- These hidden gems in the Great Smoky Mountains are super cool to find! The house of the fairies and The Noah "Bud" Ogle Place are some super neat finds in the Smokies. They can be tricky to find so we show you exactly how to get there by taking the Twin Creeks Trail right outside of Gatlinburg. We enjoyed searching these out and learning more about their history.

Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully we can get out this Christmas break and do some hiking
Very pretty woods! Nice piece of history. Enjoyed hiking with you guys! 😀👍
We definitely had fun tracking it down and meeting some of the descendants of the guy who originally had built the estate. Thanks for watching
Very cool that you guys met some original descendants from the estate! The hidden gems are the best discoveries! 👋👋 Ashley

So nice and beautiful 💕 thumbs up 💯 thanks for sharing your wonderful video new friend here, Happy holidays 😊
Really glad you enjoyed the video thanks for commenting and subscribing!
Beautiful hike, I did not think you were going to find that fairy house for a bit there. I have to say it is very interesting, but it is huge! Those fairies must be very large. LOL. The ones we saw in Ireland were just tiny. Ha ha.
Everything's big in the Smokies. Home of the Bigfoot lol it took us a lot longer than we thought it would take to find it. All the articles online were written wrong they said the house of the fairies was actually on the trail and it was not. So hopefully this saves some people some time if they ain't got much of it while visiting. Thanks for watching madman we appreciate it!
I've actually been to the Bud Ogle homesite but never to the Fairy House. Seen some pics but didn't know it was an elaborate spring house. That's so cool! I appreciate you guys showing, in detail, how to find it. Thank you for that. Keep doing these great hikes and videos of them. I really enjoy them!
That whole area is really cool all kinds of ruins from back in the day scattered throughout the woods. Well hopefully if you ever go back this video will help you find it because it is really cool to see you in person. Glad you enjoyed the video we appreciate you watching!
I was there about 25 years ago and we just new it as, The Spring House. If I had known there were fairies, I would have left them some treats!
That's awesome! Yeah nowadays people refer to it as the house of the fairies which is understandable because in springtime is covered in green and looks like a little hobbit house or something.
What a lovely hike! I dream of hiking the smokies one day ☺️
Hopefully you get the chance one day they are beautiful! Thanks for watching
I love to hike myself too. Looks like you had a great adventure! Enjoyed watching 😊 faroesepinoyfamily

Neat adventure! Really cool to go outside of the normal crowded areas. Beautiful scenery!
Glad you enjoyed it! Will make uploading a video soon of several locations that are lesser-known in the Smokies. Thanks for watching
Really a nice hike with some beautiful streams and fall colors. Enjoyed seeing all the structures you were able to locate. A special treat to meet some relatives of the original homestead. ...and the fairy house!
We had a really good time tracking all that stuff down. Glad we got to talk to them they told us about a lot of cool places in the area. That fairy house was definitely worth finding it was really cool to see! Thanks for watching! Hope you and your family have a merry Christmas 🌲
What a find! And to talk to the relatives...such a bonus. Great way to find out the extra stories that usually aren't told.
We talked to them for about 30 minutes found out a lot of cool stories! Thanks for watching
8:00 Very cool to find this spot! Did you see any Fairies? On the AT between Cowrock and Neel Gap, I found a very small fairy house that someone created. Interesting to find these places on trail. Cheers
It was awesome to see really cool that everything is still there. Didn't get it on video but there's several spots out there where you can see really out of place Shrubbery that he planted that still grows there. Didn't see any fairies this time that house is huge so I would imagine they would be monsters lol that would be pretty cool to find a little one on trail. thanks for watching.
Amazing place! and the scenery in the forest with the Autumn colors and the river is beautiful as well!! BIG 👍
It really was beautiful can't wait to go back in the spring! Thanks for watching

Loved watching your adventure. I didn't know what to expect with the fairly house...but was not disappointed. Watched and enjoyed every minute. Nice video. Had to do a quick google search to see where Gatlinburg was...of the course the great state of Tenn. Stay well! Have lots of friends who have just moved to your state from California and they love it.
Awesome I'm glad you enjoyed it! We had a really fun time tracking it down. We live in Georgia but we travel to Tennessee a lot maybe one day moving there! Lots of people moving from California to Georgia and Tennessee. Thanks for watching!

