John, huge thanks for doing this video I've got the same VW auto camper. Had the same problem as you but I was missing the little plastic centre connecter after a nightmare trying to find one i had to make a new one from nylon. It's all back together now working great cheers Buddy
jamie walton hi Thanks for watching. I could not find anybody selling any part of the auto selector. New or used! I like to think our solutions add character👍🤣. Stay safe buddy. John
To The Garage hi john thanks for the message , regarding the auto gear selector mine was complete but I had to change the bulbs with ones from Halfords. My biggest problems is my van has been rebuilt and with that comes with a load of bodged jobs just like your petrol tank patch and electrical earth. At the moment I’m having to make some bottom tins for my type 4 engine somebody removed them ????? Hope all is well send me a FB request to James DK Walton and I’ll send you some pics. Starting on fitting my diesel heater next week, booked a holiday to do it ha ,
Funny, I just drove one I bought in California to Oregon about 1200 KM’s. There was a heat wave and I didn’t realize the heater was open so it was a very hot drive.
Thank you so much for doing this, was about to tackle the same job! Never thought about the flaps being equal in closing.. will check this. Were you bending the "screwdriver" piece or actually turning it?
Hi. Sorry for the delay in my reply M Sach . I twisted it its a crimped piece of tube rather than a solid bar so its relatively easy to rotate the crimped sections by a few degrees. Hope that helps Happy New Year. John
@@ToTheGarage Thanks John, did this as you suggested, and wow, what a difference. Zero wind coming in. Just in time for my winter camping. Thanks again!
i guess the bots latched onto the word "m-o.v,e-s" (added punct to make it less detectable hopefully) and added these reply with their hacked/bot accounts. totally unrelated reply. what they mentioned is probably a scamsite.
Anyone got a name for the parts for these? The rod on the inside of the cab on ours seems to have been robbed off a left hand drive vw and ours is RHD so it's the wrong way round I think but can't find any real info for it
Merci, I will go do that right now. From Canada !
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
How ever, the way to show it , is perfect ! and the way to do, also .
Thanks

Just purchased a '71 T2, the lever control inside behind the emergency brake, up or down for open ?

Curious if you can replace that piece that moves the slave flap ? Thanks!

Use EPDM self stick foam weatherstripping and it should last forever,
The perfect suggestion as always mr VanRemortel👍
Olives flaps look a bit rusty... i think there is a cream for that
Ooh err Missus. Saucy! 😉
