This watch is impressive on every level!! I have the white PRX that can also be seen in your video and I am very happy with it! Everyone should buy a PRX watch
Congrats on picking it up and I can understand why you find it hard to criticise. I felt the same when making the review and was desperately trying to find negative things to say so that my review didn't seem biased!!!
THank you for this video. I wanted to buy the PRX when it was released a years ago, but didnt like how it looks on my wrist (most because of how the bracelete makes the watch looks bigger). This PRX made of forgged carbon fiber looks so good to me that Im really thinking about buying it, algo se strap seems that doesnt make the watch look bigger as the bracelete does.
Love the new PRX in forged carbon. I wonder if the strap is the same width as the steel 40mm version as the forged carbon PRX is slightly bigger. I would love to put it on an orange rubber strap.
Something is off with your picture and sound. I guess the sync of image and sound is not perfect. Check you post. Makes it a struggle to watch. Beside that, great content. Thx for the vid!
Very informative, thank you! Though I'll probably go for the Sideral :) how did you get in touch with the people at Tissot if you don't mind me asking?
I haven't been hands on with the Colchester but there's a lot I like about it on paper - especially the recessed crown and the fact that it's COSC certified. I only wish they hadn't obscured the movement with the Parachute Regiment badge (even though it's a cool unit to be associated with).
@Escapement24 just by looks and what you know about the Colchester, what watch would you pick out of the two, . Tissot or c.w. lol it's hard I've still not picked yet..
Since forged carbon is essentially resin with carbon chunks and that the watch does not appear to have any coating, I wonder how vulnerable to scratches it is. Unlike its stainless steel counterparts, you can't have a badly scratched forged carbon watch re-finished!
You’re saying the movement is serviceable, but most likely only my Tissot and even then they’ll most likely toss it and replace it with a new unit. So which is it really ?
It's a bit of an open secret that outside of really complicated and vintage watches, the economics of actually servicing a watch just aren't there. There's a massive shortage of qualified watchmakers, so the lead times on services and repairs are massive. It's not just Tissot, I've heard rumours of brands up to the Tudor range and beyond just outright chucking movements. Beyond that, the main issue with the Powermatic80 compared to the base sellita movement is that to streamline production Swatch made some of the sub-assemblies drop in casette components. So, fundamentally, yes, you can take apart and service a Powermatic80, even if some of the parts are designed to just be replaced as sub-assemblies, however Swatch doesn't really like to give out parts to independent watchmakers, so you can struggle to find people who can work on the movement. It's like you can technically have your Powermatic80s recalibrated. However you need to have a proprietary machine to do it. And only Swatch really has those machines. So until the patents expire and 3rd party suppliers can fill the gap, it can be a struggle to service the movement. That said, it's a pretty bombproof movement, so /shrug
At this price point and if you get 10 years of enjoyment and reliable running out of it, does it really matter? As I understand, Omega uses Delrin in some of its movements, which is a plastic compound, as does Zenith. It's known for being extremely hard wearing.
Actually just checked and the higher end version of the PM80 used in this watch does NOT use any synthetic/plastic parts. The lower end versions (e.g. as used in the Blancpain x Swatch) use a plastic pallet fork and balance wheel.
