Licensing can be dumb, its the reason none of the Midnight Club games have been remastered. The licensing for all that music and the cars is a nightmare. It should be a one and done thing on a game by game basis.

I still play horizon 4 to this day I live in the UK so the roads and free roam in 4 is incredible to me it actually helped me with my driving test playing it with a sim setup and just driving around like irl

They need a license to use the name “24 Hours of Le Mans” because that’s the name of an official event held every year by an organization called the ACO. And not the name of the track, which they also need a license for.
The important thing to mention here is that in 99.99% of cases...the game devs themselves take the game down PREAMPTIVELY. Very rarely in video game history has a company requested a game to be taken down because of the their initial contract inspiring. Its the devs taking down the game without even recieving one call just in case they get one and they then have to put in some effort in case the company actually tells them to keep the game up and not take it down.

Think about how many different licensing agreements they have for that one game, it would be a nightmare dealing with the agreements expiring for EVERY single one because they waited last minute. Not to mention, they need to be a good partner so they can license again for future games. Devs get a lot of flack but this is just the reality of having real cars/music in games.
It’s funny that the game has the right to use 24 hours of Le Mans but we don’t even have a non-dlc race track. Maybe Forza Horizon 6 is going to be in France?

Yep, a lot of games especially big ones out there who do everything legit they have a license for literally everything that is related to real life basically and if you see a game with rip off cars like GTA even though they are a big game they don’t have a license they just make the car look like the car in real life, but they change up the things so they don’t get sued.

In short terms, if companies still had the needed amount of employees and could produce games at the rate they used too, then it wouldn’t feel like generally “new” games were going off the shop so fast because it wouldn’t take 5 years for ever new title to release
I worked on Forza Motorsport and this licensing stuff is crazy. The people responsible for getting these games the licenses are so clutch. They're not simple deals and they can't fall through.
I just bought it from the Microsoft store for $3 with all the dlc. Buy it with this deal while you can. I own horizon 2 3 and now 4. I only need 1 and 5 and I own all the horizons

I bought an xbox S last year and i was so excited to get back into forza thinking i could play some of the old games with backwards compatibility. I load up the store and see none of them are available except for forza horizon 4 and 5 and I don’t like 5 all that much. It doesn’t have the forza feel in my opinion. It feels like a kids game. And it doesn’t embody any racing spirit. In forza horizon 2 I felt immersed in the horizon festival. It felt real. And the Italian coastline felt like paradise. 😢 the only way I can replay those is if I buy an xbox X or One and buy hard copies. I was so disappointed. I hadn’t had an xbox for several years and fully expected the older forza games to be available. I’m thinking of buying a 360 so I can play Motorsport 4. Horizon 2 was better on Xbox one though

The 24hr Le Mans license is probably for some of the GT and LMP liveries. But I get it. They can’t add anymore, but at least release ALL DLC for free, and it gets past that loop hole. They already made enough money. It’s called greed at this point. No more cars needed for 4. This way it eventually forces you into the newer series.

@@Alucard-gt1zf Until that hard drive is corrupted or you lose your account. People are even going back to digital cameras with sim card because you can keep the sd cards compared to digital stored pictures on a cloud that can just get corrupted and vanish for ever.
