It is absolutely true that Carfax is a garbage company. Dealerships partner with Carfax to make their trash vehicles appear more desirable, but there is often extremely important info missing from Carfax reports. I believe this is intentional because they are paid so much money by dealerships so they want to protect that industry. I have personally been burned by incomplete Carfax reports twice. This guy is 100% correct. That isn't to say that some people won't get lucky and actually get a accurate report, but that is the exception, not the rule.
Why would carfax say anything derogatory about a dealers vehicle when it’s the dealership is it’s biggest user. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
@@manyfeather2knives423 Just because their shady practices make them a lot of money doesn't mean it isn't shady/corrupt. This is the problem with most corporations, they will stop at nothing to maximize profits, even if it screws the customer, who has no recourse in most cases.
From what I can tell based on just about every RUclips video every single car sale site can’t be trusted and neither can the dealership and your house security doesn’t work and you’ve missed the bus on the recent drop shipping trend and social media trend and just give up now because everything you try won’t work and nothing ever does what it says it will.
Good advice my friend. I’m selling a friends jeep. Got two interested buyers bother directed me to get a car fax report. Both of them friendly using first names and both using the same phrases. I was very suspicious. I researched a bit and found out it’s a scam. So I deleted their messages. Thanks from Canada 🇨🇦
CARFAX is a joke my car is lowered I ran over a rock. At the time I didn't know if something could be damaged even though I could drive it I choose to tow it. Because I towed it an accident is on my car report. Dealership said no damage but I wanted to be safe.
I was reading the carfax report provided by the dealer, for a car I’m interested in buying. It states that a 15k service was performed, also a 20k and a 25k service was performed at this same dealer. It is supposed to be a previously leased car, so I suppose this could be possible, except that the car has only 17k miles on the odometer, for 4 years! Does something seem suspect here? Is this car too good to be true? And what’s with the Carfax report?
Make sure you do your own due diligence. If you can't, have someone assist you. Look at the car you are interested in buying with open eyes, don't be blinded by the fluff. When the car warranty is finished, maintenance reports are golden. Check oil, tire condition, battery, body condition, and underbody. Rusted floor pans and rockers in many places can not be safetied or insured.
The easier way is to ask seller if it is clean title. If they show you title you don't need CARFAX. If there was a few minor fender benders, so what? You just don't want rebuilt title or salvage. Then just ask for maintenance records. If the owner has none and has nothing to say, and don't mention that they do it themselves, it likely means they didn't take good care of it. If the car had more than one owner it makes it even more difficult to know. Even a mechanic won't be able to tell. They can only look at current condition.
What about the vehicle side of things I recently purchased a car from this website and now that I heard they are a scam. Can they lie about the history of the car and accidents it’s been in or that part is trustworthy?
I ordered a report on Sunday, paid for it, and 3 days later still no report. I filed a complaint with them and they sent me back an email acknowledging receipt, set up a case number, and claimed that a case worker would be in touch. So far nothing.
Carfax put on my report that I needed tires and I'm looking at my tires and they have plenty of tread so I go to the Honda dealership where I bought my car. The guy at the dealership said you don't need tires for the winter because you have plenty of tread but if you really want tires, then I will gladly sell you a new set . So I even went to a tire dealer and he also said that I don't need tires. Don't trust Carfax!
Carfax sucks, they keep sending me emails for services that have already been done on the vehicle. They were all performed at a dealership and I've gotta report it to them? Screw them.
Literally having this problem with reaching carfax customer service. Got sold a car that the carfax said was clean and ended up having structural damage thats unsafe to drive. Been trying to fill out a buyback guarantee claim that they are supposed to guarantee but nothing from them.
i just purchased 3 and it gave me the 3. I gave the person selling the truck 1k to mark it as sold on facebook. turns out it has over 200k miles and she bought it with the milage brought down to less than 100k. poor people. Also the only good ones are Carfax and AutoCheck anything else is scammers.
I dont know man .. I think this might be ummmm bad or not so great advice .. carfax has saved me multiple times from buying vehicles that have incorrect mileage reported .. accidents . branded titles etc.. they may not catch everything butttt it can help you make an informed decision .. the multiple reports at a cheaper rate is kinduv a good thing for people who buy cars often .. I don't know sounds like a mistake on their coding .. but glad you got your money back ..
Very disturbing news about CarFax! I’ve used them in te past but based on your video and many of the comments I won’t be using them again! I guess there is no substitute for a pre-purchase inspection performed by an independent mechanic that you trust. Thanks for warning me off of CarFax! Peace, DrRick
I appreciate the info, but any time a warning is issued, an alternative option should be presentes. You mentioned there are more reliable and trust worthy sources out there; well who are they?
Nonsense. No one is obligated to present you with the whole story. It is YOUR responsibility to seek out the information you want and this video is just one small part of the total research YOU should be doing for yourself.
Carfax info is dubious at best ...can't trust it to be accurate and if they allow dealers to have info removed. What good is it?? AlWAYS get a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic.
I heard you venting and expressing your disappointment toward CARFAX but never did you offer any other alternative. Sucks that you had a messed-up experience though.
On the flip side I bet you or someone close to you look at a CARFAX before they bought a used car! CARFAX is for dealers and insurance companies. Your the guy out side of WALMART SCREAMING DON’T GO IN meanwhile there so BIG no one is looking at you.

Sometimes the number of owners doesn't match up with the amount of times the vehicle has been sold and purchased. Their reports are confusing to read

Mike sounding like he's gonna hire a hitman on Carfax lol
I used CarFax and bought three reports since I was researching what car to buy at the time. I even used my AAA discount. I had no problem with it.

Hello how do you normally receive the reports? Is it sent to your email?
i bought 3 reports and i only used one and it wont let me research other ones without paying
We had an accident a year ago and its still not in our car's carfax history...
Why my mom used to go to Carfax 😦😮😯😲

My wife checked a Carfax report on me and it turned out i'm a virgin !!
22 years married !...
I was on the website but something told be to watch a review before hitting the “ buy” button. Thank you for the video!

That's an odometer roll back.
I bought 3 and got charged the appropriate $60 so I'll leave it at that but I won't buy anymore. Do you think autocheck is more legit? Thanks

Hello Reuven. Did you ever receive your Carfax report? I tried it and the same thing happened to me. Worried that I might never get it.
Carfax put on my report that I needed tires and I'm looking at my tires and they have plenty of tread so I go to the Honda dealership where I bought my car. They want to give me 36k for a car that i bought for 60k and only 24k miles 😂😂😂
I bought the three reports package, I just used one and they didn’t give me an access to the rest of the package. It seems they scammed me
Carfax is owned by the car companies, so the prices are really inflated.
You can ask the dealer that you go for the carfax for your car
Not everyone buys car from dealer and not every dealer gives car fax
Carfax sucks, they keep sending me emails for services that have already been done on the vehicle. They were all performed at a dealership and I've gotta report it to them? Screw them.
Mike - Is there a way I can reach out to you by email? I want to get a few insights on how big this problem is. Thanks.

I would find carfax useful if it were printed on a long sheet of toilet paper😁
So do you think it’s safe to buy a used car from car fax?
Your not buying from car fax! Here's the thing! It only knows what is reported!
Thanks you saved me from using them.
Carfax info is dubious at best ...can't trust it to be accurate and if they allow dealers to have info removed. What good is it?? AlWAYS get a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic.
