available on the squeak. So glad I quickly came across this, worked great, thanks a lot!!!

Disgusting that 9 years after you posted your video NIKE is still using garbage materials and assembly.
I prefer these shoes because my ankles require the support.
There just isn't another around that does the job, but like clockwork, they start squeaking after 2 weeks.

It aggravates me too because I have an original pair of Air Monarchs (version ONE!) and they're in great shape. Nike used to make very high quality shoes and then the bean counters and executives decided to just coast along on Nike's reputation, which is now ruined. I got a pair of Reebok Pumps (a re-issue) and they are the same quality as my old Nikes. It still frustrates me that while Reebok is very difficult to find, Nike is eveeerryyyywhere. I guess Nike's method is "advertising first, quality last." LOL.
I microwaved each shoe for 30 seconds and that eliminated the squeak. Your microwave power and time may vary so be careful. This solution has fixed at least 4 pair over the past years. I love these shoes, I even have black ones for dress up.

@@thecreator7649 Cool, lately I have been doing the talcum powder fix. For the most part that seems to work too. I have had to try that more than once on the same pair. I microwaved a pair too long once and I think I deflated the air bag inside the shoe. I'm still buying them because I haven't found a more comfortable shoe but some pairs still squeak at times.

You are a true wizard my friend. These have been my fav shoes for years but like you mine would squeak like a herd of ducks coming down the hall. It's cool to finally see the cause. Hopefully Nike will man up and fix the problem. Nice video.

Still nothing. 2 pairs of Monarchs and a pair of Nike Air Max 97 (2019 model) do the same duck sound
Wow, thanks for sacrificing your shoes! I love these shoes and have an older pair, maybe 4 or 5 years old that I never had a squeak issue. The newer pair I bought within last few months just started squeaking.a few days ago. I saw in another video where talcum powder seems to work for some people. Not sure if they took out the inner part of the bottom before applying the talcom, but I'm gonna try that and see how that works for me.
Currently on my second pair. I was lucky enough to not face this issue with the first ones but after I threw those out I bought another and Christ almighty these squeak like crazy
Nike needs to come out with some Air Monarch work gloves to match the yard shoes.
Been buying these for years. My wife hates them. That's part of the appeal.
baby powder when they are new will keep it from happening even has fixed mine after the squeak starts add a little every 30-60 days and you are good to go

Yup, I had a pair of Nike Air Monarchs for work...After 2 months the right shoe developed an obnoxiously loud squeaking sound in the inner sole...I thought it was just me and got a defective pair...Glad Im not the only one... I'll never buy those again!

10 years later and Air Monarchs are still squeaking! Foot powder fixed them for now but the microwave is the next weapon to try when the squeak returns...
I'm on my 2nd pair. Glad to know it's not just my bad luck. I live in a home with 100% tile floors. Ugh !!! Was driving me nuts. I'm going back to New Balance. Only bought these because Nike finally started making 4E widths available and they were a comfortable fit. But the squeak can make you crazy !!! Thanks for the info. I now have 2 more pairs of yard work shoes :)
Nike is a squeak of a socialist cheap ass shoe! Never buy again. Have plenty of brands to choose from. Fuck the swoosh.

Thanks for doing this! Mine are driving me nuts. Nike says they warrant their shoes for 2 years after the manufacture date, so I might just RMA mine (even though I just got them nice and broken in!). Question: Have you bought earlier models of Monarchs? Does the Monarch II have the same creaking issue?

Same problem with the White ones i had it drove me crazy but I had the shoes for 2 months and can't return them , I like the shoe and the Black and white ones I have don't squeak.
I'm a fan of the Monarch also and this is an extremely annoying problem that they all seem to have. It's super frustrating. I own 4 pairs and they all have the same issue. There's also noise generated from the tongue rubbing if you have them done up tightly.
Buddy its just the sole..tool takes it apart?.... replace the sole add powder and with Dr scholls or I bought some great Katos great sole replacements.... no problem...

still do it in 2021 and 2022 local kohls they hid when i come in was my favorite show fit me great but now switched to new balance .
Ok Clark Kent. I just bought them and if they squeak I'll follow your advice. I was debating for the New Balance MX623V2 or the Nike Monarch Air, but the Monarchs in my opinion are better looking even if they both are equally comfortable. Take care!

I've had squeaky Nikes and wanted to do this. I guess its a flex point where the air capsule doesn't stay glued to the foam. This definitely seems like a design issue.
Just bought a pair to work in and they’re pretty comfy. Hopefully mine don’t squeak
pulled up the foam pad at the heal of the sneaker on the one that had the squeak, sprinkled a little baby powder under it and voila' no more squeak.

Here the fix and you don’t need to remove insert. Take one cup warm water and 1/4 cup of talcum powder. Mix them up into a slurry. Pour 1/2 cup in each shoe and slosh the slurry around. Wipe inside the shoe with a towel. When still wet, put the shoes on and take a 10 minute walk or jog. Let them dry for couple days. The squeak is gone. Nike squeakers are now sneakers.
why only the left shoe?

I have had it start with the left and the right shoe. It just depends on which shoe does not have enough glue and how one walks. Eventually they both will squeak if given the chance. Thanks for watching and I hope you saw my repair video as well. I fix the squeak on the cheap.

Nike is an expensive pile of cheap labor and materials from China or Korea . Never buy Nike again.
My left shoe separated at the sole, right above the circle at the front (between two of the cutouts near the front), causing it to squeak very loudly when wet.

Mine weren't glued securely, and the soles came off. And they squeaked, didn't fit securely at the ankle, etc. Mine were purchased in 2009, so, clearly, this is a design issue that Nike has no intention of dealing with. Not sure why these remain so popular, but I guess it's because people who prefer Nike have limited choice in cross trainers.

I am not sure about the Monarch II but the IV is the first pair that I have had that with this problem. I have another video on RUclips in which I fix the squeak and it is very inexpensive. Drove me nuts as well and I felt that everyone was watching me as I squeaked around the quiet office. Thanks for watching.

10 years later and Nike has not improved this design.
Wow. I am on what I think is my 4th pair. Always liked these, but during the pandemic I bought a pair online last year and suddenly a few months ago, they started squeaking like mad. Driving me crazy as well. I can try the baby powder or talc routine as I see some have, but why should I have to pull my insole out to add a mixture that will likely not be good for longevity. You seem to think it is not enough glue? But with all these comments you would hope they would fix that. And I was wondering if I somehow got knockoffs as I agree that for these prices, they should not squeak! I probably won't buy another pair.

Wow, that was really annoying when you kept making it squeak because it reminded me of my brand new Nike Monarchs! NIKE SUCKS!!! they were only two weeks old when the right shoe started squeaking and then a couple of days later the left started. Very embarrassing Nike!! What is a shame is these are extremely comfortable shoes

This was just a stupid waste of a sneaker. I took have a pair of squeaky Air Monarchs, as do many other people. (Do an internet search.) The squeaking isn't internal. It is caused by partial de-lamination of the tread of the sole from the underlayer it is attached to.
They start to squeak as the tread loosens, and squeak more and more as the tread gets looser and looser and then finally detaches completely. Want to stop the squeaking? Re-glue the bottom of the tread to the underlayer. I used hot glue for mine because it was all I had available when the tread fell halfway off. But something like Shoe Goo would be a better solution.

Cure for sqeak: take blue insole outl and spray inside bottom of shoe with WD 40. Really, it works.

That's why I had to find a way to fix the shoes and I have a video posted for that as well. The shoes drove me crazy when I wore them and they were a little embarrassing as well. Now they don't squeak when I walk and I don't get the headache you speak of. I Appreciate the comments.
