I’ve done this mountain two times before, and two different ways. One was successful, and the other not so much. This ride was an attempt to see if I could get the latter route done properly.
The mountain in question is Sgor Gaoith, arguably one of the best rideable mountains in the country, and a very accessible on at that too.
Overall, this ride was great, but I still think that the standard TrailForks marked way is the best one of all.

Went up that route the other day, man it was brutal! I think next time I'll try the landrover track,. Cracking views though!

I loved that route when I did it. Still, gives me the excuse (not that I need one!) to go back again and do your original route. The view up top is, quite simply, one of the most special in the UK.

Ah yes, getting on the wrong path of Gaoith. I did that route trying to remember the insructions I'd been told. I got it all right until the last bit where the advice was take the main forest road back to Feshie. Forgot that part. I needed to get back to Aviemore for the train so once again I foolishly trusted the dotted line that only exists on the map as I thought it would be quicker. It was equally as overgrown as it was swampy. So bad that I ended up carrying the bike and walked in the stream as it was the path of least resistance. That last descent was so overgrown i couldn't see where the path was through the heather but at least the comedy falls were well cushioned.
Sounds like a nightmare! But I bet you look back at that day fondly all the same. That’s what it’s like for me anyway, sometimes the tough times are the best times.
@@McTrailRider Absolutely. I've never regretted taking the bike despite whatever mess I end up in. Bad ideas make good stories.

No idea, but it’s hard a firmware update done, and is now performing better than ever 👍
