    STORYLINE
The foreign ministers of France and Germany recorded a song with a German-Turkish artist in Berlin on Monday as part of bilateral talks on the challenges of integration.
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier recorded a rhythm 'n' blues number - entitled "Deutschland," or "Germany" - on a German-Turkish label in support of ethnic integration before a joint cabinet meeting of the two countries in Berlin.
The ministers were joined by the German-Turkish artist Muhabbet and seven Turkish women during the recording.
The recording of "Deutschland" showed "French-German relations could not be more harmonious or heartfelt," German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Jaeger said in a briefing last week.
The song is about integration and respecting other cultures, and mixes the rhythm 'n' blues style with a Turkish sound.
The chorus begins with the lines "Germany, why are you so aloof? Germany, be more upfront."
The German Foreign Ministry said the song would be available to download on its Internet website and on RUclips.
Earlier, German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, went to a Berlin school to debate the challenges of integrating immigrants.
Sarkozy, who has pushed legislation that institutes tests of language and fundamental French values, pressed home his argument that immigration needs to be controlled.
