    Maintaining our appliances regularly will not only give us better performance, it will also extend the life of the appliance itself. There are 6 key areas we need to clean in the front load washing machine. The lint trap / filter, The gasket, The washing drum, The detergent container, The inlet pipe and The exterior.
    Lint trap has to be cleared out atleast once a month - more frequently if you wash more frequently. Just remove the lint trap, let the water drain, remove the lint, wash and scrub it with normal dish soap / vinegar. The second is the gasket - if not maintained right, you can start having mould / fungus under the gasket and it is also an area where lint gets stored. If you just have lint, pour some water in the gasket to ease out the lint, take a wet cloth and remove the lint. If you have mould (or fungus) - place a few tissues and use a cleaning spray like Mr. Muscle or use equal parts dish soap & vinegar and leave it there for a few minutes. After that take a cloth and wipe it clean. This is something you may need to do on a more frequent basis - atleast once a week or once in 2 weeks depending on how often you wash - as I have seen that after every wash, some amount of lint gets stored in the gasket. Next is inside of the drum. If you leave the drum wet - over time, you can have mould or fungus on top of the drum. A general best practice is after washing, leave the door open for a minimum of ½ hour. If you are using a washer-dryer - it will be dry after your cycle anyway, so this may not be absolutely necessary but a good to pursue practice. Add 2 cups vinegar directly into the tub, approximately 30 grams of baking soda and some water in the detergent tray and run the hottest cycle available or the tub clean cycle. If you use detergent, it sometimes does not dissolve completely and leaves a residue. You can also have water stains or salt deposits in this container. To clean this - remove the container and use regular dish soap or 2 parts vinegar with 1 part water to wash it. Use a brush if required to get to the delicate areas. You may also need to clean the inside of the detergent container as it could have detergent or salt water deposits there too.The fifth is the inlet pipe - now this can be done once in 6 months or so. If you have hard water or water is not too clean - you may have deposits on the inside of the inlet pipe filter. You need to clean this out to make sure the flow of water to your washing machine is not hampered. The last is the exterior - depending on how dirty it is - you can just use a wet cloth only or use a cleaning spray or equal parts vinegar and water to clean the exterior. If you stay in an area with hard water - make sure to descale your washing machine once a quarter atleast. Use a descaler like this Bosch one that I use and run a wash cycle. This helps to remove the salt deposits from the inside of the washing machine and also the outlet pipe.
    If your machine has an auto clean functionality - then you can run it as per your machine’s instructions.
    So how often to clean the front load washing machine? It depends on how often you use your washing machine.

    Thank you for the nice video. It is very precise with all instructions. Following this guide will keep a washing machine as good as new. I always make sure to wipe the gasket and the lid after every wash. Since I have a secluded space for my washing machine, I keep the lid half open most of the time and also the detergent tray pulled out when not in use to prevent the growth of mold and anaerobic bacteria.

    Piece of Advice: While Draining the Lint Compartment there are 2 Outlets, one is on the Left side (which is shown in the video) and the other is a knob like structure with long pipe, pull it out first and drain the Water and then Remove the other big Cap. This reduces the risk of water leaking under the Panel.
    2. Always use Liquid instead of Detergent powder for longer life of the Drum, As Large amounts of Scales get deposited over the Spider Arm and might break the assembly during the Wash.
    3.Always use SAMSUNG Afresh Descalers to clean the drum, As these are designed for your Machines best performance

    The way to avoid a wet drum is to leave the door ajar and pull the detergent drawer out by half. Two opening in the machine creates a draught and this will help dry the machine faster between uses. And leave them open overnight or half a day not only half an hour. Humidity levels can be quite high in India and more time is needed. Your drum clean method will not work. You are combining an acid (vinegar) with a base (baking soda). If you remember 7th standard chemistry. Mixing an acid and a base neutralises BOTH. If you prefer to use these otherwise ineffective products then add the vinegar into the fabric softener compartment so it will be used in the last rinse and not mixed with the baking soda in the main wash. There is however a much better method to clean out drum. That will address residue that attaches to the inside of the tub, which you can't see where water is in direct contact with each wash.

