that over compression on the sides of the 55mm is borderline unuseable. Kudo's to Blazar tho for bringing this to market. I hope they add a S35 on the wide end that covers 18mm sensor height.
I have waited on buying my first anamorphic lens but I'm finally ready. Now the decision is the Remus or Cato. I feel like the Remus makes more sense on my S5II but I kinda want all the character and flaws of the Cato. 🤔
Am I wrong or the borders of the 55mm behaves strangely and the pendule (of Foucault ?) seems stretched on the left and very narrow when reaching the left border …
I'm leaning towards the remus set. these are cool but I like the image from the classic 2x scope when compared. These seem a little more exaggerated compared to 1.5 remus but not as exaggerated as the old vintage scopes. Interesting lens set.
Can you buy this camera and remove the in built lens , expose the sensor and mod it in a way to accept c-mount lenses..or even crazy to adapt crop sensor lenses ruclips.net/user/shortserz7fCRZu3Q?si=Yv8TnWbajWUPjfzf
I just wrapped a feature film shot on the DZO PAVO. I was really impressed by these lenses.
What's the name
I definitely want a set of Pavo’s, gorgeous lenses. Ordered the Cato’s in the meantime though, excited to get them!!
I actually really liked the character of these lenses, I am impressed
In a couple generations I expect these to be very impressive
Have you seen the video on the viltrox 28mm f4.5 where someone attached an IPhone anamorphic adapter onto the lens? Looks really interesting.
let me check that, that seems crazy
@@MathieuStern The Channel’s name is ALT CINE and the whole setup costs only $125, covers full frame and autofocus’s up to 15ft.
@@MathieuStern imagine a $125 fullframe pancake anamorphic lens. crazy to think about :”) he had test footage that looked pretty good too!
. So it's af does not work and you can only use iPhone? What's the point?
@@unbroken1010 it’s AF works. what are you talking about?
The way a person warped shape as they walked into frame at 7:27 was really distracting
My dream anamorphic setup would be crystal sync 16mm camera plus a 1.8x zoom lens so I can get a 2.40:1 aspect ratio.
Would you suggest these or their 1.5 squeez Remus series for a 16:9 camera like the FX3 and A7S III?
Are the Cato sharper than the Remus?

I love the look of these lenses but...what about lens breathing? Can we have that test too?
great video as always!
Where is this place ?

the Catos will give you a more subject separation, but the Remus will give you a more easy to use experience
@@MathieuStern Head says Remus, heart says Cato.

its more the position of the camera, both sides are really stretched
Now THAT'S impressive.
This is mind-blowing
The wobbling from the post stabilization was too distracting, but the steady ones was a good demonstration
does it come from stab in post or is it the distortion of the lens does anyone know?
@@Sanjay_Noah_Rai 100% post stabilization. Warp stabilization in premiere or something

Whats the usecase? I feel like if you would go anamorphic one would have some budget and rent some nicer lenses anyways.
The result feels so fuzzy, in a good way.
Jokes on you, I still can’t afford to buy. Gotcha!
Take my Money !!

maybe worth getting for BW films but that colour is nasty
Wow ok
