    The Casio was sold at KB Toy store in the 80s. I was around 7 or 8 when I saw one. It came with a cassette tape with guitar sounds on there. I remember a guy and his uncle were getting one and they were excited to trick their friends into thinking he could play. It stuck with me. That was the first time I realized I wanted to play guitar. I didn't get the Casio, but got an old Yamaha that year. 33 years later I still play...

    Looking forward to your demo of the Casio guitar.
    That Pedal, super ridiculous. People are so lame with their justifications. Reverb just pisses me off anymore. I was gonna buy a pedal and this dude was gonna meet me to avoid shipping. He wouldn't sell straight to me though. He insisted on me buying through reverb. I'd have to pay sales tax that way. He wouldn't take less than $130, with tax it was close to $140 I'd have paid. After fees he would collect $121. I told him I'd buy it in person for $120. He gets his money and I save some. I don't want to pay $140 to give him $120. He wouldn't do it. So stupid. I'd have even come up, have him $125 and he'd have been ahead. Just wouldn't budge.

      From a buyer's perspective I can understand not wanting to buy outside of Reverb because of the protection they offer, but from a seller's perspective I'm not sure I get it fully. Perhaps it's because I am in NYC, and meet in public places with security guards and cameras. No knows where I live, the listing is taken down from Reverb immediately after and labeled as "no longer selling." But anytime this has happened the gear is of great quality and exactly as described, no one is scamming anyone and usually a friendship or "kinship of guitar nerds" is formed. That being said you also have to know what you are going to get from the sale if it went through Reverb and the in-person sale should be higher than what Reverb would give you otherwise I don't see the point,unless you hate shipping stuff or don't have the materials.
      All that being said, please know what you are buying. Several times through Reverb I have sold items described as honestly and straight forward as possible with full disclosure, technical information, measurements and many photos, only to have someone buy and receive the item not knowing what they were purchasing. Example buying a MIA 2 7/32 traditional 6 point strat bridge and thinking it was going to fit a MIM strat, buying the wrong scale length neck things like that, when the scale length is clearly listed. Then they expect you as the seller (having fully described the item in detail) to accept a return on your dime, nope, uh-uh not gonna happen bud! I haven't lost a Reverb case/ investigation yet because I am thorough with technical information in the listing and the buyer, well typically in cases like I am describing, doesn't have a clue and to them all you can say is, "Pull yur finger outa yur ass bud. Figure it out!"

    • @bciecko1
      @bciecko1 2 года назад

      @@notmyrealhandle Why? To be honest, I wouldn't buy from someone that was like that. It's why I didn't buy from him. I bought from someone else. On reverb, but not him. Again, I have an established reverb history and an established and public profile for FB, IG etc... Goes back over a decade. If anyone online isn't a creep it's me. If you have any critical thinking skills you'd know how to figure that out.

    • @bciecko1
      @bciecko1 2 года назад

      @@notmyrealhandle This is a red flag for buyers as well. When they ship you a brick in a box you know... We all have to have some level of skepticism, sure, we all have to have a level of trust as well. Trust is earned but it's also easier to see when one can or cannot trust a buyer or seller. Sure, Reverb is a great place because of their system but it's not completely devoid of scams.
      This particular seller was listing in a local classified. It's how I originally found it. I think he was brand new to Reverb and looking to establish a "store" on the site. I have no problem showing my license and smiling I front of my address to prove I am who I say I am (🎼 and if I wasn't then would I say I am...🎼) 🤣🤣
      Really though, this dude was stuck in a stubborn place of "it has to be this way or no way" and it was odd. He's going to meet up with me, knows he will only get $120 after Reverb fees, is okay with that, but still wants me to pay over $140. Why? He's already meeting up with me. I can pay him cash. If he's worried about that I can pay him PayPal or CashApp or any other service. I contacted him through Facebook market place, chatted with him and his girlfriend through messenger and when it came time to buy or meet up it was a deal only through Reverb. If anyone had red flags going up it would've been me. The whole thing was weird and made no sense.
      People don't want to meet at houses. They don't want any personal info exchanged. That's bad too. They sell you something broken. You get counterfeit money. They ghost you and you have no way to find them again. I try to keep things as personal as possible. If I shop on Reverb it's from an actual store. If it's individuals I chat with them to make sure they seem like a cool person. I haven't been burned yet. I've never burned anyone.

    I'll never get why people like relics. I love the charme of a really, really used and bruised up guitar, but the charme comes from it actually being used. For me at least. I don't see the point in artificially bruising up a guitar.

    My nephew just won a Strat from the Indiana State Fair! Lol he brought it to me because I am the only guitar guy he knows. I told him he would have been better off choosing the giant teddy bear. No branding I could find, the action was 3/4” off the board and the pickups were just steel slugs with a kitchen magnet taped to one end. It had the cheapest electronics made and the list goes on. I tried making it playable but the body to neck geometry was too far off. So I went to Guitar Center and found a Squire that had the same finish for $70 and set that up for a new player with 8 gauge strings. I told him to hang the fair guitar on his wall as a souvenir.
