  • In this video, I discuss how fast-acting insulin also known as short-acting insulin or mealtime insulin work. This includes Novolog, Humalog, Apidra, Fiasp, and Lyumjev. It is surprising to know that these are not the same. Although they are all considered fast-acting mealtime insulin, they do not work the same. Some are given before meals, whereas others can be given with the meal or after the meal. For that reason, it is important to learn which fast-acting insulin best suits you. In this video, I help differentiate the differences between these mealtime insulins.

    Wow I personally think Novolin R works better than all of them if u eat low carb. Just my opinion.

      Interesting--- I don't use novlin R much. Very rarely only when cost is an issue with the newer ones.

      Hi Flow. I am sorry you are going through that. That should not be the case. Have you been getting that with all types of insulin? or just one particular one?

    • @flow685
      @flow685 Год назад +2

      Just the particular one generic uvalog. I was taking Novalog before but my insurance stopped covering it so I had to switch.

      @@flow685 aha, I see. These insurance companies 🙄. So if you’re having a reaction to the generic, your doctor can write a letter of medical necessity so the brand can get covered.

      @@thevoiceofdiabetes can you recommend any fast acting insulins?

    • @thevoiceofdiabetes
      @thevoiceofdiabetes  Год назад +3

      @@flow685 the newest is Lyumjev. Fastest acting and can be taken after a meal for patients who don’t always know how much of the meal they will actually finish. Fiasp is also faster acting than the older ones. I have a video on fast acting insulins if you get a chance to watch. You may find it helpful
