Every successful musical artist doesn’t make it without a successful producer …. Shania is no exception

The reason why this book seems to be missing something is because there are so many things left out that really should have been included. Shania has been accused of playing fast and loose with the truth, and it looks like that may have happened here. Also wanted to add: Shania DID have contact with Clarence. He had pictures of them together, and he helped support her and Sharon, even after Sharon left him for Jerry. ETA: It was her bio father, Clarence Edwards, who was a VIA Rail engineer, who got her the train rides for the Tommy Hunter show. Clarence was a gentle soul. I do not believe he abused Sharon.

Sharon, Shania's mother, likely had phenomenal business skills. She was picking up the phone and arranging for Shania to sing at various venues! Shania was able to sing at the Tommy Hunter Show, 1970s lottery shows that had live performers, clubs, bars, etc. Wow. She must have been great on the phone and very persuasive to be able to convince decision makers to allow Shania to perform.
Based on what Shania wrote, I am guessing that her mother was strongly encouraging Shania to make the most of every single single opportunity that came their way! She comes across as very sharp, entrepreneurial, and great at networking. Good for Sharon for building a relationship with Mary Bailey! Mary played a huge role in Shania impressing an influential entertainment lawyer while performing at the Deerhurst Resort!
Perhaps she was someone born to be a booking agent or talent manager in the entertainment industry. She was quite resourceful, passionate, and enthusiastic! It is interesting that she arranged for Shania to be on a famous singer's tour bus (hoping the singer would ask Shania to sing and perhaps help to advance her career) as well as arranging for her to go backstage to meet famous singers.
According to the description of a conversation Shania had with her father, Sharon helped Jerry with the tree planting business. Hmmmm. Smart lady!

It's a shame the book wasn't written in a way that was more engaging! I just watched the documentary on Netflix and it was great. The doc had a much better flow, but the book sounds like it went into more detail. As a Canadian I grew up with her music and remember sitting and watching her concert DVD in my basement. Saw her in concert during uni and still a big fan!

I read this book a couple of times, parts of it are tough to stomach. Well, Jerry did end up eventually killing Sharon because it was he who was at fault for the head on collision that took both their lives. I think Shania glosses over far too many ugly truths about her stepfather, but she may have felt by being too honest she was betraying him.

She also fails to mention that her biological father is the one who got her train tickets (he was a Via Rail engineer) so that she could perform on the Tommy Hunter show. He was not absent from her life.

I can't take you seriously. Two young people who don't even have 1/10 as much life experience as Shania does, aren't at all capable to phatom the essence of this autobiography.
Also, you mention the book is lacking self reflection and character development...Shania literally writes in this book how she was able to look at her latest trauma event (the end of her marriage) from a distance and that comparing to what she'd gone through before, this wasn't the worst event. And that she would get over this, just like she has in the past, just to name 1 example.
I mean, come on, if you miss such an essential part of the book you are not at all entitled to say anything about it.
Also, if you knew the reason why she wrote this autobiography in the first place you'd understand why she gets into so much detail and childhood memories. She mentions it on the 1st page actually, but I guess you missed that too. Just as you missed the title of the book (From This Moment On and NOT From Now On), and "comb my hair, doing a dare" instead of "color my hair, do what I dare"? Come on, get your facts straight and be professional!

Also the part where you laugh at Shania describing the Mrs. Patridge story...She's going into full detail to show how much she's absorbing in general at that young age, how her mind wanders off, and how she goes into this imaginary state. She describes how that very quality of being able to escape into your own thoughts, your own little world, has helped her cope with the domestic situation she was living in. To make the connection with her professional career: this is how she got into song writing. She put her thoughts into songs. This is her therapy. Sharing this inspires others.

Also, Shania describing the story about walking to school and how it seems so different looking back on it as an adult, has more meaning than you clueless girls think. You laugh at it but you're missing the point, being:
Looking back on things from your childhood as an adult can help put things in perspective. One of the reasons she wrote the autobiography. It being an AUTOBIOGRAPHY is exactly why she describes the story. It's her story. She wants to help and inspire others with HER STORY. Had she written a book with the purpose of it being a general self help book, yes, then she could've left the personal details out. But it's not. It's an AUTOBIOGRAPHY!

I don’t like this podcast and it’s not hard to read? She’s an Artist and you’re not supposed to get everything ….. you never considered When the book was written …. Shania writes Music and is not an author and everyone already knows that …. she is being forthright and honest about her life to help others cope …. end of story …. a Best Seller btw because people know she’s not an author and want to hear her story
