    To everyone: there are a lot of channels devoted to motorized bikes. Some of the advice you will get is okay, some is just plain bad, and some is dangerous. However, this man here, Mr. Hughes, he knows his shit. Listen to his advice and follow it. He won't steer you wrong . He's my #1 go-to guy, and if you have a question he will answer it. I've learned more about these motors from him than all the other channels combined. Plus, he's entertaining, gets to the point, and he will make you laugh. Thanks for listening. Any questions?

    What I noticed is during break in especially, things will tend to rattle loose, hell my exhaust rattled completely off and my bike died haha! So keep tightening every single thing on the bike during each hot and cool cycle, then make sure to use a bunch of red or blue loctite on things like engine mount nuts, chain tensioner nuts, exhaust and carb intake bolts, etc. It helps a lot and goes a long way to having an optimal experience with these machines.

      I never use any Loctite. I just make sure all my bolts are tight before and after break in. And then check them once a week if You ride everyday like I do.Never had any issues and I cruise 45mph all day long. Make sure Your Crank is Balanced and trued. It makes all the difference in the world! No vibration = no loose bolts!👍

    i have to agree with everything he says. i have almost 1200 miles in my bike. you dont break in a weed eater or blower, you just use them. as somebody thats been in this "hobby" for awhile, proper jetting is essential, no matter what carb you use. i prefer the sha clone carb myself. another tidbit of advice to new riders.... dont worry about upgrades until you understand and tame the beast you just built.

    he mentions that the motor is aluminum, and to be careful how much tightening you do. This was very much noted in my brain because just earlier I was tightening a screw into the motor and the screw began to strip the thread of the motor as steel vs aluminum showed that steel teeth will eat the aluminum away. i was smart enough to put a lot of loctite on after that to compensate and find a good spot to make it stick. dont be like me and tighten too hard with a power tool on the weaker metal.

    Chain saws, weed wackers, blowers don’t recommend massive amounts of oil for break in. 30:1 or 40:1 should be fine. Just keep varying rpms. Old engines used to require 10:1 regular motor oil before 2 stroke oil.

    • @HughesMotorized
      @HughesMotorized  3 года назад

    • @jaredbourgeois4722

      Oil ratios are most dependant on ring thickness. These bike engines have thicker rings than the majority of motorcycles. I totally disagree with 40:1. 40:1 may be ok for a hobbyist that only rides his bike every once in awhile. For someone like me that depends on it for transportation and rides every day a higher ratio is definitely needed. I run 16 to 1 all day everyday and my bike has been dependable for over a year. There has not been one day that I haven't rode my bike within this year.

    Hey there buddy I had just saw your video on jetting and breaking in an engine. My problem is I went and got a high compression head and a mz65 clone pipe. It starts right up sounds great idle's great but when I ride it everything is good until I get a little over half throttle then nothing bog's down and falls right on its face. It doesn't stall or anything but just has no top end pick up at all. I know it's most likely my jetting because its still an NT carb with stock jetting. When I get my jet's in the mail . do you have any idea on what jet size will be the best to start at. And I'm running 40:1 ratio. And when I say it falls on its face I mean no power past half throttle. Oh also its a g4 jug if that makes a difference.

    Question, my gas scooter calls for 25:1, i believe that would be the break in period. After I can go 32:1 or 40:1. Now if I switch to 32:1 or 40:1 do I have to manually adjust the carburetor idle and fuel mix screws? If I wanted to do a weeks test for each mix and check the plugs for fouling, and do comparisons on temperatures with different fuel mix, isn't it important to adjust the carburetor each time to the correct fuel mix after it warms up??

  • @michaeldelay3925
    @michaeldelay3925 2 года назад +2

    I have a problem. I ran 40:1 and my plugs kept fouling out. I took off my filter, raised the needle 2 notches, and it got worse. I noticed a tremendous power loss, it wouldn't even climb a small hill. Seems like the longer the ride, the worse the power loss became. I put the needle back into its original factory position, increased my ratio to 5:1, and I changed my muffler gasket (it came with an orange metal ring). I think that was the original problem as far as power loss, cause it really improved the torque. I'm still getting very black spark plugs, however. And I ride fine for about 20 minutes or so, then out of nowhere it just dies with no warning. It starts back up right away, but I like opening that throttle up, and it's annoying to have it die on me every time I'm ready to haul a little ass. Any suggestions?