@@Escapement24 well, I like to know what I am getting. and I think, especially when it’s about hyped stuff, you got to look at the whole thing. you gotta be critical. quality will last anyway. I just don’t think it’s enough to only see the good side eeeverybody is crazy about. like every patek has an „issue“ I guess. and yes, I think the prx is worth the money
@Escapement24 Thanks. I'm torn on the sizing. The PRX 40mm with the bracelet was too large on my 6.5" wrist. Does the rubber strap make a difference? I don't like the oversized look on my wrist
@Escapement24 do you think this carbon case with a orange or white strap would stand out too much? I like the idea of a sport watch but don't want the attention of let's say, a Tsar Bomba wrist presence
Great video, Simon! Hands on is the only way to do a review. I hope that as channel grows you’d be able to get more pieces in for a review. It just shows what a brand can do with Swatch power behind it. Forged carbon case, and silicon spring for under 1k. It’s safer for Swatch to experiment with lower tier brands before bringing innovations upmarket. Cheers! 🥃
Can someone explain to me why this is 50% more expensive? To my knowledge, „forged carbon“ is basically leftovers (trash) from carbon fiber production mixed with resin either pressed in to dyes or CNC milled and then given its fancy marketing name that makes it sounds super high end. It does not have the strength of carbon fiber. I habe the feeling thag machining a stainless steel watch + bracelet should be more expensive than this rubber band forged carbon model. I really like the looks I have to admit though!
It's around 30% more than the steel version. Forged carbon watch cases have to have a steel "core" or frame under the carbon shell, so it's a more complex construction. The shell is relatively inexpensive to produce but the tooling for the moulds is expensive and I believe there's a high failure rate, which I guess has to be factored in to the overall cost. But undoubtedly some of the extra cost will be because they feel it can be sold for a premium over the steel version.
Once the novelty hype-dust has settled and impulse buys have added yet another unnecessary accessory to the collection, the used market places will reveal the losses of which the patient shall gain.
Yeah, that actually exists and it’s made by Zenith and countless other high-end brands who offer integrated case designs. The PRX is an affordable, gateway watch which is why it’s been such a hit.
Got my PRX Carbon Yesterday. After 48 hours, nah, not worth it; for a black design, it's too many sparks, and it cheapens the look. An open case back doesn't make sense, and there is nothing to look at. Make it black, and it will be a different story. I don't like polished indices or polished date windows. It's just not working for me. The build quality is decent, but in general, It feels like a toy watch. So, this watch is going back to tissot
No disrespect, but how many watches have you Said you might buy with your own money, then never bought v ones you did and still own? It's playground talk 👦
Well I'm pretty sure I said in my video about the white dial PRX that I was tempted to buy that and I did add one to my collection a few weeks later. Not sure if I said it in a playground but it's possible 🤔🤣
Nothing to do with Brexit, despite what you'd love to blame it on. We have higher taxes and Britain is and has always been expensive for everything. It's the same price, or slightly less on average, than in other European markets. 1/5 for effort.
If you got 1 thousand dollars buy a casio for $25 and bank the rest. 10 year battery life with 20bar water protection. No servicing required and it even has a backlight.
PRX is an awful watch IME. PVD = It will scratch through to the silver and look real bad. Why Tissot do not man up their awesome Gentleman is plain weird. All brushed, no date, three fold clasp with tool less micro adjust 😎
This watch is impressive on every level!! I have the white PRX that can also be seen in your video and I am very happy with it! Everyone should buy a PRX watch
I’ve been so close on numerous occasions to buy the Tissot Sideral… until this PRX showed up!🥰🤣👍🏼
Same!! I really liked the Sideral when I reviewed it, mainly because of the carbon case. Now I'd take the PRX.
I´ve had the watch for 3 weeks now and have nothing bad so say. Love the look and the feeling while wearing it. Great video!
Congrats on picking it up and I can understand why you find it hard to criticise. I felt the same when making the review and was desperately trying to find negative things to say so that my review didn't seem biased!!!
Definitely my next purchase! Great for day-to-day use!
Love my 35mm gold auto, it truly screams "buy a used car from me" in the best possible way
Similar tastes. It's the angles of the Zenith and PRX cases that get me.
Yeah Im gonna get this thanks to your review. Good stuff.
You convinced me to buy this piece. Thank you!
Does that make me "an influencer"? 🤣
Here make it easier. Wear a Fitness watch when you work out or do an activity. When you're finished. Put on the everyday watches. That's what I do.
THank you for this video. I wanted to buy the PRX when it was released a years ago, but didnt like how it looks on my wrist (most because of how the bracelete makes the watch looks bigger).