They really are beautiful and peaceful! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!

The leaves were amazing! Cool that you met the great-great granddaughter of the structure. 💪 Definitely good to do hikes like that away from the crowds. The second structure was kind of creepy looking. 😁 Great share. 👍
We had a really good time! really enjoy meeting the family told us a lot of cool stuff about the area. I guess if you were lost in the woods or it was night time it could look pretty creepy lol thanks for watching!

Great content, nice camera work, excellent explanations. Subscribed.
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊 thanks for subscribing we appreciate it
Rachel sure looks warm with those gloves. Love the sound of nature you use compared to using music. I have a lot to learn from you guys. You do a great job showing the journey and using different angles. The Water Mill looks pretty cool, looks like something out of a movie.
She was freezing even had hand warmers in her pockets lol She wouldn't be able to make it where you're from 🤣 I've always enjoyed just the natural sounds of a hike I'm trying to let people experience what I'm feeling while I'm there. So I hope people like it I'm glad you do. Also like mixing it up every now and then. Yeah that water mill was pretty cool we had to film that really fast had a family coming up behind us wish I had a little bit more time there.
@@NickandRachel Rachel would have not liked tue -50 degrees with windchill (or -28 regular) ❄️ ⛄️
@@SantosChronicles that's insane lol
Love the old structures. Reminds me of the stuff we have here in the New River in West Virginia! Wonderful video :)
Hopefully I'll get to visit West Virginia sometime soon looks beautiful! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi! I found your channel from a comment on Fenix the Basenji’s channel. I like the camera work in this video. You’re giving me ideas for our next adventure. 🤗 it looks like you had a great hike there! I miss that kind of nature!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Glad I could inspire you we appreciate you watching
@@NickandRachel Thanks for sharing your adventure! 😊🐕🐾🐕🐾
Bud Ogle and his wife Cindy are my great-great grandparents. My Mammaw Ogle used to talk about staying with them at the home there, which she called Junglebrook. I'll share one store about the home she shared with me. It was once a one room cabin, to which they added on a second room (not sure which was first). Even though it was only 2 rooms, they referred to the addition as the "other" or "tother" house.
Well, that's really awesome! Really cool hearing old stories like that. Are you also related to the people we ran into in this video?
@@NickandRachel I don't know them, but we are obviously distant cousins. I bet I can find them on smokykin.com, our own ancestral site. Bud Ogle's wife's name was Cindy. She's my Mammaw's namesake, but she preferred Lucinda, lol. She was an Oakley, but married an Ogle, so her married name was Lucinda Oakley Ogle. Her and my Pappaw Ogle were distant cousins, but didn't know it until later in life. She used to have fun with that. She would say things like, "if it weren't for tourists, the folks in Gatlinburg would all be crazy" (assuming she we referring to inbreeding, lol). How I miss her. Wish I would've paid more attention to her stories. She did write a bunch of them down. Her book is still for sale in some stores in Gatlinburg. She published a year before she died. It carries the title, "My 93 Years in the Great Smoky Mountains" and was also published with the title, "Queen of the Smokies" for copies printed after her death.
That is super interesting! It's really cool that you came across our video. Rachel said she's seen that book in one of the visitor's centers we went into. She's going to check it out. She enjoys all that history. And so do I.
We have a first time Gatlinburg trip in our 2021 future. I have never been. Just a short trip from Charleston. Cool adventure!
You are going to love it! So many things to do
Nice view. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Gatlinburg is so beautiful in the fall. One of my favorite places to explore outdoors.
Definitely one of my favorite places! Thanks for watching
Oh man, the Voorheis Estate. The cabin looks so nice and really cool you met relatives of the previous owners. Never heard of the Fairy House before. The scavenger hunt is how I feel with our Roadside Attractions. Nick, it is great to see you make a cameo on your own video 😀. You guys are definitely avoiding the crowd in this adventure. That Fairy House is creepy. What the heck is that. Merry Christmas to both of you!!!
It was really cool seeing ruins and different remnants of things left in the woods along the trail from back when he owned it. They were really nice people glad we got a chance to meet them gave us a lot of information on some of the locations we went to next. Yeah, I try to make an appearance every now and then so people ain't wondering who Nick is 😅🤣 was his old Springhouse he got his water from there. Could you imagine if fairies were that big and real they would be huge monsters lol. Glad you guys enjoyed the video hope you and your family have a merry Christmas! 🌲
Such a beautiful place
Thanks for watching!
Great video, love the nature there. We went on holiday there a few years ago. Greetings from Norway🇧🇻

