Rig is looking good! I’ve always liked the Nissan Frontiers and wonder why more guys aren’t running them for overlanding. I ran my Xterra hard for many miles.
Thanks man, yea I just like it more and more each day. From what I can tell it's likely due to the lack of aftermarket support for the platform. Ha yea man I remember your early vids, definitely a capable rig!
Frontier. An under represented bad ass. Need more imagineering content providers like you to continue raising the bar. The Frontier design is awesome and there is a big market audience who craves for more everything Frontier. 2020 Pro4x midnight black with the old style body and new v6 engine and 9speed tranny. An instant classic. There are many others like it but, this one is mine.
A fine overland build ! A titan swap is a great off road lift, but new 1/2 shafts, tie rod ends etc. etc.. make it a very expensive option. I opted for Old Man Emu - they give you a choice of weight ranges for their springs and I made my truck set level with 200lb resting on the receiver (trailer) . They guarantee springs and shocks for 3 years and their product noticeably improve ride and handling!
@@BlindmanOutdoors I'll try to post a review of OME sometime soon - improved ride both on and off road! 11" of ground clearance in front (32" tires with 35lbs of pressure) However the 1-3/4 " in front and 2-3/4 " lift in the rear is noticeable unloaded - you might look at my most recent up-load in death valley to see
I've always liked Nissan trucks, going back to the old Hustlers in the early 90s. My best friend in NB has a '15 Pro4X, and loves it. When I was researching midsize trucks, I was surprised at how good the frontiers actually were in comparison to the Tacos n the GM twins. If they would have released the rumoured '21 Frontier when they were initially supposed to, I might have actually picked it. The Pro4x was/is supposed to have a 6' box option with the crew cab. Something you can't get in the TRD pro or ZR2.
Great rig! I was an original owner of a 99 Xterra - 2WD! - and replaced it with my current truck. So dependable. Only replaced as I wanted a 4WD and didn’t have room to keep it.
Awesome looking truck, I have a similar build in my Frontier and was looking at the Coastal Offroad bumper but its cool to see the finished product. Awesome work, looks great!
Nice truck for sure. I really wish Nissan could get more attention from the accessory aftermarket. How has the front end held up to the extra weight and size of the tires? Find you regear?
Pretty sweet looking Fronty man👍 Im thinking of giving my 2008 4x4 crew SE long bed the overland treatment for its belated 300,000 mile birthday. Its currently got 337,000 miles on it and has a Rancho 2" lift with the RS5000 adjustable shocks and is going to get some 33" KO2s soon as my current cheap all terrains are about out of tread. I Really like your Linex treatment and am definitely going to do something similar. Your new bumper is awesome as well!
Hey not yet! I run a battery seperate in the camper but have recently been wanting something more appripriate for my style of travel so there might be a change coming soon!
Thanks for the vid man, good stuff. Gives me a few ideas for how to place my fridge in the back and potentially put a cover over my bed WITH cross bars for my roof top tent :)
Thanks Samuel! I'm running a Frankenstein lift, different parts for front, and back, ready lift 2" add a leaf on the rear and a Daystar 2" spacer on the front, the plans are to move to a full suspension upgrade eventually
It's always so difficult, I wish we could try before you buy haha, that's kinda why I went my own way lol, that way I knew it would do everything I need it to
Nice truck! I'm currently running a bone stock pro4x and am hoping to do some similar mods myself soon! I'm in Calgary and run with the Off road brigade club if you've heard of them. The titan swap looks awesome but sounds pretty pricey for me at the moment, how are you liking the lift you have now?
Hey man thanks a ton, I have heard of them yea I see them on FB from time to time! The stock truck is still a mighty capable truck but definitely limited, I don't hate the lift it has done very well, however, I'm due for an upgrade in the next couple of years or sooner if that manifests its self somehow!
I would recommend going with Frontier specific Old Man Emu suspension all the way around. Very tried and true system from down under. I installed them on my 2007 Frontier LE when I had a leaf break and take out a shock. I'm glad I found your channel and its nice to see another Frontier owner building a decent rig without breaking the bank. One question for you in regards to the rack for the box. I have a 6 foot box, shouldn't be too big of a difference I think but just wanted to confirm. Love the front bumper and plan to add that to my truck and want to go with their rear bumper as well with the double swing gate for the spare tire and jerrycan mounts. Looking good and I will now check out the rest of your videos. I just found your insta as well, my handle on there is CrzyCnck....cheers.
Hey Chris thanks man much appreciated!! Seriously. I have checked out the ome kits, right now then and dirt king are at the top of the short list as well as nisstec. For 6ft beds you can still use the short box rack, but we do extend the foot print from 4ft to 5ft when requested, this keeps 6" from the front and back of the box for the tunneau cover to be rolled back still.
I own a 2012 Nissan Frontier, where did you find that grille I’m trying to find one like that but google has not been helpful lol, also what sized tires would be good for me to use while still on the stock lift
If you're running stock height I would stay pretty close to stock tire size, but perhaps get something with more aggressive tread, there isn't much tolerance in our trucks for over sized tires until you start doing some modifications, the girl inserts are actually from Nissan, you can order a set from the dealers I believe, that's where this set came from.
absolutely its possible, my trim level is SV so its a fairly limited trim level and i have yet to have any problems with capability, i wont be rock crawling or mud bogging anytime soon but I'm consistently more impressed by this truck time and time again
@@BlindmanOutdoors I might get into building a little Frontier sub-culture in my local area once I start upgrading it! I follow a lot of the Taco pages and they just seem so cool lol. Maybe I can build a dope cross-country rig like them...

