Space Station 13 is a game that you're not going to understand unless you play. It's not a game you can learn by watching or reading, and it is a game you certainly won't master in your first day, week or month. Space station 13 is one of the most insane experiences of my life, a game that has occupied my time for over a decade now. Space station 13 is the roguelike of roguelikes for me, the most wonderful piece of human created madness, and certainly on equal footing with dwarf fortress in terms of sheer complexity. Please join in as I embark again, for just another day on space station 13.

One of the best rounds i had as bravo SL was with two 'bald' engineers. I had to spend time to teach them everything from cades to sentry guns to power, etc.
But instead of shouting at them, I just told the rest of the squad to can that shit and walked them through it. If they messed up brought them over showed them how to do it. Made them do it themselves. Two hours later those new as hell players saved the entire game by quick building a firebase while we were directly fighting xenos.
Know how you look cool and rp a badass NCO? ... By actually leading and not flipping out on your dudes, turns out!
Only commented cause of what you said halfway through Tex. But it's really important we teach the new guys what we know instead of scaring them off.
I'd like to say thanks for being a good example of a leader in cm. It really is a complex game, and if I hadn't come from Bay station doing medical, I don't think I would have made it as a medic or anything else. It's nice to hear people caring about the newbies
Sounds like you did a badass job.
* That crushing moment you realize this game blows the licensed Aliens: Colonial Marines out of the water *
its because it was made with love, and competency
Reminds me of seeing Lee Reherman (american gladiator) at a convention to rep Colonial Marines, with him in 'sort of' marine getup next to a booth babe. You could just tell he was SO unimpressed at being there, at one point someone tried saying hi to him and he just grabbed a water bottle and walked into the back.
Most common response I've heard to, "Don't call me sir!" was "Yes ma'am!"
"I have a speech impediment" - The Greatest Audiobook / Radio / Movie Trailer Voice Ever, 2019
I do though
@@theblackpantslegion Been binge watching the videos and couldn't (and still can't) tell at all man.
HAHA YES. Oh wow this round! As you noticed I decided to give tex pizza as a one off gag BUT the guy who got the pizza cutter killed a pred with it. Its the only such kill in our servers statistics. There was all sorts of other shenanigans but that was the best.
God bless.
Gags are fun. And, well, I tend to attract a number of them.
I was actually in this round as a maint tech back on the ship, but wound up being send down because the others in engineering wanted me to go find the booze-o-mat (which I never found) and stumbled upon the predator-blood-soaked-giant pizza cutter and brought it back to the dropship after losing an arm to a lurker. So you can say that thing canonically made it back to the Almayer. Fun times.
Hahaha... I ran over and said ITS HIM! and he's all like NOPE! KEEP MOVIN
Move freight
Hearing you talk about the loss of something you like is a major hit to the feels.
That's life sometimes. Treasure the shit you have. It may escape you.
The laughter when he sees he is the Deltard leader is just grand
I agree with lighitng the floor on fire. I think pyrotech is my favorite thing to do on CM. Hell I was that alpha busy fighting a fire when you roled up with your squad. I was caught in that ambush and ended up blowing myself up so badly, the medics couldn't revive me to do over 600 points worth of damage done to my body.
This would be great to see made into it's own top-down game separate from SS13 with proper sprite animations and a larger view of the play field. And, yeah, it would definitely be a hell of an experience as an FPS with all of these other mechanics still intact and directional audio.
Now's a great time to learn CM just a couple days ago Mentor applications were opened up and we now have a small army of mentors to help newer marines/aliens get into the fight and learn the game. All you have to do while in game is hit F1 and select Game Mechanic/ Mentor help and ask your question and a community assigned mentor will answer your question. I highly recommend newer players to play private for a few rounds to learn controls and map layouts and to read the quickstart guide cm-ss13.com/wiki/Marine_Quickstart_Guide
At the very end, just as he says well done, a marine blows his own head off! What timing!
comedy is like that
Would be really interesting to see you in the Commander role mr Tex, showing everyone how to do briefings properly, the old fashioned way ;).
Well for the first time in my entire time playing ss13 i can say "i was there" aint it grand
sometimes it is
I'm with you 100% on that comment about people being intimidated about trying other roles because of the expectations (and reprimands) they get if they don't do it to the letter. I've been playing a basic grunt for ages, and the one time I tried playing as a requisitions officer, it was nothing but abuse because I couldn't find a specific holster within a minute of it being asked for.
It sucks, makes playing the role feel like a chore.
My first time playing SS13 as anything other than Assistant, I played Janitor. Got called over by HoP to clean a hall. Started cleaning. Detective shows up and starts screaming at me for doing what I was told. So I leave and go clean another hallway. Later, I was putting my supplies away and suddenly my closet blows up. The HoP, as a ghost, then accused me of sabotaging the station. It annoyed me, and I haven't really played a lot of SS13 since.
I'm not too proud to say I've been refreshing daily for another SS13 episode. Thank you for this delicious morsel!
It's not a BlackPantsLegion CM round if you don't get flagged for chat spam at least once!
True
I really miss the OLD OLD 2013 version where it was box station
yeah, I have some episodes of that.
From this I shall learn how to play on this server. Good evening from Texas. Kill me.
I'm still grinding through your content on SS13, loving the CM rounds in particular. I hear what you said about the QM role, choices could be limited to "bang, boom, burn or brrt?", aka "rifle, shotgun, flamethrower or SMG?" with the rest as standard kit. Apply the KISS principle to setup perhaps?
I only commented though as the Fortnite bit rang so true. I used to love that game before they added the BR crud. Chill out farming resources, building ludicrously elaborate deathtrap fortresses and then slaughtering zombies. For over 4 hours if you decided to try the 14 day survival runs. You learn to take piss breaks *fast* when you do that kind of thing!
