There are and have been some fantastic guitarists across all genres of music, but, Dave Gilmour just has this natural ability of playing with so much raw emotion and meaning, and for me he's by far the best there's ever been.

On an emotional level, there is no better or greater guitarist than Gilmour. His guitar is an additional voice, singing. Also great composition. But of course there are shredders who are able to do stuff Gilmour can´t. So the answer is Yes and No alike, because it depends on the angle of view. For me personally, he´s the GOAT, because nobody is able to copy him.

On the Fourth of July 1970, Jimi Hendrix played Star Spangled Banner for us at Atlanta Pop Festival wearing that very guitar strap! Gilmour's wife gave it to him as a birthday present. She bought it from the Hendrix Trust. Imagine what that strap must be worth!! My eyes actually water the music so beautiful, and of course seeing that strap again is wonderful. Seeing Rick is heartbreaking.

David Gilmour owned a house close to where I was working in West London, early 90s, he would visit the local pub after work just like the rest of us, no Superstar status, have a few drinks, read a newspaper, engage in a conversation, but most of the time nobody bothered him, just a normal human being relaxing, some years later he gave the house to a children´s charity, which even back then was valued at Four Million pounds, Yup! that guy in the jeans and T shirt.

You are absolutely right, Guy Pratt on the bass has been playing with Pink Floyd since the second half of the 80's. And of course, Richard Wright on the keyboards. He was already sick at the time, and I do believe that this was his last concert. The rendition of the piece Echoes is particularly moving because of it.
    Thank you for this one.

there's a 24 minute song, called Echoes, in this concert. it's an epic journey. an emotional journey. you'd love it, although you might just find it a little overwhelming. it's my favourite version of this song. a true experience. something otherworldly, even by Pink Floyd's standards.

I 1000% second this. Some other Gilmour solo gems are Short & Sweet, So Far Away, Murder, Let's Get Metaphysical, The Blue and (live at either Gdansk or from the Remember That Night DVD), Rattle That Lock, 5am, In Any Tongue, A Pocketful Of Stones, Where We Start, Take A Breath, Faces Of Stone, And Then..., and Until We Sleep.

@roballen5718 Definitely agree! The studio version is great and has almost a dream state quality to it, but personally, I prefer it live (which applies to the whole of the album), from the Remember That Night DVD. It feels like it breathes a little bit easier, and the guitar work throughout that whole show is sublime and vintage Gilmour.

Try the song "The Blue" from the same concert and the same "On an Island" album!!! It's slightly slower and just as beautifully done!!!
The three people from the Pulse concert that are here are David Gilmour of course, then you have "Guy Pratt" on base, and last "Richard Wright" on the keyboards and this was his last concert tour which was done in 2006 and unfortunately Richard passed away in 2008!!!
Also this is the LAST concert ( in Gdansk) ever where David Gilmour played "Echoes" because he won't play it without Richard being there and it's an incredible version of Echoes, you should react to it as well!!!

He has 2 solo albums, the first was in 1978, self-titled David Gilmour. The second was in 1984, About Face. Both albums were done while he was still in Pink Floyd too.

Simply because I like them more & I love live albums, but I was zeroing in on just his solos, not solos & Floyd mixed together, like at Gilmour concerts. And, the first album I mentioned was On An Island, my favorite of his solo work. I mentioned The Blue & Smile (both on the On An Island album).

Another great reaction to a timeless talent. You will never get any push back reacting to David Gilmour/Pink Floyd. Richard Wright (keyboards) and Guy Pratt (bass) are Floyd members. Phil Manzanera (guitar) is from Roxy Music, Steve DiStanislao (drums) is from Crosby and Nash and Jon Carin (keyboards) has toured with David for decades. All are stud musicians and all can sing. This concert like all is epic. A must see is Echoes from this concert. It's the last time David and Richard play this song together before Richard's passing. Anyway, you guys are great and I encourage you to do more from this concert as well as David's Rattle That Lock tour Live at Pompeii from 2016. He's 70 at this time and it's fantastic.

"Everything in life makes sense when you listen to David Gilmour." That is the best description I've heard of David Gilmour. Bravo...! I was fortunate enough to attend the Pink Floyd Pulse tour in 1994 and it changed how I look at music forever. That experience completely changed how I look at music, whether it's country, rock, blues, etc. There are plenty of guitarists out there who are better technically than Gilmour, but if you want emotion played with each note, there is no one better.

I strive to watch all the reaction videos done to Pink Floyd...all the reactions are pretty much the same: speechless awe, and utter amazement at the soul-stirring talent and the absolute ability to reach right into your insides and touch every nerve to your heart. But, out of all the different reactions on RUclips, I especially LOVE watching your reactions to any PF track; your honesty and love for the sounds you hear are genuine, and make the watcher (as well as the listener) enjoy your reactions all that much more. I hope to see you react to many more of the Pink Floyd live concert videos. Thank You for making me feel a little less 'silly' for allowing this music to astound me to the point of speechlessness.

Great reaction as always! Just FYI: with David from the Pulse concert were Richard Wright (kybds), founder member of Pink Floyd, and Guy Pratt (bass) who has played bass with Pink Floyd/David Gilmour since 1987. By the way, I was at the Pulse concert and I was completely wiped out by it. I've never seen a better live event, nor expect to again.
Also: you say that perhaps one requires a certain level of maturity to listen to music like this. I understand what you mean, but I was listening to Pink Floyd in 1970 when I was eleven and understood it perfectly. But then...in those years we did listen to complex music at a young age, and somehow "got it". I think it's because, back then, we were surrounded by, and immersed in, music of pure genius. It was the era of progressive rock, which broke new boundaries daily, and which was played by virtuoso musicians like Gilmour/Pink Floyd, but also bands like Yes (now that's a band you simply must listen to, but NOT their commercial 80s years - it has to be 70s Yes), Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson and many, many others. It was a different age. I don't think music will ever see those golden years of creativity, experimentation and virtuosity again, and I count myself extremely lucky to have been young through those years when anything, literally anything, in music seemed possible. Thanks for what you do!

I saw it in New York at Radio City. Second best show ever. I saw The Wall in 1980.

Forgot to mention that's Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music) on second guitar and of course fellow Floyd Rick Wright on keyboards.

Yo are correct about the other band members. The late Richard Wright of Pink Floyd was playing keyboards, and Guy Pratt, de facto bass player for Pink Floyd since 1987, was also playing. The other guitarist on stage, Phil Manzanera, is formerly of Roxy music.

Jon Carin, the other keyboardist for Pink Floyd's live shows since 1987, was also there with David on this tour.

This is such a great performance, and I think it was Richard Wright's last performance before he died. This song is beautiful, but also check out "Echoes" (from Pink Floyd's album Meddle) from this concert. Fans will give different answers about the best version of it, but I think this live performance is at the top. Again, love the reaction to this song!

I think Rick had one more performance at the tribute concert for Syd in 2007 where they played Arnold Layne.
