@ he said he would “consider” it. It’s worth 1 billion to a companies assets that have time to make their money back on it. Everybody knows it’s a quite secure investment. 1 billion is a loooooooot of money though!!
Consolidates the money and makes it easier to deal with his estate when that time comes. And most who inherit would just rather the cash anyway as opposed to some complicated partnership which always causes issues and problems down the road.
My brother is in a band that sold 2 plus million records in the 90’s and his band still gets 3-4 million plays on Spotify for their top songs. He was the chief songwriter too. I asked him over Christmas how much he made on Spotify and he said nothing. He still tours about 200 days a year and that’s the ONLY way he makes money. Their songs were featured in a big movie too, but he doesn’t get royalties because they got a flat rate. Back then a lot of artists didn’t understand royalties. They just signed the dotted line pretty much. I don’t want to say the name of the band because he may get mad 😂 obviously he’s not on Billy Joel level not even close but it’s crazy to me that he makes nothing from Spotify and Billie could possibly get $1 billion for his catalog. I know they are two separate things, but it’s odd to me.
That's one reason concert tickets are so high, these guys are actually making money on touring today as opposed to just promoting their new album as they did back in the day. And yeah, Spotify doesn't pay crap and it's in the $3 to $7,000 range depending on the band for a million streams.
Yeah, mj is dead and mccartney is alive, well, wealthy beyond measure and now owns his own material like he should have. Seems like mj's clownbitchery backfired on him.
A great poet puts his heart and soul into his art. His songs are part of his being. That’s not something a thinking man can easily sell. Hard for a working self to comprehend
He’s been bald for the last 30 years. When I saw him during the Glass Houses tour he already had a sizable bald spot. He bowed after every song and it was obvious. Those shows in Madison Square Garden were 3+ hours long. He sang standing on the piano and did a sing a long with an audience of 20,000 fans joining in. Great showman. Great show
And all the while he treated his band members like dog shit. Just ask Lib Bell.
I heard they made up. Is it true though that the bass player couldn't handle getting let go and took his own life??
Like he needs $1B. What would he do that he can’t do now?
That’s why he is not selling them
@ He said he would accept it, but obviously noone has offered

Good for him!

Someone will sell them. If not you, then your children or your children's children will. You may as well be the one.
I see what you did there
They’re like my kids. I’d consider a billion $$😅
Building a song from conception to release is difficult. Hard to let go for any amount.
The Beatles, Queen and MJ all have song catalogs worth over a billion, estimated.
Billy could probably get $750M, but he should hold out for more
I thought queens got sold already
It seems like lately the catalog prices have gone down a little
But Billy could get $1B I bet.
Yeah, don’t sell them😮
That’s what happens when you produce mega hits.
Very few do.
They sell their catalogues for the tax benefit… royalties are income and taxed as income, selling the catalogue is a capital gain and taxed as such
Last I heard he had a small motorcycle shop in Jersey.
"sleepin' with the television on"
He has enough money, unless he gives that money to an organization that he is passionate about. He Rocks.
MJ asked McCartney his price and look what happened

It might be a little high, but not far off.
I'll give him 50 bucks for the whole lot!
Rosalindas eyes.
What a catalogue though.
It’s amazing how these humans have become such hugely famous valuable
He is like Springsteen, both are huge up North.
it's not if but when he sells ...😂🎉
hold your catalog!!!
A billion❤😂😅😊
I will answer that question when your lawyer is sitting across the table from me and my lawyer.
For the right price he will sell it trust me there's no doubt in my mind.
He mentioned his price.
@1jeromeo Theu are not gonna buy it for that price
I love Billy Joel but he's not worth a billion dollars if he's worth a billion the stones are worth 10 billion
You might want to "Get" while the getting good...❤.
I know what he's saying. I would find it hard to sell my songs.
He has enough money
Maybe cut a few zeroes from that number, and some Midwestern shopping mall might go for it
You know he can get hundreds of millions easily, right?
And then he went on Stern. 😂
Ask for a billion dollars plus a mansion
Billion☠️
So dramatic when describing his songs. Pathetic
Dry your eyes, Joey.
Agreed. He's his biggest fan obviously.
A great poet puts his heart and soul into his art. His songs are part of his being. That’s not something a thinking man can easily sell. Hard for a working self to comprehend
He has good hits BUT not worth that much
Leave the songs for your grandkids
Why??? Why not free
I don’t care if it goes against the grain, I genuinely think he’s overrated.
He deserves 1 billions for his catalog
He really lost his hair quick

@drdrew3 he had a mane. Then it was just.. gone
Dont do it
He's not half as talented as queen or dylan or anybody else
"or anybody else" 😂😂😂
Opinion. Not fact. Not even sensible