1:00:00 in case anyone is wondering, the song is called "Johnny i hardly knew ya"
I'm super glad I ran into your channel again Pants. I've seen you way back on CM and hopefully I'll have the honour of playing with you. Dont worry I wont spam in LOOC.
appreciated.
FINE FINE! I'LL GIVE THIS GAME A TRY, looks like too much janky fun.
katarjin Bronies are extensively bullied on spessman simulator.
Fuck attachments, just m41 a1 for suppressing fire and sidearm/ motion tracker. Just be careful and you will survive 5 hour Prisons Station round.
if you want chaos go on beestation
every admin that gives free pizza is a good admin
I’ve never played this game and I never will but damn I can’t stop watching
in spehs they can always hear you scream
So, I did want to say something Tex, I played space station 13 back in 2013, never was able to get into it because I was a young idiot back then, and honestly watching you play has been making me want to try again. So thanks, I do look forward to trying to get into it and having a much more mature mindset to try and enjoy myself and become a true spaceman. Though I do wonder if it matters if I try starting on a certain station. would you have any advice at all?
Goon
I eat meat but i try to avoid industrial meat and instead get it directly from the butcher so i dont eat a lot of it.
Tofu is alright with other stuff, the notion that you can use it as fake meat makes no sense.Put it in soup or fry it with mushrroms and paprica.I love Saitan especially because i know "gluten intolerant" people eating it not realising what it is.
Apparently that EPIC company buys their meat from farmers that use raising animals to rejuvenate used-up farmland. I dunno if they sell fresh meat, though.
That butcher getting the livestock from a local farm or ranch? Was it pasture fed and treated well? 'Cause that's the best, I hear.
And there's a saying I heard: "Nothing is as good at being meat than meat." Don't try and shape and science tofu and veggies and whatever else into a meat shape and cook and treat it like meat. You will be disappointed, if not disgusted, with the results. Cook and prepare your tofu and veggies and whatever in the way they've been found over centuries of trial and error to be the most tasty. The results will be much better.
They plant deep-rooted native grasses to do that? I hear that's part of the way to recover worn-out farmland and it also traps CO2 in the grasses root system.
As someone who has had dishes with Tofu, I can agree. Tofu is only good with a meal, particularly Asian, though you probably could get inventive with it. Also Deltards again huh? I'm curious, how many times have you been on the Deltard squad now? Not that I'm complaining lol.
DELTARD 4 LYFE
@@theblackpantslegion Noted, good to hear! Also I think you should always have a good reason for like getting extra stuff in CM and have to stick to an assigned role in the squad, which would also make things like teamwork and RP more of a thing. You know, like, I'm a grenadier, just give me a couple of frags, smoke grenade maybe, maybe an under-barrel launcher, just so I can perform my role via mission requirements while still being useful instead of customization off the bat, then everyone screaming to get their "god-gun" which they feel so entitled to, and, well, just makes the rifle a bit less optimal/useful.
Now if I can only not kill my escape pod by panic hitting the 'Don't launch' button instead of the 'run for our lives' while playing CM. (True story, did that the last time I played)
Tex, you seem to have some difficulty with some weapons, macros should help ease the problem of those weapons
dont listen to him tex, macros are for nerds
:(
Tex, I discovered SS13 by your vids. I tried play on Goon several times. I try to be in somewhat role...it is not so easy though. Hope to play it more often. But your example inspires. RP and exploring is far better than some griefing...
I agree, friendo
*Laughs in deltard*
3 pizzas can fill up your orange hunger bar and 2 pizzas can fill up a yellow hunger bar
Hey bud. Glad to see you around again. Been a while.
@@theblackpantslegion same here Tex
20:00 IT IS NOTED!
Should be herding kittens, it would be cuter :D
Tofu and Seitan are vegan staples
56:19 Holy shit.Apparently a predator got murdered by a pizza cutter. I wonder if it's the same pizza cutter that admin gave you in the begging.
yes
Have you tried TGMC yet? Its TG sponsored version of CM. They have made a few changes to the code. They removed action restriction for marines so you can do any action, but it will take morw time if its not trained.
I didn't care for it at all.
@@theblackpantslegion It was okay, its way more unstable than the CM build.
I've been meaning to ask for a while, is Checkers canonically thicc in CM?
That said, I try to keep my loadouts simple. 2 attachments and maybe explosives or aps. If I feel funky.
Canonically thicc?
@@theblackpantslegion yeah you always gorge yourself until obese so I just wondered. It amuses me.
plz no buly cowbob.
Watching older CM videos and comparing to this Rp has really gone down, unless most people just rp a psychopath.
It has gone way down
>Tex is bad at wildlands
Well to be fair, so is Ubisoft...
dohohohohohohho
I think that dick calling you baldie at the start was one of the first to die...
aint life funny?
@@theblackpantslegion poetic justice.
I wonder if SS13 could work in the TOME engine?
tbh all the gunsperging is exactly why I don't play on CM
It was not noted.
I can say i started being a spacemans this week. I enjoy being a barmans. Botany aint bad. Mining looks like i have a ton to learn.
I am trying to be a good spacemans. Also i agree with having a gimmick as i find dick/prankster barmans fun.
be a good spacemans. The rest will be easy
I would throw some cash at "unreal station." ... provided it doesn't end up being platform exclusive, heh
You talk about Avacado toast like it's a bad thing..
I just grumble, its my way of speaking
@@theblackpantslegion Gotcha. I was just foolin' around.
I wish I wasn't sticky banned from CM :(
then appeal.
@@theblackpantslegion I did, they said they said I needed to wait until a head looked into it, and it's been weeks. Hoping it gets handled to join in RP shenanigans
AtomicCarp Reset your IP and make an alt.