Looks great. I have one on order from my dealer. Carbon fiber seems to be a thing now.
Excelente review, saludos desde Colombia.....
Nice review, thanks.
🙏🙏🙏
Nice video Simon,I like the PRX,personally prefer steel model but I'm sure that carbon one will sell.
Looks very nice…. Im a Tissot fan but the PRX havnt catch me… but this could be the one. I like the Power80 its a good movement
You should try the white strap with the carbon fiber case! Just to see how good it look with a contrast color.
first review in deed cool watch.
First actual hands on review…was hoping you would put the white strap on the new model, that would really show the forged carbon😮
It crossed my mind but as it only comes with the black strap I thought this might confuse people 👍
@@Escapement24would it even fit? The forged carbon case has slightly different dimensions
very good video! left a like and a sub👍🏼
Thanks so much! 🙏👍
I think I still prefer the Sideral!
Like it! Might wait for the Ali express version with better lume though!!! 😂
Great video! Seems like a pretty cool watch!
Thanks dude! 🙏
Fantastic video brother 👏 I love this release ❤
Thanks Miguel! Yeah I think Tissot have done a great job here 👌
@@Escapement24 💯
If I see one in person, it may be an impulse buy.
Tissot, could we have a forged carbon bracelet to go with this next?
That watch looks so good! Just wish it didn't cost as much 😔
It has plastic parts inside in the movement. For 995$ us price I decided to pass on it. Honestly it’s a really nice watch but it’s not for me
@ralphperez8522 my understanding is that it uses the top grade Powermatic 80 which doesn't have any plastic parts (lower grade versions do)
I hope there is a market for it in 35mm, automatic, of course.
I love the PRX but I cant stand how thin the indicies are. I wish they'd increase them to modern datejust demensions.
Beautifull watch do you know if its coming in 35mm?
I picked up ice blue but hate the bracelet. Changed it with a deluge strap
Yeah the bracelet links don't articulate enough IMO
Love the new PRX in forged carbon. I wonder if the strap is the same width as the steel 40mm version as the forged carbon PRX is slightly bigger. I would love to put it on an orange rubber strap.
I should've tried the strap from my white 40mm while I had the carbon sample, but from memory the size of the lugs looked identical
I have a quartz PRX too, I shall buy this one too. In Sha Allah. It's a beauty.
Insha allah
The tissot prx is the only watch I actually see in the wild tbh
Gotta meet some more people. I've seen speedys, subs, panerais out there.
Something is off with your picture and sound. I guess the sync of image and sound is not perfect. Check you post. Makes it a struggle to watch. Beside that, great content. Thx for the vid!
I think quartz in this one would be even better to fully capitalise on the weight savings.
doesn't the rubber strap feel kinda cheap? i just would like to know.
It doesn't to me
good video
how about if they made carbon (not forged) quartz one, wonder how that’d do
How is the legibility for older eyes, at different angles?
My nearsight is awful (I have to wear glasses to read messages on my phone 🙈) but I had no problems with legibility on this
Very informative, thank you! Though I'll probably go for the Sideral :) how did you get in touch with the people at Tissot if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks! 🙏 I've been in contact with the Tissot PR team for a while - I think I originally sent an enquiry through the website and they responded
@ thank you once again, and keep up the good videos!
Its this watch or c.wards Colchester that im split between, what do you prefer?..
I haven't been hands on with the Colchester but there's a lot I like about it on paper - especially the recessed crown and the fact that it's COSC certified. I only wish they hadn't obscured the movement with the Parachute Regiment badge (even though it's a cool unit to be associated with).

Purely going by looks I prefer the Tissot, but looks are only half the story! It's a tough choice but I think either would be a solid choice
@Escapement24 cheers.
What in the Zenith is going on here??
This in 35mm would be hard to resist

What is your wrist size?
Between 6.25" - 6.5"
