As someone with a number of big watch boxes in the closet I am very pleased with more practical packaging of the new IWC. I just bought this watch and really love it. Also the centre links vary depending on the model. The black and white dials have brushed centre links, but mine, the Aqua, has polished centre links. I haven’t seen the titanium up close yet.
Black dial is amazing and really matches up well with the brushed case and bracelet.. This will be added to my collection as soon as I have 12,000.00 to spend
Nice review. Earned my subscription 👍 I own the Mark XX in blue and would love to pair it with either this one in black or thr new Zenith Pilot Ceramic in all black. I own a bunch of other watches, but they are mostly complications (divers, chronos, GMTs, etc), while one of these along with my Mark XX and GS Soko Shadow would fill the "daily" / "GADA" role in the collection.
Its selling for just over MSRP. Not a crazy grey market price. I have a black face on order its been 5 months and counting already. If you want an official genta design watch market depicts a strong price.
That's a gorgeous thing, but the gripe on the movement is valid--not because it's the same one found in lower-priced IWCs and Maurice Lacroix, but because it's simply a low-quality movement . At $12k, it should be at least as accurate and reliable as a Selitta/ETA, or, if the power-reserve is a big selling point, the Oris 400.
@@coffeeboyclips1973 Personal experience with my Mark XX-it's not that accurate a movement to begin with (which is weird now that even COSC has become a given for any Swiss watch or micro brand above $1000), but it still had to go back to IWC for a full service in the first couple of months because it was running so far off. Then the minute hand started jumping whenever the crown was pulled out or pushed in, but IWC said that was normal and not eligible for warranty repair. It's too easy to make (or in IWC's case, source) a basic, 3-hand movement for this to be acceptable in a $500 watch, let alone a $5000 Mark XX or a $12000 Ingenieur. The Sellita in my old Mark XVIII didn't have any of these issues. But then again, neither does the 4R in my Seiko 5.
@@MeestroDavid fair enough, you could have just had a faulty movement. I have a mark 18 and it's been solid, was thinking of upgrading to xx in white but may just stick with my 18 or add the chrono 41 when funds are available.
@@coffeeboyclips1973 Yeah--I agree the initial repair is just a faulty movement and can't hold that against IWC. But the jumping minute hand is something they said was normal, and the stated accuracy of that watch is also pretty poor for something at that price, so those factors aren't unique to me and my experience. If I were you, I'd stick with your XVIII. The Sellita in there is a rock-solid movement and you can get it regulated by pretty much any watchmaker if you want to dial in more accuracy. I've never owned the Chrono41, but from what I understand, that's a pretty solid movement inside...
@@MeestroDavid yeah, I think I will stick with the 18. Iwc don't seem to give any figures re accuracy, but I have been told that they should be within cosc tolerances. Iwc make watches that look really good, since owning an iwc I don't feel like wearing anything else, I sold both my bb58 and seamaster as they were not getting any wrist time.
Setting a high price allows them to break even while making lesser quantities. The tactic is even more justified when this (Genta design) is something that IWC can milk out of their catalog. Pricing out most of the demand also has a effect of boosting their desirability when a lot of other brands are trying to do, which is sad for watch collectors.
No reproach, great video about a watch that will probably go down in history - BUT: this explicitly only because of the design. Have you even analyzed what kind of movement is installed here? Correct, the same caliber ticks both in a high-priced luxury watch like the new IWC Ingenieur and in an entry-level luxury watch - namely in the Baume & Mercier Riviera model, which is priced at around 4000€ with the caliber BM13-1975A. That corresponds to a factor of >3 compared with the IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40.
That's internet misinformation, the movement is not the same as BM. I know your mind is set because you saw it on social media, but reality each manufacturers received the components then finish, assemble ave regulate it themselves, that's how it actually works
The legibility is awesome but the price…….. if I want to scratch that Genta itch, I would pick up a baume et mercier riviera for a fraction of its price. The movement is probably very similar;)
Just some constructive criticism I think you would benefit from. The frame cuts scattered across this video is very distracting. Your video and audio chop so many time it’s irritating to continue watching. You need to watch back your video and see what I see.
I think consumers will draw the line at some point. I do also think that this is a miss from IWC, they've overestimated the desirability of the Engineur.
Gerald Genta designs are fvery ugly and AP watches are Very bad quality....mostly issues with movement and pushers /crown....VC and Patek is on another level👍
I could only watch this video for a few seconds before I had to stop and make a comment. Dude, you cute way too much. You cut and past countless 1 and 2 second video clips together in order to make a 9 minute video. It's so annoying and makes the video so difficult to watch. It gave me a headache. What a nice watch. Beautiful design, overpriced.
Very nice piece, glad to hear someone talk about the finishing, dial is hand painted, bracelet hand finished
Damn why do I see you in every watch channel.
That dial is stunning.. that is a holy grail watch for me

Great watch and worth the money in my view ... comparing against other integrated steel sports watches.
Congratulations on your new watch! Wear it in health, my friend.
Love it … to me, the Titanium version is incredible stunning and it’s absolutely worthy for the price.

Stunning watch, worth the price imo
Awesome video. Need to see Aqua.
Why is Vacheron spec wise way more superior? Can you please explain more? Thanks.
finishing, movement is handmade, movement finishing, overall movement design.
When you say this one is better quality than their cheaper? What models? Is a portrguser considered lower tier? Pilot?
Yes, exactly

I think the price is well justified if you see how much is people paying for a Rolex OP41 or any Rolex sport model
Did you get the tool for bracelet adjustment from your Boutique directly? Because it wasn‘t included when I bought mine.
Yes, it was already in the box when presented to me
I love it but I want to see the movement for that price!

Most people saying it is not worth the price

B&M isn’t even close in terms of its outer esthetic. That being said, pretty crazy the difference in price for a similar movement.
B&M is not designed by Genta, it actually looks like it's bought from Walmart
Comparing BM to Iwc is like comparing Toyota to mercedes
100x people writing the same damn thing about the high price and genta design with different sentences 😂
People are not gonna read through every comment before making one
That's the social media sheep effect
Great watch but price is waaaay overs
They will limit the production and make people mad
I hope so

What a nice watch. Beautiful design, overpriced.
Way too overpriced for its movement and this Genta thing is so damn overrated.
IWC set their price low, it should be set at 15k
No it shouldn’t .. not all watch manufacturers wanna became like Rolex .. what the hell are y talking about ?
With the same movement as a Mark XX?
Haha ur funny bro 😅😅
@@bohemianphotographer6843He has Genta on the brain.
Design is beautiful but It's not worth the price. Some Chinese watches are 30 times cheaper and have almost the same level of finish.
Too small for a serious sports watch.
The Ingenier is not worth the price
Not worth the price, and no see through case-back. Get their pilot watch instead