LOVE finding other Frontier overlanders!!! We are a rare breed but what a sturdy and capable truck.
you can say that again! and ditto!!

I couldn't agree more, I Love the nissan platform, been a nissan fan for a long while and the longer I continue to own them the more I am impressed.
I've had my coastal offroad bumper for over a year and finally finding the time to install it on my frontier. Glad to see some else did it too.
Oh yea man best one out there!

Great work. Thanks for bringing hope to Nissans!
Cheers h0ppy, I'm hoping if enough of us keep up the demands we'll get some more fabricators offer parts for us haha
Great truck love to see more frontier content on RUclips it's super rare
Thanks bro for the up load, working on my 05 to get it up to par with yours
Hey anytime! It's a blast doing this stuff haha

Same as the disc brakes, my unit has disc brakes all around, when I was selling Toyota's almost every Si gle taco I sold had drums on the rear
Oh yeah, those drums were another reason I decided against the taco.
I seriously considered the Nissan for my last overland rig, ended with the Taco but you’ve turned that unit into a capable off-road rig Looking great!
Thanks bro I appreciate that

Hey Texpat! Definitely having 4x4 is a must for folks like us, I have rarely not had a 4x4 lol, thnx for popping by, hope you and yours are well

That's allot of mighty fine things to say Mr Morrison thank you, she's definitely coming along!

A few years later I did end up swapping everything out for new upgraded suspension and looking to.fo that again in another 2 yes

Doooo iiiiiiittttt! That would actually be a fun way to hit 300k!
Sick brotha. I just lifted and added wheels and tires to my 2020 frontier
Nice, just doing that can make a huge difference in performance
Hi Dave, I have been checking your channel for an idea of adding a second battery. Do you have a second battery in your truck?

Thanks Samuel!

These Nissans look like great value for overlanding, does yours also have the rear locker? Great videos man keep it up!
Awe thanks Karim!! Definitely lots of value yea, this one doesn't have the locker though it's on my want list down the road though
Number one baby! Let's go!!
I just bought my frontier 2017. Don't know what bed rack i wanna go with. I've heard the rci bed rack works on frontiers. I wanna try it.

mad love guys!
truck looks good man
Thanks man!! Lol sorry for the late reply 😅
Have you removed the sway bar how does it do on the highway i want to remove my sway bar from my pro4x
Not yet, I'm working on building a long travel kit for the suspension and they will come off then depending how she handles with the new camper on it

How did you mount your pod lights on the hood?
Just some cheap amazon light brackets, they are gonna be moved to the sides tho very soon

You using any additional support for your bed due to the extra tent weight?
Other than the bed rack nope, it bolts directly to the box rails.
I didnt, heard some people say the bed doesnt hold up well over time and should consider adding bed brackets.. what do you think?
Do you have a link for the roof rack feet that go in the door frame, I tried looking for them and couldn't find anything for platinum roof rack
unfortunately no I don't, it was a used rack before me
@@BlindmanOutdoors bummer sauce, appreciate the reply
Where'd you get the fender flares?