    I do NOT think we can add vinegar (which is acidic) and baking soda (Alkaline) together (at the same time) for cleaning, could you clarify?

  • @rhnkm
    @rhnkm 5 месяцев назад +1

    Done everything yet it smells. And it's the costliest washing machine of around 42k. Main culprit is their usagw of platic around the drum which catches mould very easily and it can't be cleaned easily as it's below the gasket and drum.

    I will not let my humble jhadu watch this video. Else, it will also ask for the long due scrub and bath !
    But I must admit. The camera work was amazing. How could you place your camera accurately since it must have had its lens facing you and the view finder inside the machine? Or did you use one of the many shots you randomly took and chose the accurate one?

    • @HarmonicaShala
      @HarmonicaShala 2 года назад

      I might be mistaken here. Seems you took some top shots with camera possibly on the top of the machine. Is that correct?

    • @TheGrapevineIndia
      @TheGrapevineIndia  2 года назад

      Hi CK! Some were top shots, some from inside the drum. I am considering someday to put my gopro inside - but still not gotten the confidence to do that 😁

    • @HarmonicaShala
      @HarmonicaShala 2 года назад

      @@TheGrapevineIndia you mean put a GoPro in running cycle? Ha ha ha , it would need nerves. Not sure if it can be used under water. But even if it does, not sure what the drum rotation would do to it 🤣.
      I have another query. In some instances, I had to let out the water in the drum half way through the wash cycle by opening the lint trap and my balcony where I keep the machine turned into a pool of water! Is there a way you can do it and control the water direction and volume? I have an LG machine which is around 8 years old. My problem is that the water outlet pipe in the balcony is just let open at floor level and turns into a mini waterfall !! When such a situation occurs, I get dirty looks by neighbours standing downstairs below our flat. Your suggestions are welcome 😃

    • @TheGrapevineIndia
      @TheGrapevineIndia  2 года назад

      Hi CK - I’ve seen it being done but have no nerves yet to do it. Gopro is waterproof, but not sure its heat and wobble proof 😂
      About the water - in Samsung (maybe LG too) there is a small pipe right next to the lint trap. That’s like an emergency pipe to drain out water mid cycle. You can pull that put and make it drain into a bucket. This may help with minimizing the mess.. let me know if you don’t find it

    • @HarmonicaShala
      @HarmonicaShala 2 года назад

      @@TheGrapevineIndia unbelievable !! A very small pipe IS THERE ! And for all these years, I never bothered to take a notice. I am so happy I asked you. Thanks a ton!! 👍

    Off topic. Reg dishwashers, when you say Voltas or Faber has new tech compared to IFB or Bosch, what exactly is that new tech?

    • @TheGrapevineIndia
      @TheGrapevineIndia  2 года назад

      Hi Anil! Good question :) Many newer dishwashers are more water & energy efficient with longer cycle times. Longer cycle times and energy efficiency is counter intuitive in general - but the newer machines are able to use variable speeds, water force etc to ensure the same or better level of cleaning while being energy efficient. While previously stainless steel drum was a differentiator, now most are stainless steel. Rest more or less remain the same - at the end of the day cleaning depends on the water condition in your area, the combination of salt, detergent that you use.

    • @AnilKumar-lf5jt
      @AnilKumar-lf5jt 2 года назад

      @@TheGrapevineIndia On a similar note, why aren't Bosch/IFB even introducing any newer machines. The current ones have been in the market for a good 4-5years, which I suppose have been in the western market for a decade or so. Why haven't any upgrades come up in these mainstream brands...

    • @TheGrapevineIndia
      @TheGrapevineIndia  2 года назад

      Hi Anil, good point. Not sure why but also the reason why Faber, Voltas etc have newer technology than those.

    • @TheGrapevineIndia
      @TheGrapevineIndia  2 года назад

      Hi Swati, if you already have mould - you may need to use a tougher solution like colin, mr muscle etc leave it on for some time to let it work. Then wipe it off using a cloth. You may need to repeat this for a few times. If it is too bad - call the technician - In the worst case, they may need to replace the gasket.