I've seen some old farm spring house's up in VA but that one is by far the coolest one I have ever seen.
Definitely one of the coolest places we've seen just abandon like that in the woods not many people get to see it anymore. Awesome that it's still there. Thanks for watching

@@NickandRachel as always☺☺☺
Looks like I found a side trip while hiking the AT
Definitely! If you visit Gatlinburg you got to stop in and see it is pretty cool! Thanks for watching
It took us three hikes before we found the Fairy House. Amazingly easy one you know where to look. 😂
🤣 You're right! back then I didn't have any signs or anything pointing to it.
This was our first time trying to find it once we made it to the Bud ogle place we knew we went too far so we did some backtracking 🤣
We actually just put out a super simple version of this video about 2 minutes long for anybody who don't want to sit out there all day trying to look for it 🤣
wow
Thanks for watching
it's a spring house LIKE to get water from before they had indoor running water .. Fair house lol
Oh yeah we know what the spring House we've found several of them in the woods in different parts of Tennessee and North Carolina before. This one just looks unique and that's why it's nicknamed The House of the fairies.
Love the palette 👌🏼 What do you use to color grade?
Thank you! I use Premier Pro.
@@NickandRachel noice! Striking, but still v natural.
Thinks I try to bring out some colors but still leave that natural look to it. Thanks for noticing I appreciate you watching and commenting 🙂
My children won't be able to hike quite that far. Can I park at the Twin Springs Science Center and explore the Fairy House and Voorheis Estate from there? How far would that be to hike?
I don't think it's allowed to park at the science center but I guess when you go there you can fill it out for yourself. There is a public parking at the bottom of the road though.
And as far as the bud Ogle estate you can continue up the main road and it'll be on the right you don't have to hike to it you can actually drive straight to it. Hope that helps! If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload content like this weekly. Have a nice day 😊
Headed there soon. How long is the hike?
If you just drive up and park at the research center not far at all it's just right behind the barns. If you want to start at the bottom of Twin Creeks Trail and do the whole thing and come back to the research center it'll probably about 4 miles.
If you haven't already consider subscribing we upload videos like this weekly. Thanks for watching 🙂
@@NickandRachel thank you!
No problem 😊
May I see the waypoint for the House of Fairies in your Alltrails route? Where exactly did you park? There are more than one parking lot if it was not the actual Twin Creeks Trailhead. Thank you.
this isn't my route but it looks correct to me! if you're seeing the research buildings you could probably just pull up in that parking lot and park and you're going to walk behind those fences you see in the video and up the hill. hope that helps!
www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/twin-creeks-trail-fairy-house-cdaeb12
@@NickandRachel Thank you. There is only one way to find out.
@@all-in-onehealthylifestyle9436 you're welcome! If you watch that video and you find that Research Center there's no way you won't find it is pretty easy after that.
If you haven't already consider subscribing we're about to upload a follow-up video to our 6 hidden gems in the Smokies video. Six more awesome locations to find!
@@NickandRachel I passed the location and had a better idea. I was hiking a long distant strenuous beautiful route up to Mt. LaConte and down using Rainbow Falls and Grotto Falls big loop. Next time I will do this one for sure. I appreciate your feedback.
@@all-in-onehealthylifestyle9436 you're welcome 😊

Rachel really likes that pack fits her frame really well! What brand do you prefer?
@@NickandRachel I’m I Osprey all the way

It was really cool to see!
Where can u park?
We actually put up another video showing where you can park. There's several places in the area but in the video we show you the quickest way.
And the video is more detailed on finding the house of the fairies as well It's only like 2 minutes.
It's in our grace looking mountains national park playlist.
Is this in the USA?
Yes it is! it's in Gatlinburg Tennessee. Thanks for watching
Sweeet adventure! Always enjoy walking through history and the meetup with the family at the estate was super awesome! Cool find with the fairy house 🧚 Thanks for bringing us along ☺️🌲
