Great kudos to BMW M for producing a car that from the reported torque band gives easy access to all/most of its power across the rev range and seems like it will be stunning on both road and track

I'd prefer this to the E60 anytime. Even to the E39, and that was the greatest M5 ever in my book.
@nacnac I respect your comment. I drive a G35 which is a fast car to normal people but if I drove an M6 or an M5 i'd most likely feel impressed with the car as it is a lot quicker than what I am used to. They are probably in the same boat. But, there is definitely added glitz and glamour to the car but this is BMW's video...

@TheGarvito An M5 carries 5 persons not four and COMFORTABLY!! Not squeezed together in the back seat so the driver can sit relax. An M5 is just like any family car but when you want it it becomes a sports car, its more practical for everyday use with with its comfort and efficiency. A gtr is made for the track and its where it should be driven.

if you think the nurburgring doesn't look dangerous - have you driven it?
if not, suggest to all that you do asap - outstanding, exciting (and frightening) place, with in most areas no run offs
where else in the world is there a track with massive changes in elevation and almost no sight lines that is over 20 km long - those guys must have had a blast - Claudia Huertgen is a seriously quick driver who has won the 24 hrs there...
only a BMW can b this awesome....lovin it...

My friends.. If people have to demand what the Nurb is, then let them remain ignorant. Self learning should be intuitive, many people don't know how to learn. Teach them to help themselves.

BMW engineering is incredible... specially when they use the M sauce.
If the 760 is like hell there, I cannot imagine how the M5 will perform there!! Cant wait!

@ jjlwiz.... yes indeed my friend. The E60 sounds like no other and they will never be no other like it. love the F10 but the E60 will be the most unique BMW M5 ever built. people are not realizing how unique that car is... even when compared to ALL THE SEDANS IN THE WORLD!

@besttyler In the UK thats 73K EUROS, which is about 100K USD. With options it will be over 100K easily. I thought I remembered reading it would be about 118K somewhere. There's no way the new M5 will cost 90K because that's about what the e60 M5 costed. With all the new technology and performance of the F10 M5 it should easily exceed 100K USD.

@wacky0pker The last two generations of M5's sold around 40,000 units. Considering the current generation 5 series is selling like hotcakes everywhere in the world - this new M5 is likely to eclipse all previously sales.

gosh i wish i could drive any of the M serie bmw on a real pro race track :( it already kinda my dream to do this with my little civic type-r so i just cant imagine with this beast... People who dont understand the feeling just dosent like to drive :P

@brandontoscano Depends on the country. Base price in the UK is 73k way less than you listed, the first one that arrived in Turkey was listed for 270k euro but that's only because its the first one, and all the others in turkey will be under 100k. The base price in Germany is 100k euro. I don't know from where you got the 120k price? Maybe from your dreams...

@TheGarvito A gtr doesn't weigh 2 tons, can't carry 5 passengers comfortably with a trunk full of luggage and can't get the mileage the M5 has. But I agree with you, a gtr would beat it around the track and I don't know which one I would choose.
@TheNanosam That goes for every sports car. Only super cars keep their price ( ferraris/lambos/etc)

@ Booooed The E39 is a great car, but I'll take the E60 M5 all day. The F10 brings back agressive and ellegance back, but i believe will lack the exhiliration of the E60 and the amazing sounds of a naturally aspirated V10 that BMW will never make again

@wacky0pker I can't read peoples minds but I'd be willing the majority of people (specifically owners of a previous M5) would be extremely interested in an all expenses paid trip to Germany to drive the brand new M5 on one of the most iconic tracks in the entire world. But hey that's just me.

@nacnac Marketing glitz aside I don't think they're hinting at cancer cures or pyramid building aliens in this video but perhaps I missed something. Until you drive the new M5 your armchair judgement, "it isn't that special" based on the single 550Hp figure is rather myopic. Remember this new M5 has a huge increase in low end torque compared to your M6 and previous M5 as well as a bevy of other improvements over the previous generation.
Please tell me where this beautiful country road to Green Hell from 3:04 is.

fuck me if this isn't the sexiest M5 ever.
This must be a very good car, but if I had chose I'd prefer a '01,'02 or '03 e39 M5...you know manuals are more fun to drive, and the e39 weighs less as well. Due it the V10 engine the e60 its my second favourite M5, but in Europe stick shift versions are extremely rare. I think the e39 and e60 will always be the best m5s BMW ever produced...I don't believe that any newer version to come will be as much fun. They will be too heavy, and technically too complex.
@costellom5 I was really thinking the same.... if this is the clientele of the new M5 then it became simply nothing else than another kind of AMG status symbol car for the suits with money who don't really look like the one who could really use the potential of the car..
