All day since watching this mornings stream I’ve been overcome with waves of grief for the people who knew Lazar and his family and what agony they must be feeling. I didn’t know him but just seeing this it makes you feel like you did. The loss of his life is so unfair. I’m so sorry to his family

I don't understand how the lifeguards didn't see him on time and act promptly, they were so close to him. How this thing happened???? Big loss, Big athlete, Big heart. Serbia was proud to have such a champion as you were. Condolence to the family 😢

CF community is like a living organism, and loosing someone is physically painful. Lazar I hope you are in a better place brother, you will be forever missed by all of us.
I don’t know him and I never had the chance to meet him. His excitement of his brother qualifying this year and their chance to compete together was so touching. No one has ever said a negative thing about him and he has always come across as a genuinely kind person. My heart goes out to his family and friends, the athletes, the spectators, and the volunteers/staff who were there. This is traumatic for everyone. While this was preventable, the impact it will have on people should be met with some level of empathy.
Tragic loss. Heartbreaking. I only knew Lazar from watching him on social media, but I still mourn him heavily. This was supposed to be the triumphant year of him and his brother finally competing side by side at the Games. He will be missed!

Please everyone one think… honestly- what would he have wanted to happen in his honor?? To end the Games completely this year or to continue? What is his family saying to do?? They may not want anything to have to do with Crossfit, although he loved the sport so much. This is so difficult to navigate.
