- We exploring the beaches, the rugged coastline and a medieval town of central Portugal in this weeks video.
Hi everyone, we are Steve & Margot, a retired couple who sold up and bought a 20 year old motorhome to live and travel in, full time.
Having escaped the rat race we go in search of memories and adventure suited to an older couple.

Great video! We are senior wannabe nomads. Trying to muster up the courage to go on the road. We do enjoy some adventures in our own province in Canada but we feel Europe beckoning us.

When we say the location where we are in the video, then we also put the 'What3Words' location, in red, at the bottom of the screen.
You can get the exact location from that.

How are the electric bikes doing?
Great castle and defences.
Love the beach and rocky outcrop too.
Puts Britain to shame yet again.
Bikes have been great... No problems at all.
Charge the Jackery when driving and use that to to charge to bike batteries up.
We use them all the time, especially when we're a few miles outside a town.
I added some large panier bags to mine, which really helps if we need to get provisions.
Unfortunately we're years behind Europe. Rip Off Britain again.
Abroad they welcome vans and motorhomes and do everything in their power to make it easy for you.
We park for free in areas when it wont cause a nuisance, then go and spend the money in town.
When will we ever realise eh..?!!!!!

just wondered how is your battery and solar are getting on with staying off grid and did you take your petrol generator with you just in case?

Solar has been working well. Helps that there's a lot of sunshine to harvest as well!
At the moment we are managing about 5-6 good days totally off grid.
However, I am finding that our demand is slightly higher than the rate of which it can be topped up.
Battery power is fine, just that if we get a cloudy day it just depletes more and I go lower a lower.
Specifically for us it's the water heating. If we both have showers and also heating the washing up water, that's just too much and within 2-3 days we are down to 25%!
I shall be addressing that problem when I get back to the UK..

Do you use the toll roads ? Wondered if Portugal Toll roads have pay points like France
Hi,
Yes, we used a few toll roads.
You need to register with Portugal Tolls on line and link a credit card to you registration number first.
This is very important and you must do this first. There's big fines if you don't....
Then everything is automatic as you pass though toll points/booth.
They have signs saying you are approaching a toll point so you have a chance to leave the road or carry on.
