Actually his skills in kickboxing is disappointing as a world class level.

You can see where the heads collide in that first knockdown of the 2nd round at around 2:11, playing it in 0.25 or 0.5x makes it even more apparent. With this type of clash, you are going to see this type of swelling happen a lot immediately afterwards. You might argue that his style itself creates more opportunities for heads to clash, but I don't think he would necessarily be prone to this type of injury, just unlucky to have it happen.

This fight was surprising to watch and see the outcome. Initially, I thought that Cyril was done after several knockdowns. However, his resilience proved to reveal him to be a pretty good fighter. He took some really good shots but also gave some good blows that resulted in Banner's obvious hematoma. The size difference of the two fighters was apparent as well as the weight behind the punches given by both men. I will admit, I believe Banner won this fight but, it was NOT an easy win. He walked away with the gift of swelling which needed medical attention. Bottom line...good fight!

Hard to believe that these fighters are in the same weight class. Le Banner looks much bigger and stockier, and it's obvious that he's stronger. Abidi has incredible heart and one hell of a chin but is physically outmatched right from the start.

Everything above 90 or is it 95kg is just same weightclass.. But yea it's not just about weight honestly, especially in K1 size is more important, Semmy Schilt proved that. I know you don't need to weigh 130kg to deliver very hard punches. Look at Deontay Wilder for example, pretty skinny guy.

Was it Michael Cera from Superbad(2007) on the ring?

Not even the Fist of the North Star technique works against Le Banner.

Jerome Le Banner is one of my favourite kick boxers of all time but I have to say his chin isn’t the best. He has been ko’d a few times, although admittedly it was by the best of the best. Ernesto Hoost 3x, Peter Aerts, Rey Sefo and Mark Hunt. His body can definitely take any kind of beating though. Built like a f’ing tank!
