    Great video again, please keep them coming. We were there in May and saw several Caribou on the road in the park on the park bus. The buses stop and watch them and they have cameras on the bus with screens so you can see the wildlife up close on the screens. Our driver was amazing, he took as much time as possible when the animals were out on the road. We saw caribou, grizzle bears, porcupine, moose and dall sheep. Not as much open in May but a lot more snow on the mountains which was gorgeous.

    In the 70’s we drove the park road several times a summer and camped at the Wonder Lake Campground. With the Changing of the park name came the restrictions.

    My husband and I were lucky enough to get one of the passes to drive all the way into the park in August of 2020. It was basically the road lottery but all summer since there were no tourists. It was amazing! We saw so much wildlife. We lost count of how many bears we saw. One walked right by our truck, like we could have touched it it was so close. We stayed in our camper at Riley Creek. It was one of my favorite trips we’ve ever been on. There wasn’t much open but it was still amazing.
    Loved your caribou encounter. So cool!
    I think Adam needs a dog but I bet Missy wouldn’t be a fan of that idea. 😀

    Wow!!! The Caribou. How lucky to get to see them so close. Caribou is the one thing I didn't see in Denali. I hope they get the slide area fixed soon. It was there in 2019 but the busses could still get passed.
    Love the Fireweed earrings!!!

    Denali Road Lottery is open to everyone to enter. Not just Alaska residents. They draw 400 people per day for that three day period. And there is a military appreciation day in which military residents can enter. The next road lottery will be held in 2024.
    Since the fall shoulder season will actually be starting a week earlier this year in 2022 because there is no road lottery, highly suggest everyone try and make it out to drive their car to mile 30. The fall season in Denali is amazing with all the animals at their peak with coats and racks. Plus the fall tundra colors is stunning. It always starts the day after the buses stop running and closes when snow stops safe passage on the road.
    The road at Polychrome actually doesn’t exist at pretty rocks slide. It dropped over 50 feet now. The road won’t open past that point again until 2024. You can actually drive your private vehicles to mile 30 during the spring and fall shoulder seasons. Weather permitting.
    Fun fact. You can actually see the Nenana Glacier from the Denali Highway

    • @LeggLife
      @LeggLife  2 года назад

      Well, I guess we will wait until 2024 for the drive all the way in! We definitely want to try for the lottery once it’s back

      @@LeggLife from a geeky standpoint and since I have worked in construction, what they are going to do at the pretty rocks slide is pretty amazing. It’s going to be an incredible undertaking. Especially when it comes to logistics and all the backfill they will have to bring into that location.

    I love dogs too and I would spend just as much time petting the dogs! :) We have two dogs and the barking sled dogs got our dogs up and barking. lol I think our dogs we'd been invaded by some strange dogs or something since they started running towards the door, but I paused the video and they were barking and looking around. lol Dogs are great, well, not so much when you have a migraine and they are barking, but they love to cuddle when you're sick so I'll keep them. About 5 years after I was diagnosed with dysautonomia I had just the best service dog. He was super smart Aussie Shepherd/Lab mix who's internal need to herd was so prevalent that he would herd our kids into the corner. HAHA I would hear them yelling in the living room and walk in to see all 4 of them standing on one of the wood benches by our fireplace and Max pacing back and forth in front of the bench. Oh the picture I still have in my memory is going to be there forever. :)

      You know what’s funny, as I was editing this vlog and I got to the barking dog part, I actually wondered if that part would get the attention of any dogs who were around when the video was being played. Ha!

    Caribou yes! Still tbh the puppies were my personal fave if I had to choose… but thank goodness I don’t! Awesome vlog, thank you! Seeing how easy it is to visit Denali NP, it’s on my list for future adventures for sure.
    Just a funny wildlife note, my husband and 8-yr old daughter did a road trip to S Dakota from California once, I must’ve had to work & our teenage son wasn’t interested. Anyway, we’d been to the Wildlife Loop in Custer SP a bunch of times before (and since) and have seen mostly nothing but Prairie Dogs (which I do adore) & maybe a few buffalo. But this one time a giant buffalo herd crowded around the car so much it totally shook. My husband was fairly petrified but our daughter slept through it, and hasn’t forgiven her papa to this day for not waking her up (she’s 23 ;) ) Can’t rly blame him tho, srsly! Of course also no photos, sigh.

      Yes the tour buses that go into the park are wheelchair accessible with advanced purchase. They just need to know the wheelchair lift is needed so they can pull the correct bus from the bus storage depot before the tour.
