I'm going to find out what it means, but a video from you would be great, to repair it. NOTE: You are the only person that said to use the "paint can opener" to release the spring/wire gasket & it worked so easily. Other videos required 1 or 2 flat screwdrivers, but not yours! Can't thank you enough. I have never done a repair on any appliances in my 71 years. Just need to figure out what F dl means...
Thanks for posting. This is my second time in two years dealing with the DL error code. I replaced this current door lock in November of 2014. If you need to use your machine and this code appears, try unplugging power to the washer (in my case overnight ) then plug the power in and try a cycle. This worked for me both times the DL code appeared. However, this will only work a couple of times before the door lock fails completely.

I have a Kenmore Elite HE3T that stopped working. It had finished a previous wash cycle. Then went to start another and would not start, no lights, nothing. Any ideas where to start?
It was because of this video that I decided to replace our door latch. I purchased the part from a local parts dealer for $85. The removal was easy, installing the latch was easy. Quick note: There is a plastic bracket on the latch which holds some wires away from the drum. This bracket is removed by sliding the bracket up and out of the way. The bracket was easy to re-install by the way. Don't forget this step. When replacing the rubber boot it REALLY helps to have someone help you to keep everything in place. Take your time replacing the wire clamp. The rubber boot MUST stay in place. Once you realize the clamp has a spring on it you will realize to stretch the clamp a LITTLE to make it easier to install. Have the second person hold the boot and clamp in place while getting the rest of the clamp installed. By the way: Our washer works great now. We were looking at replacing the washer. Instead we spent around $90.

A week later, it was back to not working. He said he didn't know why it would suddenly not work (I think he thought I was crazy because he didn't' see any problems). Hundreds of dollars later, this seems to have been the best fix. And FREE! Thank you -- super easy to fix thanks to you.
i had the same issue and replaced the DL 2 or 3 times.!!!! I found another video on youtube about "it's not the DL", it's the wires on the "control panel" i think he called it. there are about 3 pink wires with male connectors that go to this panel and usually i just jiggle them and the thing starts working again. the washer is in he off mode and just try pressing the cycle and start buttons. You will have to take off the lid to get to the wires. Once you open the lid, the wires are on the back left side. sometimes i take the connectors off and spread the connectors on the panel to make a more snug fit for the female connectors. this happens often on this model. my next step is to replace the "control panel".
So I did all this exactly and NOW I'm still getting the same code like I did nothing to it.

What if it's licking but unlocks during the cycle? Does that piece still need to be replaced or is it something else?

Just break down and buy a better washing machine, this is just an over priced piece of junk, the one i got on Craigslist for 50 bucks works way better
I for sure have this error, but it won't open once this error come on F dl. Is this the problem still, because you say that it won't lock?

i had a soclk in my HE3T pulled it out and cleaned it out now i get SUD code did a diag. on it spins but drains weak.. any sugestions
