Corn crops require almost nothing of labour force, hence the low minimum wage do not explain its competitiveness. What explain the Brazilian competitiveness is climate factors(two harvests a year), long tradition on commodity, improvement in infrastructure, high value of Dollar compared to the Real(Brazilian currency) and subsidies from Goverment to buy brand new equipments and machinery. China has started transitioning their iron ore purchases to Brazilian, Russian and Guinea Africa sources. Guinea has the largest untapped high grade iron ore deposit in the world and has restarted the Simandou mine back in March. Not only coal, they also lost their barleys market in china to USA! funny...
Australia's logic is very funny though, they think its important to protect their trades with their biggest costumer which is china, from the biggest threat which is also china.
"After both metallurgical and thermal coal prices rode the surge in energy prices in 2022 stemming from Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Australian government sees its metallurgical coal exports rising to 172 million mt by FY 2027-28 from 163 million mt in FY 2021-22. Learning to grow corn like the Americans took generations, corn is not a native plant to East Asia, it will take them time. They are most well known for how they've cultivated rice over the decades, and corn is very different from anything they've grown before. The one inside now. I doubt that Westerners could be as proficient in farming lotus roots or gai choy. Fortunately, for Western governments, corn is about the most efficient livestock feed on Earth.
One of the roles of China's space station is to improve seed technology. They send seeds to study yield after being exposed to space radiation.
....you could spend billions of dollars sending seeds to space. Or you could spend a few dollars irradiating seeds in a laboratory on earth.
In the past south America appeared not to have banned the chemical DDT spray to reduce malaria or breeding of mosquitoes and etc etc.
DDT is renowned for seeping into the soil. So it's questionable whether farmed produce is not contaminated by this chemical.
I use to buy Quinoa and fried fruits exported from South America, but once it became known to me that DDT is still use in South America.....????!! ☹️

Thats a bit delusional
China in the past has had a problem growing quality corn. It was often speculated that much of it had toxic molds that made it unusable for livestock feed. Now that Syngenta is owned by a Chinese company their gmo insect resistance might be used, happens to be that they have a trait that stops bugs from attacking the grain and reduces toxic mold.
In addition to Brazil China also has agreements with Ukraine, Ukraine has a arable land area comparable to the US corn belt in terms of growing season, moisture, and land area. The ware in Ukraine is going to end and grain raised again and flow out as it did before.

@@JasonBourne-zy4nv I totally agree with you, except the farmers will not be able to sell all that corn they harvested. The internal demand for corn in the US cannot absorb all the production. Therefore, the farmers need to sell it abroad. China has been buying tons before, but now...

I think china invested big into pork in Argentina recently.
Yes, bu the Chinese demand is too high, Brazil can't produce enough.
@@guruxara7994 NO, brazil are producing enough, because china invest lots of farmland here,
China has also purchased a large amount of frozen pork and chicken from the United States, which cannot be transported by ordinary cargo ships. Similarly, American agricultural enterprises use a lot of clenbuterol, which makes China more cautious.
If China reduces its purchase of corns from the US, the corn price will drop, which is good news for consumers who love corns. Besides, the corn farmers can turn their farm land into F-35 jet fighter manufacturing factories and team up with the Pentagon and US Military Industrial Complex. After all, corn farmers could make a lot of money by selling just ONE F-35 jet, in place of millions of tons of corn.
Exactly, we should stop the corn overcapacity!
Its unfortunate that the US keeps on attacking and slandering your biggest agriculture customer. If you diss your customer they buy elsewhere. Yes
Could it be that you are hungry?
Legit question. If Corn is a commodity then why would china switching suppliers really affect the price? There still would be the same amount of corn bought and sold.
@william,
True but the money doesn't go to US farmers,
China used to buy inflated US corn as a way to appease US politicians and offset some of their trade surplus with us. But now it's too dangerous to rely on a hostile US. US could cut the corn and cause a famine, it's been talked about among the neo-cons.
You’re right. They are trying to create more/new supply in China and Brazil, and cut American corn off completely.
Thus there wouldn’t be any demand for American corn, because the Chinese and Brazil corn is a new supply that wasn’t feeding a previous demand.
However Chinese and Brazil corn is way more expensive than American, Canadian, Ukrainian, and Russian corn. Brazil corn is so expensive because of transportation costs, so unless China is willing to spend billions on rail and roads in Brazil, they’ll be over spending on this corn.
Which inevitably China will I’ll switch back to cheaper corn, leaving Brazil corn with no one to sell to.
Brazil is the ultimate loser if they try to do this deal.
Yes I get that for sure

Diversifying US crops to produce other crops rather than over-relying on corn is not a bad thing. The US has greatest farmland in the world and has a lot of flexibility in what in wants to pivot to.
Maybe if this video were half way decent it would mention the multiple attempts to encourage us farmers to grow other crops with local demand like vegetables, legumes. And of course subsidize their costs by renting farm space to wind turbines and agrovoltics.
