“I wanted to create a work about our people who are becoming heroes, who fight in the name of victory against the enemy … During work on the new symphony, I thought about the greatness of our Soviet people, about their heroism, about the magnificent humanistic ideas and values of the people, about our splendid nature, about humanity and beauty … To our struggle against Fascism, our certain victory over the enemy, to my native city of Leningrad I dedicate my 7th Symphony.”
- Dmitri Shostakovich in Pravda, 1942.

Beautifully done by the musicians of SWR Symphony Orchestra under Maestro
Teodor Currentzis! Bravo Tutti! I especially love the sound of the percussion section!
An astoundingly clear recording and beautifully paced (excitingly quick in some parts of mvt 1). Audience should check their airways before leaving the house, in my opinion, and stay home if you're going to as much as breathe loudly.
An undoubtedly excellent live performance ruined by the audience's "airways"!...
Shostakovich + Currentzis is a match made in heaven, thank you for putting this together!
Thank you! Such a nice quality, I've searched all over and couldn't find a score with good graphics
You’re welcome!
Thank you for the score.
I don't know if you take requests, but I would be very interested in seeing a score video of Currentzis' recording of Shostakovich 14 and would be curious to know if you could make such a video.
I’m interested in that too! I’ll see if I can get to it in June.
@@symphoniacus Wonderful!
