When I was a child, I dreamed of castles like this home. In our basement I’d use anything I could find to make my castle. My little sister and I would play for hours in our fantasy castle.
U can tell a story like no one else. I love the magic u put in every place u see. We appreciate ur insight when u do these tour. I can see why you were a reporter. Ur interpretation of everything u see is a wonder.
Now.......that is a place that would stir up my creativity! I know I got some. I loved all the sundry items built into the building, my own dragon!!!!!! Loved the built ins and the randomness....the colors. What's not to love?
I once came across a castle in of all places Southern California, I wrote a note and left it at the gate and told him how cool i thought this castle was, to my surprise i received a phone call from the owner that was hosting an old fashioned automobile "like 1930 club" and invited me to come.. it was amazing and amazing people.
Glad there's someone out there who is filming and taking pictures of our world today , finding the little places in America that most of us don't see. Someday it might be gone and it's now got a photo record. Keep on finding those hidden jems
You’ve brought us another treasure! 😍I believe the builder spent time in Spain during WWII, there is definitely influences from Guadi’s architecture found in Barcelona the construction, particularly the carved railings.
From what I remember it was actually Alaska. He took note of how they brought the thatched roofs curving UNDER the eves to protect from wind and water.
This Castle stands a testimony of the person's creativity from thrown away things & use them rightfully right places. The castle is awesome signature of his ability & imagination to create such beautiful fairy tale castle.!
Fantastic !! A Great video, it really makes me miss the road. Looking forward to getting back out there , like you, to see our country. Travel safe and keep up the excellent videos. 👍
@@CaseyRoman I've actually been out for over 18 mths. Back in Atl to help the kids with their move into the house they built. Then headed back out end of April. Have fun travel safe and if our journeys cross paths I'll buy the coffee. 😁
It is truly a stop and smell the roses journey you are taking us on. I absolutely love it. I am fascinated with each of your videos and smile when I see your post. 👏 👏 👏
Thanks for showing these castles in Fairhope. They are so close to downtown but nobody knows about them. I've been twice but not been inside either one. I'm happy they are giving tours now as well. Lovely little town.
I felt like i was back being a 6yr old child viewing this house.. The way a child sees something magical & wonderful & never questions its reality Thats how i feel seeing this! Just knowing it exists is wonderful! Id save up for a year just to visit it in real time To actually live in it...? Words wouldnt do justice to how that would be Id think id died & my creation of what my personal heaven would be, is this house The architecture & organic features remind me of Spanish Architect & painter/sculptor - Gaudi. Gaudi's buildings in Barcelona are jaw dropping & because i live in Britain, popping over to northern Spain for long weekends or holidays is easy Some of Gaudi's stuff is just amazing, the window frames in this house ( on vid) are very like his work There's a famous staircase & i think its in an apartment building In Barcelona which is used by the tenents daily & its so organic with twisting vines & the Epitome of Art Nouveau Im sure the chap who built this had seen some of Gaudi's work The lines & carving & shape Scream Gaudi, who was famous in his own time in 1880s France & Spain. Im saving this vid to keep watching because it has given me such immense pleasure Thank you dearly for this
Wow this was beautiful. Magical. Love it! I can't imagine growing up in this place. I think my dreams would have been bigger and I would have ended up in a completely different path in life 🥰
Your channel was suggested on my RUclips feed and wow ...you are Awesome! What a breath of fresh air ! Love your sense of humor, documentary style , etc. Thanks for the lovely video !
I live in Fairhope and have only seen this castle from the outside. It's grown since I moved here back in the 1980's. I'm retired from the Post Office and Dean often came into the PO. He's a very personable fellow.
When I saw the thumbnail, I was pretty sure I knew where this was! I grew up there and can vividly remember the first time I saw the castles. They’re just as magical in real life!
Wow, now that is truly unique!! I love the mosaic outer walls!! I would love to do that!! I really love this house, the builder actually had a bit of skill despite not having a set plan.
Awesome! I would definitely live in this castle. Gorgeous. Beautiful. Perfect! My son would also love it, especially since it's high enough that he wouldn't bean himself. 🤗
Somebody needs to wise up and hire you to bring back an "On The Road" segment like Charles Kuralt's. Wonderful work! So happy to see your subscriber #s shooting up too.
thank you Jim and Carla! that's the funny thing about working with networks and media companies (speaks from experience...) they offer lots of resources but you lose all your creative control.
Casey thank you so much for just traveling. Just sharing travels. For someone who's wanted to travel from the age of 16, due to the love of older homes or should I say gently used, not to mention history. I appreciate your efforts. One day soon I want to sell my home, build a van into a new home and see, learn and explore all the wonder of our country. If I'm smart and careful maybe eve ln other countries too! Keep on keepin us all happy with all your views, learning and experiences! Thanks again
OMG Casey..this may be your best video so far! I just loved that quirky castle. You inspire tp just wanting to hop in the car and go see this vision of creativity. Thank you so much.
This is so cool! I really wish that more people would build their own houses, being creative and expressing who they are and what they love in the design
Amazing story like everyone you bring us. Love how you take a beautiful place and add such a lovely backstory so that your viewers are just sucked into the piece.

Your eye for what made this country proud - Should make this country embarrassed. The few short weeks of your travels is proving to be calling of some type. Oh my gosh, how did you contain yourself? That was dreamy. I love the little heart shaped hand rail brackets on the circular staircase. Another badass video!
We are super creative and environmentally conscious. I'm disgusted by many ugly, cheap mcmansions and balled a "designer" out for putting plastic Pergo over vintage floor tiles. This house is exceptional and I loved what you had to say at the end.
It makes me smile just to know places like that exist.
