It makes me so angry that all the government says is prayers to the family and no real change. We need mandatory free therapy for all minors in hopes to prevent stuff like this. We need to do more.

The average citizen should not have guns,gun stores should not sell guns to those without proper permits whom have jobs requiring them such police force,army soldiers,swat etc

The hands shaking of the students after they were rescued and the mothers continuously kissing they’re children killed me on the inside. I could NOT imagine. Much love to all of them :(
Watching this as an Australian, one thing that stood out to me was the text from one of the mothers: "Remember the drills"
America has an absolutely horrifying problem, and although I'm sure that the drills and procedures that schools have implemented have saved many lives, the fact that they are even needed at all is deeply disturbing. You are training your kids for the day that their school may be assaulted, which must be a horrifying thought that every kid thinks about every day.
I hope that this problem is resolved, and that the US comes to its senses.
It wont ever change. Because people love their guns more then they do the children of this country. And those people have the money and power to keep guns in the hands of every American who shouldn't have one. To them, Guns represent a power they desperate want to feel like they have and people are just a replaceable number.

These tragedies are going to keep occuring unless the school system has some serious reforms and mental health treatment becomes more available. Seizing guns will lead to more bloodshed than a century of school shootings, which is not what anyone wants.

This is why every time I hear a loud noise that sounds like a gun at my school I just have the most anxiety I ever had IN MY LIFE..
I’ve never been through one of these horrible situations and I never wish to be in a position of these poor innocent souls. RIP to the kids and teachers we lost. I pray to those families to the victims and everyone that had to live with that trauma for life.

I had already graduated when columbine happened...it's ridiculous what teenagers have to deal with now just to go to school. It's not the fault of guns but of the mentality that when you are unhappy with your life to go and murder innocent people. Prayers for all those who passed and those who survived that have to live either ptsd. If you need help please reach out to someone.

Its the fault of other teenagers. And society, most people call people that say the world is superficial, and nobody cares about each other, delusional, but when things like these happen and the marriage rates, and kids not feeling comfortable in school, not due to shooting incidents by in general. And they still dont wake up, that's when school shooters happen, and honest to god, at this point I am disgusted with myself to not care anymore,
It will only become more and more frequent, uvalde, more to come and people dont realize it has nothing to do with anything but society becoming more and more superficial, its about looks, its about status, nobody is genuine anymore. The problem is when a majority grow up in the same society how are they to even comprehend that how they act, how they love, how they care isn't love, or caring but something superficial.
And then the ones that haven't grown up in a bubble in society can see how digusting people are turning everyday, and many call it unable to fit in, but its the case of not wanting to fit in to the superficial world.
There are just cases where the most vurlneable see no option out other than take revenge on what they deem as superficial people, which they are but that never deserves death. That's where they get it wrong.

This is genuinely a sad tragedy I’ve ever heard about. I couldn’t imagine the students’ PTSD, and I really hope that the wounded are safe.

I wasn’t afraid of my 15 year old brother’s (who goes to Page) safety until now.

I have been through a shooting before, luckily no one died and it wasn't in a school, but it was right outside of my house I was so scared, so I can't imagine what these kids are feeling right now, this is my biggest fear, I can't imagine myself in this situation, this world is so cruel 😭.

I can understand how terrifying school shootings are, as I was in one in fourth grade, and we were all scared and a kid was crying for his mom, and I felt so bad bad for him.
Going to school and witnessing and being a victim to something as horrible as this will always be one of my biggest fears. So tragic

4 and a half years later and this tragedy is still horrific to think about. so many innocent lives taken. the trial and sentencing almost made me forget there were actual survivors. I cannot imagine the horror of learning my loved one's life is actively in danger and there's nothing I can do aboutit. very relieved that at least those families were not destroyed.

My cousin was in the building when this happened, my other cousins where at schools nearby and I remember the fear that I felt watching this. The fact that lockdown pull stations don’t exists in these buildings is somewhat scary, it should be as common place and commonly known as fire alarms

I get so terrified of my little brothers going to school now. One of them in elementary school and the other in high school. I started even telling my high school brother to carry pepper spray or something to protect himself because I'm so afraid. I have no idea what would happen if I lost them. I can't imagine how parents and other siblings feel when this actually happened to them. I can't even do anything except for vote and send prayers. I hate this country.
As someone who went through a school lockdown, I know the fear, thankfully it was a prank and it only lasted 3 hours. But those 3 hours, cramped in a computer room full of kids joking around until screams and gunshots were heard and everyone suddenly weren't laughing anymore. That. That was traumatizing

I remember recently, in one of my classes, a classmate made a school shooting joke. The teacher got real quiet and looked at him with one of the most pained expressions I've ever seen. My school, to this day, has never had a shooting (thank the lords). But apparently, a long time ago, my teacher was teaching a class at my school(no surprise, I know). Think: its silent in the classroom. Maybe a few coughs and whispers go through the room as the students are doing assignments. Then you hear a phone ping. My teacher, whose heavily against phones, eyed the student with a glare. The student doesn't get to do anything, as another ping sounds. Then another. And then more phones are pinging, and they get pinged over and over, until atleast 2/3 of the students are on their phones. I'm not sure what school shooting this was, as I doubt it was Parkland since the school times don't match my school, but it was in the state of Florida (no specific year was given either). But whatever shooting this was, it had students, many MANY students texting their friends from other schools. My teacher cancelled the lesson that day, and let the students talk to and try to comfort their friends (whilst at the same time, my teacher tried to provide comfort for her students). The messages were mostly Snapchats, my teacher seemed to notice. My teacher did not make a phone call, as when the idea arose, it was quickly shot down because the police were apparently "already on their way". I think about how she described it and that terrified me. The students from the school shooting were sending frickin videos of an active shooting, injured people, to her classmates. She was reluctantly shown most of the ones recieved. I can just imagine how terrifying that must've been, and how she described it just shocked me...

i just went through a false alarm active shooter call at my school about a week ago. this terrifies me to think that if it wasnt a false alarm i probably would've gone through this and theres a chance i wouldn't have made it out alive. its terrifying, makes me want to go back to homeschooling. i hope everyones okay :(

I go to that school. When i first saw the classrooms, i didn't recognize it. When i saw the auitorium, i know this was my school for sure. I was in 8th grade when this happened, so 1 year until i was in high school. I currently graduated last year, and it's heartbreaking that my middle school had a threat that blew up multiple school buses, AND my high school had shootings. Very heartbreaking
